New Incredible Site update! Includes score and new dialogue!

Well, i don´t think they´re portraying him as evil.
The thing is that Ozymandias has an important but small part in the story.
And for the most part he´s "evil". So, when choosing lines for the promos, i guess it´s pretty difficult to choose a cool and "not evil" line for him. I think they´re making a pretty good job.
If you didn´t read the novel, and if you´re not a film freak who overanalizes every trailer (like we all do:)) you won´t notice he is the villian.
And of course, we are forgetting that shot of the New York attack, is just a "random explosion" shot for non-readers of Watchmen.

Excellent. The more I see the more I get excited.

I still think they are portraying Ozy as too evil. He is obviously the bad guy, and they even show the destruction of NY in his video. Giving away the ending before the movie even begins seems a bit stupid....

I suppose they are advertising for assuming that everyone knows the story already, which is a poor assumption.
I doubt the people who haven't read the book would think Veidt is the villain. They probably would think he's like the leader of the "Watchmen", if anything, because of that quote about saving this world. After showing a few friends the trailers, a lot of them think Rorschach's the bad guy.

Good to hear. I just don't want the revelation ruined for Watchmen virgins.

I'm really digging the music; Rorschach's and Manhattan's especially.

And it's good to hear "****es and politicians". :)

Yes, the music was the most pleasant surprise, it just works perfectly for each character

Love the "****es and politicians" thing that would have sent me into a rampage. but I have to admit that I have had the opinion that Ozymandias is so obviously evil since I first saw the costume. It seems like this site and all the ads they put out, aren't going to do anything to even suggest that he is good. Also just gotta say that I've always hated the redesign

If I met the designer/decider I'd be like "seriously, have you read this?? You are going to have to cut so much of the creativity of the original book and one of your splashes of creativity is a Batman & Robin reference???" This is kinda insulting that so much was put in this book that has to be removed because of the format and one of the thing added is a crummy joke I would bet money didn't get a "heh" out of anyone

The score reminds me of Blade Runner.

But when I heard Rorscach's quote it was like having sex. I can't believe he said the exact same thing in the GN and that they revealed the whole thing on the site.

I was just listening to Rorschach's theme again, and at about

0:02-0:03 I can hear a faint dog bark,or it might just be me lol.

I think its definitley gonna be used for the Roche scene.

Really great stuff there. It may be too much to ask, but can anyone get the score on mp3's? Unfortunately, I cannot access the site, and all of your reactions have made me very anxious. It would be very much appreciated.

i checked the site when i woke up, at like 8 AM. I was still out of it, and when i heard "Dog carcass in alley this morning", i immediately woke up and was freaking out. It was so cool to hear that. When it was over, i was giddy as all hell.

The score is great. I hear lots of Blade Runner in it, which i love, and i hear John Carpenter alot as well, which is great(this is more prominent in the prison break sequence). I love it. I don't normally buy movie scores(Batman, BB, Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet and Philip Glass's score for the 1931 Dracula are the only scores i own), but i intend to add Watchmen to that collection.

Why cant the DB official site be like this? :(

Veidt looks like an ******* from the second you meet him in the comics. He's someone who thinks and acts like he's above everyone else. At no point do you ever think "He's the hero".

And that's the point.

If I met the designer/decider I'd be like "seriously, have you read this?? You are going to have to cut so much of the creativity of the original book and one of your splashes of creativity is a Batman & Robin reference???"

Are you implying that the "creativity" found in the original book is gold tights, a purple tunic and sash thingie, a generic looking gold belt, and an 80's headband?

http://goneelsewhere.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/ozymandias.jpg

He still has gold on him. He still has purple. He still has his long purple cloak, and elements of the purple sash.

His 80's halo/headband is now significant beyond "it sort of looks like a halo".

His gold shoulderpiece has been adapted, and remains intact.

His gold gauntlets remain.

The all seeing eye has been moved to the belt.

He still has purple feet.

Essentially, every striking part of his costume except the bright golden tights and the "tunic" has been taken into account in the redesign.

This is kinda insulting that so much was put in this book that has to be removed because of the format and one of the thing added is a crummy joke I would bet money didn't get a "heh" out of anyone.

What crummy joke?

I suppose they are advertising for assuming that everyone knows the story already, which is a poor assumption.

How many people do you honestly think can say "He's the villain...he causes that explosion in New York, and he does so to avoid nuclear war, and it may well be the right thing to do?"

Even if they know he's the villain...they know nothing.

Just wanted to say thanks for the link to Rorscach's theme, i was wondering what that would sound like. I've only listened to the opening lines of R's journal and his theme, had a partial listen to the comedian's theme(which does sound very like a tune from Bladerunner) and a little of DrM's theme, don't think i want to hear anymore, want to save it for watching the movie.

Dr. Manhattan's score has some Godly tunes, fits him

Rorschach's them reminds me very heavily of Bates' score for 300. His music and Nite Owl's are the only pieces that really sound like those of Bates. I'd have to say the most pleasant surprises were Laurie and Blake's themes. Blake's was so perfect for the era and fitting with his character, wheras Laurie's just nailed her character and the emotional center of the story. It's so damn endearing. It's a musical manifestation of how she and Dan feel for each other. It's certainly got the most heart of any of Bates' other work.

Blakes, Ozys, and Manhattans are perfection
Rorschachs, Silks, and Nite Owls are great too but the others are perfection fo sho

What I love most about Doctor Manhattan's is that it sounds quite reverential, or perhaps somber, as befits his godlike status. But also... it's just so lonely.

but I have to admit that I have had the opinion that Ozymandias is so obviously evil since I first saw the costume.

I saw the costumes, comic con discussion, and the first trailer before I read the graphic novel and I was shocked that Veidt did what he did.

I don't even think evil is a good word to describe him. He's not evil. He wants to save the world. He just strongly believes that the ends justify the means.

Ouch. That doesn't do the book justice in the least.
Oh I'm sure it doesn't. I have every intention of getting the book and reading it before the release. It IS still in print, right?
