Iron Man 2 Wasn't Ironman 2 supoosed to be in 3D ?

I remember reading an article about an year ago in which Favreau said he was interested in shooting the film in 3D ?

Sorry to make a new thread, but I was curious as to what happened to that.

Seriously, I think he wanted to shoot in IMAX but they scrapped it.
 
This film was never supposed to be in3D, though I'm sure after Avatar hit at the B.O. the execs considered it, and thankfully, decided that would be stupid.

I hope Thor and The First Avenger: Captain America remain 2D as well.

There is an interesting tidbit in there about why he chose not to shoot 3D. His cinematographer prefers the look of film instead of digital, which is required for 3D. They were very happy with IM1's look on film so they decided to stick with it for the sequel. I loved the look of IM1 and I can't wait to see IM2. I'm sure it will have a great visual feel like the first one.
