St. Peter and Satan were having an argument one day about baseball. Satan proposed a game to be played on neutral grounds between a select team from the heavenly host and his own hand-picked boys.

"Very well," said the gatekeeper of Heaven. "But you realize, I hope, that we've got all the good players and the best coaches."

"I know, and that's all right," Satan answered unperturbed. "We've got all the umpires."

In Zoroastrian mythology, the god of light, Ahura Mazda, and the god of darkness, Ahriman, were born of one being--neither male nor female, neither good nor evil, the lord of eternity, "Zurvan".

In some stars, the gravitational forces become so intense, that electrons (negative particles) and protons (positive particles) are pressed together to create pulsing neutrons (neutral particles). These Neutron Stars are very small, dense, and extremely bright, and spin very fast--giving off a powerful beam like a light house.

In kabbalah, the tree of life has three primary paths or pillars, that lead to and from the Supreme Source of all things seen and unseen. This source, Kether, might be considered "The Supreme Being", called "YHWH" and "The Father" in Judaism and Christianity, and "Allah" in Islam; while in UTA this is "ANU". This Supreme Being, however, sits enthroned over the dark pillar of Severity, as well as the white pillar of Mercy, and the foundation of ITs throne is the Grey Pillar of Equity.

NOTE: In Anuistic kabbalah, A is Binah (Understanding), N is Daath (Knowledge), and U is Chokhma (Wisdom), that when united become the Kether (Crown).

In some gnostic Christian sects, Jesus was viewed as the Right Hand of God, while Lucifer/Satan was the Left Hand of God... Making God him/it/herself what??? The Lord of the Light & the Darkness!

In Wicca, there is The Goddess and The God, the feminine and the masculine energies of nature--the nurturing and the agressive, the herbavore and the carnivore. Together they are one wholeness of life and death in perpetual struggle and harmony.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So we have a concept of balance, which is a reflection of the Middle Way of Anuism.

In a world that has so long been permeated and dominated by black and white thinking --good vs. evil, man vs. woman, heaven vs. hell, God vs. Satan, left vs. right, conservative vs. liberal-- it is difficult for the mind to even conceive of any other course. It goes on and on, perpetuated by religion, literature, politics, and media. Even in mystical circles we are told repeatedly, "As above, so below."

However, the very symbol of Anu embodies the central teaching of a third polarity--the world above and the world below, balanced upon the heart and horizon of the One who is between.

Yet what does this mean, in practice rather than mere theory, to strive to walk the Middle Road? What exactly are we advocating to mankind? Am I saying, that we should just allow evil to flourish unchecked, and allow criminals to run wild? Am I promoting an end to morality and ethics, law and order?

NO!

BUT, Anuism is not about our relationships with each other and the world, so much as our relationship with the Supreme Source of all things.

Nature is nature, including the nature of man. We must first come to realize, that God did not create us to be angels, nor demons... For God made angels and demons to be what they are, even as God fashioned humanity to be what it is.

And what are we? Demons! Angels! Elementals! Mortal and Immortal! Animals and Gods! We create and we destroy, we war and make peace, we love and we hate. How few among us can truly be called purely good or absolutely evil, with no speck of the opposite. How many saints and how many sinners have you known--and have you known anyone who is entirely either?

I have watched so-called light workers filled with self-love and judgment, and lovers of darkness who are compassionate and wise. I have heard of hard working and righteous men, who molest their daughters and beat their wives in secret; and I have known of bumbs who would share with you their last nickle or shot of rum. I have seen savages who guided the lost to safety, and civilized men who took lives without remorse. I have experienced the "good people" who gossip and condemn, and the "bad people" who accept and forgive.

Our world has vile selfishness and wonderous selflessness, but most are indifferent or detached. By the law of nature, we are governed no less than beasts by the drives of survival... The majority cannot rise above the common callings, to breed and eat and sleep, and work to breed, eat and sleep. The greater number can not even get along with the members of their own families, or get to know their neighbors, let alone achieve world peace and unity.

