Superman Returns Was Superman Returns the perfect movie?

I must admit it shocks me anyone that has some intelligence (I think you do mego joe) and likes the character(s) can rewatch "Batman & Robin". Unless they forgot how bad it was. I don't know if I can.

Angeloz

That explains why he isn't posting every day hating Batman & Robin.

superman returns didnt throw thousands of annoying remarks about plants or coldness at you. the bad guy didnt get up and tell everybody to chill. the man character didnt refer to "dick" in a sexual and whatnot matter. there wasnt neon lights everywhere. there wasnt random ass shots of the heroes...well ass. villans didnt place explosives on the ground and say "bomb" "bomb" stupidly each time they planted one. the superhero wasnt skydiving with spaceship doors like they where boards.the superhero didnt pull out his credit card, followed by a cha-ching noise. nobody said cowabunga. there wasnt a dancing gorilla.

even if you say superman returns was boring and somehow didnt like it you cant say that it was worse than batman and robin. you just cant. one more time now DANCING GORILLA.

BUt it is. I can't even watch it and enjoy it on any level. I can at least watch B and R and enjoy it in the same manner I enjoy the sixties Batman TV show. Yes, SR IS that bad and for more than one reason. In the end it's all about taste, right?

If I can't even watch it, if it felt like watching a train wreck the first time through, if I felt sick to my stomach sitting through it, it sounds pretty bad to me.

LIke I've said, B and R may be bad. It may be stupid. But SR feels wrong.

THe lack of cohesive backstory in SR kills any chance of it giving the characters any depth. WHile there's not much depth in B and R, it's not really trying to have a lot of depth, but SR desperately wants to be that kind of film and Singer totally missed the boat with the 'vague history' angle and forcing the audience to invent reason his story was plausible.

THe rehashing of the Donnerverse and the use of S:TM as a scene by scene template is boring.

THe pace is WAY too slow.

Luthor plot is even more boring than MR. Freeze's plan to freeze Gotham city.

SR is absolutely atrocious in my eyes. B and R is only a bit better. But it's better enough that I can watch it.

That's the dividing line. Can I watch it?

I'm sorry, but whatever your opinions on SR, i cant believe you can honestly claim B&R is a better movie.

I think he does because of his moral stance. Which means he can't enjoy the film as he has explained. Although I know "Batman & Robin" was such a horrible experience for me that I might watch it only with a commentary. But I've had it months and I've yet to do it.

Batman didn't kill in B&R. Nevertheless it was horrible - It's like moral doesn't have anything to do with a movie quality.

I meant his sexual moral stance. You know the one you guys keep fighting about that he thinks it wrong for Superman to not be married or commited before having sex. 'Cos of what happened in the film with Jason existing.

Angeloz

Is wrong for Superman to give up his mission and lose his powers. It doesn't mean it is not a good movie. Sexual moral or whetever the moral is, the movie doesn't depend entirely on that to be good.

And btw, I don't remember fighting about that point. :)

I think it ruins his enjoyment of the film. By the way I think he's being harsh myself. But you can't always help what you like and dislike. I dislike films and entertainment from a criminals perspective - I always have.

lol i thought you were calling him gay at first lol

I may not have liked SR......but there's NO way it was worse than the abomination that was B+R..........

Even though I don't agree with Singer's vision/direction for SR.....at the very least he took the movie seriously and tried to make a serious movie

( and by serious, I mean he didn't make it overly campy just because it was based on a comic book character )

"The Bat-Card......never leave the cave without it!!" W.......T........F!!!!!!!

:wow: :cmad:

No love for the dancing gorilla......:csad:

and I would also like to say........I rank Ghost Rider LOWER than SR.

Perhaps it was my unfamiliarity with the character.....but I just couldn't get into that movie AT ALL!!

So....see....there ARE movies which I like less than SR......lol.

I can see that, but i still dont see how he can honestly claim SR is worse than B&R.

In my eyes X3 was an abomination, one of the worst movies i have seen in a while, but it is a classic compared to B&R.

I'm glad you have the perspective to admit that, its easy to go over the top when you hate something, i know.

X3 was a great movie in my opinion, it had the best action out of the trilogy but as far as story goes SR has X3 beat anyday.

ugh...i cant believe i enjoyed x3 when i first saw it in theaters...i mean i still knew x2 was better but i still enjoyed it. then when it came out on dvd i watched it again. thats when i relized how bad it was jesus. i hated what they did to wolverines character HATED IT,the danger room sequence was lame, sentinels (or two floating flashlights and a head) sucked, the character deaths were lame, especially cyclops, halle berry is still bad as storm, the goofy lines, juggernaut was just bad, iceman and rouges relationship and the stupid love triangle, the last battle was anticlimatic, actually the whole movie was, hell even the action wasnt as good as before.

ahhhhhh i remember seeing the second trailer and being so hyped up...oh man wtf. i will say some of the effects were good, and i liked one action scene but thats about it. it was just bad. sucks to because x2 set up something that shouldve been amazing. the story for x3 even sounded good, but it was executed so badly. this isnt a fanboy or rtner hater speaking either (i didnt even know what superherohype was back then or even have a computer lol seriously) and i never read a x-men comic. all i really did was watch the cartoon when i was a kid thats about it.

im not bashing your opinion or nothing though, and im pretty sure weve all heard our fair share of x3 hate on these boards, before and after the movie was released lol

It wasn't, GhostRider just blew.

I hated X3 from the moment i saw it, i watched it last for about the 10th (and probably last) time before giving it away.

Time has been kind as I don't remember it. I still remember the credit card though.

Believe me I agree with you. Although I don't hate "X3" but neither do I like it. I think it a waste. Both for the characters and story. Also I've only watched the other film once and "X3" twice plus the couple of commentaries (I believe).

I'm glad you have the perspective to admit that, its easy to go over the top when you hate something, i know.

I like that too. :)

I honestly dont think i'll ever watch X3 again, Fox just ruined what could have SO easily been the CB movie to end ALL CB movies.

I like that too. :)

Well it is easy to go over the top. I once claimed X3 was worse than B&R, but I know it isnt, and i can admit that now.

Have you dared to see "Catwoman"? If so which is worse? As I hope never to see it.

You get it Angeloz. Thanks.

I'm thankful I never saw Catwoman. Even thought I'm a big fan of Halle Berry, but that don't mean I wouldn't see all of her films. Just some good one. ;)

And SR wasn't a perfect movie, but it was fun to watch. It isn't better than Batman Begins, but it tolerateable if you will.
