no you were a little right. my theory is that this movie could totally go either way, but the fact is they clearly dont expect it to get nominations. personally, i think it would be a great christmas relaease but ig uess its cool thet theyre gonna take their time with this picture.

Whoa a March release? Seems like they're trying to make this look like more than a another comic movie.

Yeah, given the "out-there" premise, moving it to March pretty much killed it's Oscar hopes... unless the movie is absolutely phenomenal. It's certainly got it's work cut out for it... I can't remember any movies that were released in the first half of the year that got any major Oscar recognition other than Silence of the Lambs.

I hope that this one is the exception... more than wanting it to get Oscar recognition, I want it to be so good that it even merits that kind of buzz.

Following the Synopsis they mentioned that its based on DC comics and the recognition it got, but no mention of Moore or Gibbons. Now I know Moore doesn't want to be associated with any of the movie adaptations of his work. But I think when they mention the graphic novel, they should mention the creators. I guess we won't be seeing his name in the opening credits this time as well.

A better look at the Gibbons' poster.

Saving Private Ryan, I believe Braveheart.

All depends on the finished product, if WB thinks they can snag some nominations (outside special effects/costume design) then they could probably bump it up to a December release if everything with the movie is done but box office wise they may see it as a bigger money maker in March like 300 was. November/December 2008 is pretty crammed. WB already moved 10,000 BC from a December '07 release to March '08. Studios will stay clear of that date in March because its the next film from the guy who made 300 and it has superheros. If it was in December its playing Russian Roulette with the other big holiday films. Someone's movie is going to bomb, remember Star Trek Nemesis? WB also might have looked at their 2008 film lineup which was full except for December and their 2009 film lineup and said they could move this one and hopefully duplicate the same success as 300 and what 10,000 BC will probably have.

pretty basic website, hope they can spruce it up and add more stuff to it later.

Production Blog now features a bit about Comic-Con including pics of Snyder, Ackerman and Haley.
