sorry if this is old news...(from movieblog)

The good folks over at IESB are now reporting that their sources are saying we are just days away from an official announcement on who will be doing the voice of Megatron (The leader of the Decepticons). Looks like it's coming down to 2 guys.

1) Hugo Weaving. Everything this guy does is pure gold. He wakes up and pisses excellence. Transformers fans should be nothing but thrilled if this guy voices Megatron. After hearing him do V for Vendetta, I'm convinced he would be amazing.

2) Frank Welker. The man who voiced Megatron in the original cartoon show. Fans would love to hear him come back, since Optimus is already back too! The sources over there say that this is your MAIN candidate and that we could be just days away from an official announcement proclaiming Frank as Lord of the Decepticons again.

So here's a question for you. Of the two listed above... which do you think would do the better job? If the OTHER person got picked... would you still be ok with it?

i'd prefer Welker if for no other reason than i think he has a great chemistry with Cullen. but i wouldn't be opposed to Weaving, his voice work is excellent and i'd be excited to see what he would come up with for Megatron.

now that i think about it hugo....

his voice in VFV was oscar worthy... and im sure he could pull off an amazing performance.

i wouldn't him to use his V voice, although that was absolutely perfect for V, this version needs a slightly animalistic sound to his voice, in accordance to the character in the script.

yeah well... his V voice was different from his Smith voice...so....

As much as I'm rooting for Welker I would be ecstatic for Weaving to voice Megatron. But I sure as hell Megatron has more than a few lines...otherwise all the effort would not be worth it.

edit...btw xw2, your options for the poll kinda suck.

Was this your own wording ?:woot:

I'm not overly bothered,it would be cool to have the 2 originals opposite each other on the big screen but Weaving would do Megs justice as well IMO

Weaving is cool. But, he's not Megatron.

The fact that Megs' design is so different from G1 means that I don't really care who voices him. I'd be happy with either :)

I'm guessing you just loved Hugo Weaving in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert alot.

Welker's raspy Megs voice fits the trash monster design more than Hugo, IMO.

Id perfer welker, but what I really want is that in the climax insted of that kid the REAL megatron shows up and puts this srapnel and celetic knot megatron down with one blast from his arm cannon the way Galvatron put down Starscream.

Actually that little screech in "Cybertronian" that we heard in the teaser best fits that design. It doesn't look like he'd speak any form of human language and be believable.

Weaving as Megatron? holy $#!+skies....that'd be awesome!

i was rooting for Welker until i heard his recent "old man" version of Megatron. if he ends up with the role he better cough up all that phlegm before he gets in front of the mic.

Don't make me thrash you.

Do it anyway. :word:

Oh and Welker. I think Weaving would be a great Death's Head though. Something like his 'V' voice but a little more sinister.

Welker. Definatly not David Kaye from Beast Wars if anyone was thinking of him...

I can't see/hear Hugo Weaving providing Megatron's voice.

I'm sure Weaving could provide an adequate voice. He'd probably watch some source material and then make it his own. If it can't be Welker I would really have loved Leonard Nimoy to give it a shot. His Galvatron was awesome.
