We Could Have Made DarkSentinel Wrestling Thread Champion If We Wanted! - Part 203

Yeah, while ROH may have made Joe in our eyes in terms of first putting him on the map, and looking at it from our perspective TNA likely hurt Joe more than helped him, it's thanks to the continued global exposure of being on weekly TV through TNA that Samoa Joe is as big a name as he is. As celebrated as his ROH work was, that alone would not likely have been enough to give him the clout and presence to keep the name Samoa Joe in NXT and negotiate the reportedly highly cushy deal with WWE that he did.

I watched NXT Rival last night, and it was another amazing show. While Hideo Itama VS Tyler Breeze was a really good opener, most of the show's first half was rather unremarkable. But it was in the last 3 matches that the show hit the stratosphere. It's hard to describe, but these NXT shows seem to capture the feeling of watching the amazing ROH shows from their heyday with their back-to-back showstopper matches, only on a WWE product.

Finn Balor VS Adrian Neville was fantastic. I could instantly see Balor had star quality when I saw him wrestle live in Glasgow, but he's built and built on it. His entrance is electric, and he carries the persona established in that entrance into his ring work through the match. I loved how the match just built and built, with Neville trying to ground the pace, but Balor just being relentless and steadily chipping away at Neville until the tide turned.

The women's four-way was another stunner from this division, which has been a revelation for me since starting to watch the product. This was like the female equivalent of Joe/Styles/Daniels from TNA Unbreakable. Maybe not quite on that level, but very much in that vein as every entrant in the match had a story and an approach to the others they were selling against the backdrop of a relentless pace that never let up. It's so impressive that all four of these women are not only impressive in the ring, but have clearly-defined characters. Fantastic match.

The drama between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens was off the charts. The pre-match video sold it beautifully, as did the entrances and the intense pre-match staredown. The match itself may not have quite matched Balor/Neville or the women's match for pace, but it didn't need to, as this was all about enhancing the narrative. Kevin Owens just dominated here, for pretty much the whole match, making it one of the more one-sided world title matches I've seen. This seemed to be an exercise in crushing the spirit of the audience, as it's rare a crowd will get LESS vocal as a match progresses. But that happened here, with Owens quashing every attempted comeback and every attempt to get the crowd back in the match and behind Zayn. The story here was that Owens had got in Zayn's head and pushed him into a match he wasn't ready for, and that Owens had studied Zayn to the point where he knew him inside out, and Zayn just couldn't get truly into the match. Nguyen, of course, Owens destroyed him.

I could write a whole post about this, and likely will, but I could see Zayn/Owens becoming the Raven VS Tommy Dreamer of our time. I hope this feud continues into WWE one day.

I'm starting to think that Kaitlyn may challenge Paige for the title of selfie queen.

Enjoy the NXT women's division while it lasts because it's probably going to hit slump after we get multiple call-ups.

I pray these NXT women don't get wasted on the main roster. I hope Steph and Triple H have enough pull to let them do their thing.

IDK about that...they got KC Cassidy, Jessie McKay, Jasmin Areebi, Zahra Schreiber ready and waiting for when that time comes.

Zahra was trained by Truth Martini and the other girls are already Indy wrestlers.

That's funny, I always thought she was getting over just fine.

As of now in NXT are Bayley, Charlotte, Becky, and Carmella the only face divas?/QUOTE]

Is Carmella a face? she always seems to get boo's when shes with Enzo and Big Cass.

The only girls I see ready for call ups today are Charlotte and Sasha.

Bayley and Becky Lynch will only benefit more in the long run by staying in NXT for a while. While those two could definitely help the main roster they could also get lost in the shuffle, so it comes down to a timing thing.

You also have Emma back down there reinventing herself and Eva Marie will be there soon to do the same.

I think the feud with Blake and Murphy has managed to turn the crowd more in her favor. I think her turning them down to stay loyal to Enzo and Big Cass earned her some face cred.

Plus they've teamed her up with Bayley lately in house shows. And from what I've seen of her in some videos, I find her kind of adorable.

Call me crazy, but I think the Divas division will be the one part of the WWE where you can have a lot more up and down movement between the main roster and NXT, with the exception of the Bellas and the perks they get maybe.

Let's say that Vince stops being stubborn and decides to step down and retire from everything leaving Triple H finally put in charge.

Would he be in charge of the main roster and NXT or would he have to focus mainly of the main roster and put someone else in charge of NXT?

I think Triple H would have a hand in both but I think he would delegate a bit on NXT. NXT is Triple H baby so he will always have a hand in it I imagine.

I would like to know if when HHH does get in charge will the main product be like NXT fully. I like the sports feel approach NXT has.

I would suspect someone like Road Dogg would take over some of the day to day duties.

I just found out that tonight's Raw is at Nassau Colosseum, the last one there ever. Should be a wild crowd.
