Watchmen Rating

The same was said about another Indiana Jones movie...

If this is anything but rated R, you know it's going to be bad.

Everything I've read suggests that it will be rated R.

Has to be.

when you have a 40 foot nakkid Blue men walking around your movie auotmatically garners and R rating.

A new movie from the guy who did 300 and Dawn 04? You don't even need to ask the question.

Yeah, it's R. That fact has been confirmed many a times.

Don't worry, we are getting a hard edged Watchmen.

Without meaning to sound idiotic, does anyone have any idea what this shall be rated in the UK? (I'm not too familiar with USA to UK ratings :o)

I'm hoping for a 15, as I'm a year short of the 18 mark and would really like to see it in the cinema :oldrazz:. Also I tend to prefer 15 movies, as I'm not really a fan of (over-exagerrated) violence :woot:. But I wouldn't mind an 18 if it means everything is included, of course :hehe:

Dave Gibbons said he thinks Watchmen will be rated 18 in the UK

It will be. If it isn't, what's the point? Thank god I won't be seing little kids and their friends in this movie. If they do, they'll witness a rape, a one-hundred foot tall naked man with his blue penis, Comedian shooting a pregnate woman, dogs eating the remains of a little girl, probably close to their age, and millions of people dying. They'll be in for something quite special. Oh, what they don't know. :oldrazz:

I hadn't heard that, thanks Armored Avenger :yay: I'm a little sad to hear that though, as it means I won't get to see it in Imax (If that all goes ahead and whatnot. :oldrazz:), and will have to wait. But for Watchmen, I'll wait. :woot:

And Doctor Jones, I disagree there. (If you're talking about it being an 18, as opposed to a 15. If you're not, ignore me :hehe:) I *have* witnessed rape scenes in 15 movies, as well as shootings and millions of people dying. If these are delivered in a certain way, I feel they can be just as effective without needing huge amounts of gore. But that is my opinion, and probably isn't held by the BBFC

In a similar way, I don't feel they need to show Dr Manhattan's penis all the time. Or need to go into explicit detail regarding the dogs eating the little girl (My memory's a bit hazy, and I've currently lent my copy to a friend, but I don't believe they actually show that in the comic? It's implied, rather than shown. But I could be wrong about that )

And I don't class 15 year olds as little kids. 12, yes, I class them as not being able to handle Watchmen. But again, it is all a matter of perspective :yay:

Edit: I also think that by making it an 18, they're cutting a valuable audience. Comic book movies are quite definetly *In* right now, especially for teenagers. But tbh, I'm more concerned on making it accurate than getting more butts on seats!

Are we sure it'll be rated R? R rated movies make far less money. Granted, TDK has created a darker atmosphere for comic book films but this might be going too far too early. I could see WB forcing them to tone it down to PG-13, because they'll get so much more money that way.

No, I don't consder 15 year olds as kids either. But either way, they'll still be in for something quite different if they see it. :hehe: Or it's too intelligent for them. I just mean the eight or seven year olds who saw TDK. And, no little kids making sounds in the theater, making stupid comments! It's good to know that hopefully the people who see this movie will be a mature audience. Unless it's a bunch of teenagers who don't know what the hell what's going to happen. :hehe:

MonBeeb, this is similar to my point regarding an 18 certificate in the UK. However, it has been confirmed (as it says earlier in this thread :yay:) that Watchmen will be recieving an R in the US. Regarding violent content, I think this is a given. The 18 certificate, is Dave Gibbons' opinion.

Oh, I agree entirely there Doctor Jones :yay: People going to see this movie expecting your average Superhero plotline are going to be in for a shock :hehe: Oh yes. I certainly do *not* think eight year olds should be able to watch this movie. If TDK caused this much rucuss, imagine the outcry at a PG13 Watchmen?

I am fully in favour of a R rating in the USA. The 18 in the UK, I have more of a quibble about. (As far as I'm aware, until 17s may go to an R film if accompanied by an adult, correct? However, this is not the case in the UK - you're under 18, you're not getting in.)But I am probably jumping to conclusions; it's early days yet :woot:

Indeed. In my theater you need a person over 18 to go to a rated R film. But I want to go by myself. It'll be uncomfortable with my mom sitting next to me with Dr. Manhatten's blue penis swinging about.

Oh that's not a problem, just cover her eyes!

She may not like that. And then I have to stomach the other parts with her. Like some of the ones I just explained. Maybe my uncle can see it with me. Him and I are the only ones who read comics in the family and has read Watchmen. And whenever we see eachother, we either talk about comics, comic movies, etc. and he doesn't like sports. Just like me. :woot: So maybe there is another way. :yay:

:hehe: I can just imagine that...

I can see the nicities of going on your own... won't have to explain things to people :oldrazz: Which is why I'm forcing my friends to read the GN before they come with me, mwhahaha!

Seriously though. If one more person asks me "Is Rorschach the evil guy???" I think I'll head-desk.. :whatever:

I'm not even going to try to get my mum to want to see it. Its bad enough having to *convince* her to go see TDK (Which she still hasn't done  ).

How old are you?
