World Web shooter shop class

I'll probably end up making two different webshooters one for hot glue the other for the foam.

I started Mig Welding today and learned something from my teacher. Adhesives create as strong a bond as welding when the surface is flat and the adhesive is clamped till it fully cures. Apparently, while I wouldn't try it, You can make cartridges from steel pieces and epoxy. The reason it's as strong is because the bond doesn't change the integrity of the metal. Welding makes it brittle.

My Welding teacher allows me to use any machine as long as I have passed the safety test required though I have been trying to help people new to our welding class get down the basics of SMAW. If you were to make the lever, how thick do you think the metal would be?

Oh hey! How are you doing? The metal would probably we the thickness between that of a butterknife's blade, and the handle. Somewhere in the middle. That would be cool.

Hey guys, First let me apologize for my absence. I've been very busy with school and ROTC and work so i haven't been on here from time to time. But I've had little time to check out previous pages and idea and i must say that I'm really liking the idea guys. But a few things that came across in mind:

White widow about 4-6 months ago you stated that peter's web fluid was one liquid. With the combination of the graphene magnesium and dry ice (I think that what you guys are using correct me if i'm wrong) Can this all be mixed together into a sort pf super-polymer. Why still keeping it's properties of being a liquid which when sheared out of a nozzle it's create the web strands? I think you also mention cyanoacrylate again. Will this be in the formula also? As far as the web-shooters themselves is everybody going with the book bag routine? Like a streamlined backpack that pumps the web fluid at a high speed into the wrist shooters? I would love to hear whatelse you guys accomplished so far and I'm taking chemistry this semester so maybe if i can get some more knowledge in i will be able to help you guys out a little bit. I know I've been gone long but I still wanna be a part of this project.

Oh hey Spectacular23. I was wondering where you went. I understand what you mean though. With work, college, and preperation for a two year mission trip, I don't think I can come on this site alot anymore either.

The fluid is one liquid. The magnesium and dry ice is just to get two of the materials to mix into the fluid. Cyanoacrylate is back in the formula as it is still the only material that bonds that quickly and strongly. I also found out that you can buy cyanoacrylate sprays that with one spray will instantly harden it. With the use of a acetone as a first solvent and using water as a second solvent for the rest of the formula, this should be a very fast acting formula as soon as it leaves the shooter.

As for the backpack thing. I would only use that to hold a tank.

I hope you enjoy chemistry. It's a fun class if you can realize the potential consequences of chemistry.

One issue of ASM, back in the early 90s had Spidey make new web shooters from advanced plastics so they won't trip metal detectors at airports. Also, the new plastic shooter had an LED to indicate when the cartridge was running low on web fluid.

I heard about that somewhere. If I could get a hold of a plastic that was strong enough, I would try it. The led should be easy but I don't know how to do that yet.

Thanks for all your help! I probably won't be on at all, or not often, but thanks!

Just for the record, I make a frightening discovery. I won't get to use my web shooter at halloween, people might get angry in a crowded environment. "Watch were you point that thing!" and so on. Now I plan to do something else for Halloween, but not a web shooter. I will continue my project, just less priority, and more fun-based. I always finish what I start.

Well, after my friend freaked out after hitting him with fluid...

Spidey 44; Whoops! Hate it when that happens.

I'm very interested to see how the web shooters in the new upcoming film will work. Rumor has it, he stills the formula from oscorp or something idk:

I know you don't know, though. I won't give up on Spidey yet... Though I almost have...

So out of all of us, how many are able to do anything close to Dub's design last page? I honestly am not able to at the moment, because I don't have the resources or welding experience to be able to do any of it (Not to mention finances). But is anyone else able to?

You don't need any welding though. I designed the latest blueprint with the thought that you don't need any tools.
