Watchmen: Great Graphic Novel or Greatest Graphic Novel?

Watchmen is the Greatest Graphic Novel I've ever read, but I'm sure there are a lot of good ones that are not popular and that I therefore have not read and probably a lot of scripts and proposals that ended up in some exec's trash can at Marvel and DC that might've had the chance of outdoing it. I adore the artwork (which is far greater than The Dark Knight Returns in my opinion) and Alan Moore is unparalleled as a writer in the comic book medium. It isn't perfect, but it's haunted me longer and harder than any other graphic novel I've read (and a lot more than most pieces of literature or artwork period), and has had the most influence on my graphic novel scripts.

Ironically enough..

The Dark Knight Returns

Watchmen

The Long Halloween

The Hard Goodbye

Daredevil: Born Again

The Long Hard Goodbye? Do you mean the Hard Goodbye? Very nice list, some of my favorites to, but I never heard of Daredevil: Born Again.

Haha. Yeah, The Hard Goodbye. Too many hours awake.

and you should read Born Again.

1. Watchmen
2. Crisis on Infinite Earths
3. Sin City: That Yellow Bastard
4. Whatever happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
5. Batman: Year One

Oh, it's that Miller Daredevil story. Cool. I should check that out. Along with Daredevil: Yellow.

And, not surprisingly, my list is identical apart from Daredevil. :oldrazz:

The Dark Knight Returns
Watchmen
The Long Halloween
The Hard Goodbye

And I'll probably add Dark Victory.

it might be weird.but my favorite graphic of all time is tarnished angel from the astro city stuff.watchmen is way the heck up there though

Watchmen?
Absolutely GREATEST GRAPHIC NOVEL ever published.
One of the greatest English language piece of literature in the Century.
I said.

I finished reading it today. It's just SO good, everything about, the writing, the fake documents, the characters, everything.

It's not only the greatest graphic novel easily, but also one of only a few great ones that arent just well done comic arcs. Aside from Batman and Sandman, and Moore's other work, The Watchmen outclasses everything.

Pretty overrated. It's not for everyone. It really felt like a chore to read many times.I still however appreciate what it did for comics it terms of that dark, gritty and realistic approach back in 1985 when nobody else had done it.

I still rate Golden Age,Kingdom Come,Batman Year One,Planetary,American Way and New Frontier above this.

I really think it is the greatest book I have ever read, literary, comic book, or otherwise.

Hands down, without a doubt the greatest story told within the comic medium, and definitly in the top 20 greatest books ever written.

I'd rate V For Vendetta second, followed very closely by Born Again.

I just finished this, and am breathless....

It amazes me how I could have not heard of it before, and excites me that I there is still stuff out there this freaking cool that I haven't induldged in yet.

Amazing.

Put my vote down for the Greatest...I cannot imagine anything can be better...

There isn't, now that you've read WATCHMEN, it is all down hill.:hyper:

Watchmen is amazing (currently reading it for the 2nd time), but V for Vendetta is my favorite Moore graphic novel so far (read it 5 times). So yeah, it's only a great graphic novel.
