War of Kings

Wasn't he able to beat the Surfer before? o.o

Though, thinking of it, it was how his powers worked. He just turned the Power Cosmic back against him.

Actually the fight your thinking of was when some chick got that supertattoo and order and chaos made a bet with her. She choose quasar as champion and they choose the SS. The battle started regular, though quasar was getting beaten down, then he realized he was the champion of the bad guy so he let the SS just kick his ass.

Don't think they've fought other than that.

Quasar had the Starbrand himself for a while, and I think that is actually more powerful than the quantum bands. The quantum bands themselves are awesome, but they're effectively as powerful as a Green Lantern ring: they create constructs, let their wearer fly, and manipulate all energy except magic. Not particularly unmanageable, in my opinion.

The starbrand (that's the name) is supposed to be one of the most powerful forces in the universe, that chick could have taken order and chaos with it, that's why they made the bet. Way more powerful than the quantum bands.

Actually, the Star Brand is suppossedly the most powerful item in like, the universe. The Living Tribunal had to get up all in the girl's face, and take it away.

However, manipulating any form of energy puts people like, say, Silver Surfer, Nova, Vulcan, any energy user from anywhere whatsoever the end in a bad spot. People like Strange seem to have the upper hand on him. o.o

However, in Q's defense, he pretty much only uses it like a GL ring.

I think Quasar has a handful of really amazing energy manipulation feats, but he's not in the same league as the Surfer, who's all about energy manipulation. Besides, we don't ever seem to get really impressive energy manipulation these days. It's all just energy projection. Maybe someone'll absorb energy now and then. That's about it. No one's terraformed a planet by manipulating the energy connections between subatomic particles or whatever since the '80s or early '90s.

Quasar's in a good, moderately high power range, Gluestick. :oldrazz:

Did you just call me, "Gluestick"? :cmad:

However, he's manipulated the Power Cosmic before, and Suns, and junk. However, I'm sure he'll just be relegated to projecting. :(

We also saw that Richie could make great use of the quantum bands.

Yeah, I've been calling you that in my head today for some reason. :)

He's basically only turned the Power Cosmic back on heralds, right? Thor's manipulated pretty much everything in the universe, including magnetism and stuff, and he's now been relegated to just hitting people and striking them with lightning. It bugged me at first, but I kind of like it now. It gives each person a clearer identity if the Surfer manipulates all kinds of energy, Quasar generally sticks to constructs and quantum energy blasts, Thor generally sticks to lightning, etc.

I always thought the energy manipulating Thor was odd. It made sense that Quasar manipulated energy, since his powers were always electromagnetic/quantum based and junk. I don't mind him not being a big time energy manipulator though, but it's sorta hard to sell the title "Protector of the Universe" if he can't even stomp heralds, or even compete. :(

You think Eon, being a supercosmic being, would equip Quasar with something comparable.

However, isn't the Surfer now just relegated to "pew pew" now?

Basically. We've mostly seen him stick to projecting energy as well.

As for Thor, his hammer was capable of doing practically anything for a while. It still absorbs energy; we saw that very recently in his fights against the Destroyer and Bor. But we haven't seen him shooting much anti-matter or disrupting magnetism or doing the various other energy feats he used to do with it. Although, to be fair, we usually saw that kind of stuff when Thor was jaunting around the cosmos with the sci-fi heroes, and he's been pretty much relegated to Earth and a lot of political machinations with Asgard more than anything else since he's been back.

Yeah, even energy absorption is sorta odd for Thor. I liked it more when he just took the hit, and was unphased.

He still does that sometimes. He did it with Iron Man in their big fight. Didn't even singe his costume.

Although, since Thor is the undisputed redheaded stepchild of Marvel's top-tier powerhouses, he usually takes the hit and is totally fazed.

Yeah, but that was back when Thor was Odinforce empowered. :P Which, don't get me wrong, I liked it. Now, it'll be, "Damn, that tickled."

And I'm still pretty sure Gladiator holds that rank.

No, he finally got ranked back up to substantial strongman.

Though, to be perfectly fair, Nova's book did a better job than War of Kings did.

I suppose. I was mostly thinking of the point in WoK where he goes apes*** after Lilandra dies.

It’s chaos in the streets of Hala as the Kree aristocracy rise up and revolt against the Inhumans! What legendary weapons have been unleashed upon the Royal Family? Meanwhile, in The Fault, Triton’s expedition closes on the source of a mysterious and chillingly recognizable voice...have they found Black Bolt?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Definitely one of the shortest deaths ever, if that's actually Black Bolt.

Agreed. Unless he has come back with the power of intangibility. I think that's just a vision or a ghost.

I'm still trying to decide whether to even buy the Inhumans mini. I know I'm getting the other Realm of Kings mini, but I really don't give a s*** about the Inhumans. Crystal, Karnak, and Ronan. They're about all I can stand in that set of characters.
