We Cannot Defeat Our Enemies Like This!!

Pretty much, which makes this whole war/occupation really irrelevant.

True. I never said that I agree with the war.

Carter said:
Okay, say you've got a suspect in Iraq who knows where a bomb is supposed to explode. He won't tell you. Time is running out.

I say "torture away"

I think it can be necessary.
Would you want one of our troops tortured in the same situation? Would you want one of ours tortured for knowing key information that he refuses to tell the enemy about?

Do I want our troops shot at in the first place? Of course not.
But it's war, not some game with rules

But it can be effective in interrogation
No, it usually ends with innocent people confessing to crimes they did not commit. More often than not, torture gets you nowhere.

Not if you know how to do it right

the inquisition tortured people into confessinf alliances with the devil.
the Salem witch trials through threats and torture produced guilty veredicts.

besides, that situation where "the bomb is about to go off" is strictly for movies, never happens in real life.

believe you me.

Yeah, torture really isn't needed...it's just for the sadistic people who have nothing better to do. Sometimes I guess, such as getting someone to tell you where some bomb is about to go off...but other than that, torture is not needed.

Hey Carter, who do you think you are? The Gestapo??

There's a great joke about the Gestapo. You: You ever hear of the Gestapo?
Person you're talking to: Yes/no
You: LIAR!!!! *slap them really hard in the face!!!*
It's hilarious.

Anyway...

Carter says something like, some Iraqi dude knows where bombs are, do you torture him to get the info. It's really not as simple as that.

Gitmo is full of people that have not had trials. British civillians were there for years and finally released because of the work of some people in Britain and the government. What's the sense of interrogating someone, much less torturing them, if you don't even know if they're an enemy combatant. How's some dude from Britain that went to Afghanistan for a wedding gonna have any idea about where to find terrorists?

There are many tests that show torture isn't very effective either.

Dude, you have Che Guevara as your avvy, of course you'll defend terrorists.

Geneva convention says otherwise.

Do these terrorists fit this description??????

. Persons belonging, or having belonged, to the armed forces of the occupied country, if the occupying Power considers it necessary by reason of such allegiance to intern them, even though it has originally liberated them while hostilities were going on outside the territory it occupies, in particular where such persons have made an unsuccessful attempt to rejoin the armed forces to which they belong and which are engaged in combat, or where they fail to comply with a summons made to them with a view to internment.

No they do not!!!!!!!!

This is insane!!

So we should torture and kill all these people and resort to their tactics. The same tactics were there to fight against. Stop being a hypocrite.

The Bible clearly says that in this world we live in, there is a time for war! A time to put down your enemy!

And this same Jesus will one day return and put down His enemies...
The Rider on the White Horse
11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter."[a] He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
17And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, "Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 18so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and mighty men, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, small and great."

19Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. 20 But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 21The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

Jesus never said to be a fool.

DO UNTO OTHERS, BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!! *gouges hot poker in prisoner's eye*