Am I saying this is good? NAY!

To walk the middle way of Anu, is to struggle to find temperance, moderation, balance, and above all else 'authenticity'. To see the many parts of self, even those aspects of our souls that are ugly and hidden, and too acknowledge and embrace it all as who I/you/we are.

We must come to realize, that there is a time and a season for every expression and working under the sun. There is a time to fight and a time to flee; a time to cry and a time to sing; a time to create and a time to break; a time to love and a time to hate. For all things there is a season and a proper place. The trick, is to learn to discern the appropriate response to any given situation.

To walk the middle road, is to seek wholeness and avoid extremes. To love and devote one's self to Anu, is all that Anu asks in return for the love and devotion of Anu. But Anu gives to mankind, the one and the many, the right and the power to determine our own visions and ideals of right and wrong. We create the laws and we fashion the societies that we live by and live within. Anu will love the children of Anu, God will favor God's own, but we are the masters of our own fates and destinies--just like the God who made us with freewill. It is we who must live with what we do, or do not do, and we who must live with ourselves and each other. We, as one and as many, determine the nature of our selves and our world.

It is the way of Anu, that his/it/her servants become the mediators and the advocates of moderation to the world.

As you judge, so you are judged. As you do unto others, so they shall do to you. As you believe, so shall it come to be. We are the masters of our own realities--now and eternally.

Bleeding Lance
by Brian Edward Rise

Bleeding Lance (The Spear of Destiny, the Holy Lance) - A sacred object, imbued with magic, in Grail ceremonies. Drops of blood issue from its point. When the Grail is Christianized, this weapon transforms into the Holy Lance, the spear that pierced the side of Christ by the hand of a Roman soldier named Longinus. The blood is that of the lamb and drips ad eternam into the Grail. From the Vulgate Cycle on the Lance is also the weapon that inflicted the Grail-keeper's wound even though it is often attributed with healing powers.

Said to grant it's bearer unlimited power, the Spear of Destiny was one of the holy objects sought by Hitler during WWII.

actually, Hitler obtained the spear, but it was stolen from him by an allied soldier and was given to Patton (supposedly)

Due to that last word, I didn't put patton in the post.

I heard Hitler also believed in roomers about a subterrainean world and sent expert teams to go find the entrance to the center of the earth. Can you dig that up Spawn.

Nazis and the Hollow Earth

Did Hitler's Nazis believe in a hollow Earth - and did they escape to the planet's interior after the war?
The Allies are closing in. Berlin is crumbling under the weight and impact of hundreds of Allied bombs. Deep in his fortified bunker, Adolf Hitler, once unshakable in his confidence in Nazi world domination, now admits that defeat is at hand. But Hitler is determined never to suffer the humiliation of being captured by his enemies. There is only one escape route - one he has planned for should he ever face just such a turn of events. Suicide is out of the question. Instead, Hitler and his corps of elite traverse through an underground tunnel to an isolated airstrip. There they board an unmarked plane and fly south. South to the pole. To the opening at the South Pole where they will enter the hollow Earth and disappear from history.

This alternate scenario to history is actually accepted as fact by some proponents of the hollow Earth theory. And as incredible as it sounds, the genesis of this story lies in some facts that carry some merit: some of Hitler's top advisors - perhaps even Hitler himself - believed that the Earth was hollow; and there was at least one expedition by the Nazi military to exploit that belief for strategic advantage during the war.

As with all such stories, it's often difficult to sort out facts, exaggerations, and outright fabrications. But it's an intriguing tale, and one that requires a little background.

Some believers in the hollow Earth theory hold that there are civilizations that live there, warmed and lit by an interior sun.

