World Web shooter shop class - Part 3

well, I guess you could, but I wouldn't waste too much time on them.
1.) They're not hard to make, I could whip up a few if I had the materials in a few minutes.

2.) They don't have any practical use. If you did make them, it would be only for looks, seeing as the only thing they're made to do is slash at the neck of giant titan monsters.

Also, I think some of you may have misunderstood me. I don't have any intention of making this thing right now, because I'm too busy. If I did, it would be in a year or so. So if you guys did start a new thread, you would for the most part be on your own. Not to say that I wouldn't pop in and help out every once in a while. And I ALWAYS answer any questions you might have about anything. Just PM me.

No problem dude. Sorta like my Christmas present to the forums. and hey, no hard feelings about before?

Were cool elxiah no hard feeling and im all for making the suit but we would have to have a pretty hidden blade to not be spotted by a cop with it and you have to practice with the blade. But thats too deadly for me im not trying to kill someone.

You guys, I need suggestions on what to talk about in my second episode of Web Talks. This is a series where I go in depth on different topics pertaining to the Web shooter. Post your suggestions here or in the IRC if you have them, and I will talk about them in the future.

Are you using any ic's in the final build like arduino's or pichip's.
You could talk about the reason for nicklecromium wire as a heating coil, and the nesesary voltage for the solinoid valve.

Alright, I'll talk about those things. Also, I am using an ATMega168-20PU as the controller for the shooter.

BTW does anyone know how much psi goes in an axe can without it blowing up?

Hello guys, new here. I've stalked this thread for a couple of years now, but never had the knowledge or skills to contribute anything. I am now a biology major and have a rudimentary knowledge of chemistry.

In any case, the use of some sort of strength amplifier to allow for swinging may not be so far fetched.

These students have built a strength amplifying robotic arm. The kicker is that, "The final product cost less than $2,000 and weighs 18 pounds!" Certainly we would not have access to this prototype of even that amount of money, but the point is that it's possible.

The question isnt if your strong enough to swing. The question is if your body won't be ripped to pieces. Which it will. We used to have a few physics majors in here. We all did the math several times and analyzed all the variables. To swing like spider-man, you would have to be inhuman. No matter how strong you are, you can't change how fragile human tissue is. Sorry to disappoint.

Also, the OP, along with most of the members of this thread agreed that the possibility of swinging would no longer be discussed here. If you do want to, there is a separate thread for that. If anyone really wants it, I can go dig up the link.

Btw, a message to the regular posters here:

My apologies, I won't bring up the swinging again. It was just a passing thought. Well in any case, I hope to be able to contribute to something here. I didn't know that people were still working on this, so now that I can, I hope to help.

No worries man. There are still people here. Most people, like me, have already finished our shooters a while ago and just pop in to help other people or just talk. We mostly hang out in the chatzy room. The only person that I know of that is still working on his is Wadaltmon, and I'm pretty sure he's going to stop soon as well. Some of us have been at it for years, so its nice to have the place a bit quiet (that is until the ASM2 fans rip this place to pieces like a virgin at a fraternity party).

Not exactly an appropriate simile, but effective, I guess. And I don't plan on stopping anytime soon unless I finish the thing.

Hey guys. I'm back.
I've got a couple of questions:
1) Would syrup be a good adhesive or elastomer?
2) Does anyone know of any good household items that can be added to the formula? I'm on a tight budget for the project and don't want to spend loads of money on the web-fluid.

I believe that we should look for cheap solutions to the 'formula conundrum' and possibly use common household products as this would make refilling the shooters much cheaper and simpler.

Hey guys.
I've finally started work on my shooter. Basically, it's just going to be a pimped-up grapple gun. However, at the end of the rope, there is going to be a small capsule, rather than a hook. When the capsule makes contact with a solid surface, it will open, releasing a quantity of web fluid onto the target. When the fluid solidifies, it will bond the end of the rope with whatever you're trying to shoot.
I know it sounds basic, but I think it's easier and cheaper than producing an entire tank full of web fluid, which could potentially be very time-consuming. This shooter will cost next to nothing to build and will use a modified web formula that can be made from household products, if possible.

I have based my designs on the simple notion that we are trying to replicate the procceses used by Peter Parker to build his web shooters. Now, considering the fact that Peter Parker was relatively poor, we should try to use cheap and easy-to-find materials in both our shooters and our formulas.

Thanks for reading. :)

p.s. I hope I haven't bored you all with the huge paragraph.
