Yes, because Lou Ferrigno actually providing the Hulk lines in the Avengers movies totally takes away from Mark Ruffalo.

You don't have the internet continuously saying Lou Ferrigno is the one and only Hulk like you do with Lynda. Some people don't even read WW and claim she is the one and only.

Neither Carter nor Lawless HAVE to be there. I agree that them having throwaway roles sounds kinda gimmicky.

But if they are there cause they suit a particular role, I'd be open to it.

That's why Ferrigno being there doesn't bug me as much- he's very good at what he does and it obviously works for the Hulk character. So, who am I to argue with that.

hey if Lou can have a cameo in 2 Hulk movies why can't Lynda have a cameo in a WW movie as much as I would LOVE to have her in a more prominent role just having her in there in some form would make me happy .

I've no idea who Lou is.

Anyway, I find casting Lynda Carter to be quite a stupid gimmick and casting Lucy Lawless again as an Amazon to be a gimmick to a lesser extent and primarily a really uninspired casting. There is literally no reason for any of them to get roles in this movie, beside for *wink, *wink "Xena and original Wonder Woman..." *wink

Stupid and unnecessary.

In our community you will find someone, but the fandom will be upset with the most obscure stuff out there. Someone out there is upset right now about not having a Howard The Duck film for the modern age. Count on it.

The TV show was viewed as a joke (and still is) by the time of Burton's Batman, and now people don't hold Adam West at the same level of Reeve or Lynda.

So why I don't see anyone complaining about the (supposed) Reeve "cameo" in MoS? People think it's a great homage, etc etc.

Where are the people calling it a gimmick?

I don't care about gimmicks all that much. I'm used to the Stan Lee in Marvel films things because of how long it's been going on but in general I don't crave that sort of thing.

I just want them to focus on making a good film, not reviving old actors careers. Don't get me wrong, I like Carter and West but I just want a good film. There is no Reeve cameo in Man of Steel. Something might have been filmed but it never made it into the film so it doesn't count.

They could easily have a role for her, like a military officer, or someone like Julia Kapatelis, or even a goddess, and I don't see any problem with that, it wouldn't make the movie worse. And it's not like they make auditions for every role in a movie. Even some JL actors seem to not have auditioned for their roles, instead were asked by Snyder (Momoa and Ezra).

I'm not saying that I'm going to write the film off if they have a gimmick cameo but female led Superhero films have never been treated seriously so my hope right now is for a studio and then filmmaker to treat them seriously. Supergirl, Catwoman and Elektra are particularly terrible, I just want the studios to put the same care into this film that they put into films starring men. I just can't care about gimmicks at this moment. I want real casting that will help the film creatively and at the box office.

And why not? Like I said, they don't audition for every role. So why ask another actress to play a minor character just as well, but who doesn't have the same appeal to fans?

The thing is, this "gimmick" is not bad. No one would criticize the movie for it, and it's a plus for some people. So I don't get why it would take away from the quality of the movie.

Not to mention, for the greedy minds, that she probably wouldn't cost so much as another actress, considering they could use more familiar faces for supporting roles.