There are several hollow Earth theories. The most prevalent one holds that there are great but hidden openings at both the North and South poles, and that it is possible to enter those holes. Some - including the respected Admiral Byrd - claimed to have entered those holes. According to the legends, other civilizations live within the Earth on it's inner surface, warmed and lit by an interior sun. The idea has inspired novels by Edgar Allen Poe (MS Found in a Bottle), Edgar Rice Borroughs (At the Earth's Core), and Jules Verne (A Journey to the Center of the Earth).

A second theory, call the "inverted Earth" theory, claims that we - our civilization - actually exists on the inside of the globe. We are held fast to the ground not by gravity, but by centrifugal force as the Earth rotates. The stars, so goes the theory, are twinkling chunks of ice suspended high in the air, and the illusion of day and night is caused by a rotating central sun that is half brilliant, half dark. Cyrus Teed, an alchemist from Utica, N.Y., was one of the first people to popularize this idea. So obsessed was he with the idea that he founded a religion based on it, changed his name to Koresh, and established a commune for Koreshanity in Chicago in 1888. In Germany, independently of the Koreshans, another group also was founded that adhered to the inverted Earth idea, and it was this concept that was accepted by some segments of the Nazi hierarchy.

The scenario told at the beginning of this article accepts one hollow Earth theory, while the facts seem to show that some Nazis actually believed in the other.

Hitler's Nazis were convinced that they were destined to rule the world, and they came to this warped conclusion through the acceptance of many occult beliefs and practices, including astrology, the prophecies of Nostradamus, and the hollow/inverted Earth theory... hohlweltlehre. Because they suspected that our surface is on the interior of a concave Earth, Hitler sent an expedition, including Dr. Heinz Fischer and powerful telescopic cameras, to the Baltic island of Rugen to spy on the British fleet. Fischer did so not by aiming his cameras across the waters, but by pointing them up to peer across the atmosphere to the Atlantic Ocean. The expedition was a failure, of course. Fischer's cameras saw nothing but sky, and the British fleet remained safe.

Then there's the legend... that Hitler and many of his Nazi minions escaped Germany in the closing days of World War II and fled to Antarctica where at the South Pole they had discovered an entrance to the Earth's interior. According to the Hollow Earth Research Society in Ontario, Canada, they are still there. After the war, the organization claims, the Allies discovered that more than 2,000 scientists from Germany and Italy had vanished, along with almost a million people, to the land beyond the South Pole. This story gets more complicated with Nazi-designed UFOs, Nazi collaboration with the people who live in the center of the Earth, and the explanation for "Aryan-looking" UFO pilots.

While the evidence for either hollow Earth theory is close to nil (although some folks claim to have proof in the form of photos), the story involving Nazis, war, and the romance of exploratory adventure sounds like the makings of a great Indiana Jones story. In fact, it is! In the novel Indiana Jones and the Hollow Earth by Max McCoy, Indy comes into the possession of a mysterious journal hinting at the existence of an underground civilization that he and the Nazis race to find. The fate of the world - hollow or not - is in Indy's hands!

Lycanthropy...What is it?

Lycanthropy from Greek lykoi, "wolf" anthropos, "man", a psychiatric state in which the patient believes he is a wolf or some other nonhuman animal. Undoubtedly stimulated by the once widespread superstition that lycanthropy is a supernatural condition in which men actually assume the physical form of other animals, the delusion has been most likely to occur among people who believe in reincarnation and the transmigration of souls.

Rarely does this condition surface. Examples of lycanthropy are only now being linked to schizophrenia - having very few cases to study in our present institutions makes this disease difficult to study in-depth.

Usually, a person is deemed to take the form of the most dangerous beast of prey of the region: the wolf or bear in Europe and northern Asia, the hyena or leopard in Africa, and the tiger in India, China, Japan, and elsewhere in Asia; but other animals are mentioned too. Both the superstition and the psychiatric disorder are linked to the belief in animal guardian spirits, vampires, totemism, witches, and werewolves. The folklore, fairy tales, and legends of many nations and peoples show evidence of lycanthropic belief.

