WB's 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' original script by J.K. Rowling - Part 2

Yup. I think they opened up an interesting time in the wizarding world.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” found its home in China. Benefiting from a day-and-date Friday release, it enjoyed a big win at the top of the box office.

With some 70,000 screenings per day the film scored $39.7 million in three days, according to Chinese data source Ent Group. That gave it more than 60% of the box office and a total three time larger than fellow new opener, and second placed film, “Moana.”

Warner Bros reports slightly higher figures — $41.1 million (RMB284 million) from 11,600 screens – and says that the three-day score for “Beasts” is higher than the lifetime scores of all the previous Harry Potter films, except “Deathly Hallows Part 2.” Given that the overall Chinese box office has grown many times over since “Hallows Part 2” in August 2011 – and even more since the beginning of the series in 2001 — that comparison is largely meaningless.

Do y'all think Ariana Dumbledore was an Obscurial and that after seeing what she could do Grindewald set out to find another Obscurial which led him to [BLACKOUT]Credence[/BLACKOUT]?

"It destroyed her, what they did: She was never right again. She wouldn't use magic, but she couldn't get rid of it; it turned inward and drove her mad, it exploded out of her when she couldn't control it, and at times she was strange and dangerous. But mostly she was sweet and scared and harmless."

—Aberforth Dumbledore talking about his younger sister Ariana

This movie may explain that Ariana was an obscurial but it doesn't explain why Cedric held his wand like a gun.

He's either ambidextrous or was pointing it at Kristen Stewart.

am I the only one who laughs every time Dumbledore is talking about Cedrics death and says the word 'memory'?

Cedric was a ****boy. Everyone knew it.

You don't need to be defending him. He's dead, and not real.

Cedric wasn't developed enough for Dumbledore lionizing him at the end of GOF to feel earned.

I don't think it's a theory anymore - this movie pretty much confirmed that after being attacked by muggles, Ariana became an Obscurus/Obscurial. So I would assume that she was the reason Grindewald had an idea that getting one would be beneficial to him.

Keep in mind that the scene wasnt meant as a fourth wall break directed at sad viewers. It was a logical scene in which Dumbledore memorialized a dead student and attempted to comfort the student body. Cedric had been at school for 7 years. He was on the cusp of life. He had friends at hogwarts. He had a girlfriend. He had family. All who were devastated. He was a quidditch player. He was school champion and probably a hard working student. He faced dragons, creatures of the deep, a murderous maze, and stared down two psychopaths before being killed. Any decent teacher or adult would memorialize a teenage student that did all that.

Also, Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler are predicted to return in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2", so is Ezra Miller. Expect much more Johnny Depp in the sequel. Fans will see the inclusion of Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald.

It is also predicted that Zoe Kravitz would have a "meatier role" as Leta Lestrange, Newt's first love.

As of right now Queen Jo, David Yates, Eddie Redmayne and James Newton Howard are the only ones confirmed to return for the sequel. :)

Gambon freaking attacking Harry was pretty jarring, though I did think he improved and was a lot better in Half-Blood Prince.

It's like 4 seconds out of his performance across 5 films.

I still preferred Richard Harris as Dumbledore. It's too bad he passed so soon after starting the role.

Me too. Harris is my Dumbledore up until book 7. The performance Gambone gives is more in line with the manipulator Dumbledore we see in book 7.
