Way of the Samurai 4 is headed to the west, exclusively for the PS3.

Today, Sony revealed via the PlayStation Blog that Way of the Samurai 4 will be coming to the west exclusively for PlayStation 3.

Developed by Acquire (the studio behind the Tenchu and Shinobido franchises), Way of the Samurai 4 will be localized for its western release by publisher XSEED.

XSEED Localization Specialist Tom Lipshultz told the PS Blog that XSEED is "pleased to be bringing [Way of the Samurai 4] to you fully uncut and uncensored. Torture chambers, naughty midnight missions in the dark and all the brutal slaughtering you can handle await in this riveting and 100% historically accurate (shhhh!) sandbox-style samurai period drama."

Mr. Lipschultz admits that there's no release date or pricing info available yet, but we hope to have an update on both counts in the coming months.

Im not really sure how these games keep getting made. Every one iv played has sucked something fierce. I mean i LOVE, LOVE the concept, but the last one i played barely felt like a next gen title. Maybe this one will be better?

Hmm...I've always been very interested in this series, but never got around to playing one.

The concept has always been cool, but they just never seemed very fun to me. WotS3 felt and looked like a PS2 game. Again, super awesome concept. Im just waiting for the gameplay to catch up.

I loved the first one, though it was such a pain in the ass. I don't know if I sucked at it or if it was extremely hard, but almost every samurai I fought would tear my ass up.

WOTS3 was interesting, but I agree it wasn't that great. I'm intrigued by this new installment though.

This series really seems like my sort of thing. I need to give it a try.

I agree that it's a really interesting concept for a game, but the last Way of the Samurai I played felt half-assed. I'll rent this, but I doubt it'll be a purchase at this point.