Stories of men turning into beasts go back to antiquity. In parts of ancient Greece, werewolf myths, stemming from prehistoric times (based on new evidence), became linked with the Olympian religion. In Arcadia, a region plagued by wolves, there was a cult of the Wolf-Zeus. Mt. Lycaeus was the scene of a yearly gathering at which the priests were said to prepare a sacrificial feast that included meat mixed with human parts. According to legend, whoever tasted it became a wolf and could not turn into a man unless he abstained from human flesh for nine years.

The Romans also knew this superstition. Anyone who was supposed to have been turned into a wolf by means of magic spells or herbs was called versipellis "turnskin" by the Romans.

Stories about the werewolf were widely believed in Europe during the Middle Ages. Outlaws and bandits played on these superstitions by sometimes wearing wolfskins over their armour. At that time people were unusually prone to develop the delusion that they themselves were wolves; suspected lycanthropists were burned alive if convicted. Only rarely was their condition recognized as a psychological disturbance. Although the superstition is no longer common, traces still linger in some primitive and isolated areas.

The term werewolf isn't like the "classic" Hollywood-style ravenous beast stuff. The term lycanthropy as is used here can be found in some medical psychological books as being a disorder, a certain animal like behaveour as a result of an advanced psychosis. This is also not the way i like to use the term werewolf in relation to me. The way i use the term, is as in spiritual therianthropy.

Right, you are now probably a bit dazzled by the terms used by me here, so let me give a short description of them (borrowed from the AHWW FAQ):

Lycanthrope \'li-ken-throp\ n (NL lycanthropus, fr. GK lykanthropos werewolf, fr. lykos wolf + anthropos man) 1: a person displaying lycanthropy 2:a werewolf

Lycanthropy \'li-kan(t)-thra-pe\ n 1: a delusion that one has become a wolf. 2: the assumption of the form and characteristics of a wolf held to be possible by witchcraft or magic - lycanthropic adj.

Theriomorphic \'thir-e-o-'mor-fik\ adj (GK theriomorphos, fr. therion beast + morphe form - more at treacle): having an animal form <~gods>

Mind you, these were taken from some dictionary, and provide a general discription of the terms, not an exact one. Read on to get a better understanding of what is meant.

A Theriomorph is a shapeshifter; a being who can assume an animal as well as a human form. A spiritual theriomorph is someone who at least sees aspects of animals in his or her personality and actions, and those aspects shape who he or she is. More so in the meaning of a spiritual shapeshifter, being able to assume animal as wel as human form in spirit (or a mix of the two). I feel an animal spirit that is an integral part of my being, affecting how i interact with others, what i do, where i go... and in that sense, i am a shapeshifter. I exist mentally and in spirit as both wolf and human (but not seperate, i am one person, one character, one being). When i shift, mentally, the outside world usually notices it... the change in thought produces a change in demeanor that's readily recognizable. Even without a shift though, there are several facets in my mind that are pure wolf thinking, and make me definately different than people around me.

Shifting itself is something that's almost impossible to explain to someone who isn't a shifter himself, but i'll try to give you some idea what this is about. My being is truly integrated, both human and wolf co-operating to do what i have to do, to say what i want to say, to live my life, trying to find one that best suits me as being part human, part non-human. Some other therianthropes feel this differently, have made a clear seperation between their human and animal forms, but for me, this is the way it is. Most of the time, to be able to go on mostly unnoticed, i have to let the main "line" of my life being led by my human side, to adapt to human civilisation, to "blend in" so to say. When shifting, i let the wolf side take more control, let the animal control my actions and thoughts more. Shifting can be triggered either by will, or (and it's a great advantage then) when the situation i'm in get's really dangerous, or life-threatening even, and the wolf gets me in a state of heightened awareness, being able to cope with whatever will come my way at that moment. Then, although my human side is still there, my thinking has gone almost purely predatorial.
