Comics X-Men: Emperor Vulcan

.... but seriously this story is stretching over years.... it should be done by now

Oh hey, look, it's once again going to be an episode of El Bastardo vs. The Haters.

Pfft. I've been steering clear of this thread, but I just read the issue while getting rid of p00p13z.

Uh, awesome much? :D People need to throw Havok into stars more often. Whodathunk that a character who sucks up solar radiation as an energy source would, you know, waste Vulcan's butt when superpowered? Rock on!

I liked "Rise and Fall," and I liked this mini. And considering no characters died, I think you can all admit now that I was right and Yost is not to blame for the deaths in New X-Men you all seem to cry about 24/7. :oldrazz:

The mini has an ending. The heroes didn't win. It's a suitable ending, it had both plot and character development, and is thus a suitable and proper story. It meets the criteria. And I'll definitely be onboard for another go.

Gotta jump on the E:V rocked bandwagon too, eh.

Vulcan won this round. The Shi'Ar finally rallied to him. Qualifies as an ending.

Glad you 2 enjoyed it

I was havin fun up until the last issue so it wasn't a total bust; I'm just not buying round 2.

Don't get me wrong, I get why Alex, Rach and Lorna fans are throwing hissy fits, though, lol. ;)

Like I said, Yost does the faceless masses. I thought the bus full of kids dying was an important part of the New X-Men story, as it showed us that the Purifiers were a real threat.

It's the individual deaths and poorly written bow-outs by main characters that piss me off. NEVER FORGET!

Yes.

Assuming it's the same team, good writing, good art, good character-centric moments.

I mean, c'mon, even counting Brubaker dealing with the characters, and discounting Claremont's madness with Rachel, these are the best moments the characters have had in years. In the case of Havok and Polaris, probably the best since CHUCK AUSTEN.

I'll repeat that.

CHUCK.
AUSTEN.

hells yeah...Havok NEEDED to lay the smackdown on that ass.

I never really noticed how big of a jobber Gladiator was either. Rachel embarrassed him

Considering doubt makes Gladiator weaker, I'm assuming the throne of the Shi'ar Empire (which he dedicated his life to) getting usurped twice in the same year has had a really negative effect on his usual badassery.

In one of the most awesome uses of a mutant power ever, you forgot to add.

Yeah, Gladiator's powers come from his confidence. In Cannonball's case, his blast shield made him invulnerable to the punch, and when the dust cleared he was unharmed. Poof, there goes Gladdy's confidence.

In the case of fighting Rachel, it wasn't so much anything Rachel did. More, I'd say, like Manic said, seeing the throne usurped twice, probably his faith in the throne as opposed to ruler waning as a result, and on top of that, his defeat by the Scy'ar last issue, and his not believing in Vulcan despite his following him.

Rachel just threw him around with TK for a bit, anyway. It's not like she beat him. Not the way Havok beat Vulcan.

And the last page of present rocked. Vulcan couldn't so much hide his face, but he certainly hid the arm that Havok ruined. That means Vulcan's hiding his weakness so that the Shi'ar can't see, which means a bunch for whatever follows.

so with Vulcan continously having his body f_cked up...is he gonna wind up being some kind of evil ninja-robot-cyborg-man-person?

No, he'll probably wind up a pile of mush the next time Havok gets hold of him.

I just read the last issue and it was good, though I was expecting some closure in the Vulcan thing.

I hope Marvel Girl returns to Earth with Lilandra and Korvus soon.

Havok did awesome in this book, even surrendering at the end to save Polaris. He was written right I think, and though he "lost" at the end, I think they did a great job with him.

I definitely concur.

IA. I think Havok hasnt been written well since Mutant X. This was the first time in a long time, that he felt back on top. Ditto on Lorna who's been a mess since the end of X-factor
