Giving Carter another type of role than just a cameo will take me out of the film to be honest. Eh. Snyder co has not been know to do those types of cameos so I'm good.

I'm not saying that I'm going to write the film off if they have a gimmick cameo but female led Superhero films have never been treated seriously so my hope right now is for a studio and then filmmaker to treat them seriously. Supergirl, Catwoman and Elektra are particularly terrible, I just want the studios to put the same care into this film that they put into films starring men. I just can't care about gimmicks at this moment. I want real casting that will help the film creatively and at the box office.

I wouldn't be too concerned. I definitely hear you load and clear and agree but I think WB/DC knows this and is taking it very seriously.

I'm actually really looking forward to where the DCCU is going with it's females. WW, Enchantress, Katana, Harley and whoever Malone may or may not be playing…exciting stuff.

I think she said that she wouldn't do a cameo so my opinion is keep her out of the film completely. No offense to Carter, because again I like her and appreciate her keeping the Wonder Woman character alive outside of comic books, but I don't want that kind of distraction.

Yeah I probably should stop my worrying for now.

I look forward to the DC films women as well. Can't wait to see who they cast as Mera in Aquaman for instance.

And why not? Like I said, they don't audition for every role. So why ask another actress to play a minor character just as well, but who doesn't have the same appeal to fans?

The thing is, this "gimmick" is not bad. No one would criticize the movie for it, and it's a plus for some people. So I don't get why it would take away from the quality of the movie.

Not to mention, for the greedy minds, that she probably wouldn't cost so much as another actress, considering they could use more familiar faces for supporting roles.

I would. Putting a previous Wonder Woman in a new Wonder Woman's movie, perhaps doesn't show that they don't take it seriously per se, but is definitely distracting and shows that they hold it in different regard than Batman and Superman one. Why wasn't something like that done with Batman and Superman in their many films and they do so with Wonder Woman in her very first one? I don't want to sound like a more unhinged feminist, but one can't help, but think it is because she is a female character.

Well, that's just silly and way over analytic, so I don't have anything to add.
Everyone loves cameos like that in TV, so I don't get why it would be the opposite in the movies. John Wesley Shipp in particular plays more than a cameo, and everybody loves it, and it's not distracting at all.

And Reeve had a cameo on Smallville.

I actually don't mind a cameo, but do mind a role with a couple lines for Carter. But she does not want a cameo herself. Eh.

WB likes to keep their stuff in the family, we just need to go back and check all the 45yrold+ actresses that have done more than one film for them recently.

And I also don't get why an actual minor role would be more gimmicky than a Stan Lee style cameo.

She actually said she wouldn't like a cameo like Stan Lee, which is not to say it couldn't be a very minor role, like she did in Sky High or Dukes of Hazzard. She probably would be up for that.

Without going into details, as the conversation that might ensue might be considered as "flaming", I'll just say that you pretty much confirmed my point with this.

Wondering what she would or wouldn't take is my last priority for this movie tho. No offense to her. She is still a foxy lady.

:sly:

There will be plenty of time to worry later. Right now with the addition of Pine as Trevor and Jenkins behind the camera I think it's safe to assume it's going to be good.

Chastain please.

Wait, why are people saying Snyder is in charge of the casting over Jenkins?

I remember when everybody has this "neat" idea to cast Michael Keaton as Commissioner Gordon...
That was just crazy.

I don't mind that senator who has a cameo all the time in Batman stuff...but as soon as I see Christian Bale standing in the background somewhere...I'm out.

I don't know.

As usual I'm sure the Wonder Woman casting director, the director (Patty Jenkins) and the studio will be casting the film. I know Snyder is the DCEU overseer creatively but until I see a 300, Watchmen, or Sucker Punch alum show up on the casting list I'm going to assume he's not all that involved with casting the film.

Meryl Streep would make an excellent Julia Kapatelis, if that character exists in the DCEU.

MOS had lots of cameos from previous Superman projects, including Amy Adams. Most notably a lot of Smallville alums (Amy, Alessandro Juliani, MacKenzie Gray, Tahmoh Penikett, etc).

Crazy the amount of people that want Lynda as Hippolyta. Why settle when you can potentially get a better/more accomplished actress for the role?

Lynda sounds a bit like an old woman now if you've heard her recently.

Just to clarify what Lynda said about making a cameo.
This is what she said in 2010 (yes, another failed attempt):

"A cameo is kind of a broad word," she said when asked if she'd accept a cameo in the movie which will be produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. "As they say: "There are no small parts, there are only small actors". If it's something that is gratuitous I won't do it; if it's just for me to show up in it I wouldn't do it, but if there is something written that they think would be appropriate then most definitely I'd consider it. I would love it."

And most people that think she should be Hippolyta don't consider Hippolyta is not supposed to be old (specially the fans of the show, because there Hippolyta is an old woman)

Michael Douglas wants her for Wasp in a potential Ant-Man sequel. I guess she could work as Hippolyta though.
His wife in the flashbacks?
I can't see them changing the actress for the daughter
