Okay, so apparently, within the next 10 hours they will unveil the new seven wonders of the world, which is being determined by global public voting. Of the original seven, only the Egyptian Pyramids will retain their status. Everything else is new. So if you had to choose, which of these incredible landmarks do you feel is most deserving of the distinction? Which have really made an impact on human history?

These are some of the front runners:

So just cause the other 6 aren't around anymore, they have to come up with new ones?

Didn't they have 7 Wonders of the New World or something?

The Colosseum and Acropolis. Out of interest what are the original seven, I forgot?!

Colosseum, and the great wall.

So they're redoing it but they have to have seven. There can't be eight wonders or dare I say nine? That's stupid.

Yes, about 2,200 years ago the Original Seven were selected. But as you mentioned, the vast majority have fallen.

The great wall without a doubt.
Built, rebuilt, and maintained between the 5th century BC and the 16th century.
The Great Wall is the world's longest human-made structure, stretching over approximately 6,400 km (4,000 miles). Now that is AWESOME human manpower.

Yeah it is. Without this inexplicable limitation bs, we wouldn't need to pick. Have strict criteria and limitations, and don't make everything a wonder of the world, but don't limit it just because of the term, which I assume they're keeping just for tradition's sake.

By the way, this is also being considered for election:

I'll update the poll accordingly.

I would love to have seen the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

the vast majority have fallen.

There is a suspect in the disappearance of this wonder:

Wanted for questioning. Suspect armed and extremely dangerous.

That shouldn't be there. It's a building that hasn't fallen over DESPITE the f**k-ups of the people who built it. :down

These are my New 7:

1.) The Statue Of Liberty
2.) The Leaning Tower Of Piz
3.) The Roman Colosseum
4.) The Great Wall Of China
5.) Stonehenge
6.) Statues of Easter Island (these are just too creepy NOT to be considered such)
7.) The Eiffel Tower

I think the above landmarks have impacted World history the most. In fact, these particular ones are so renouned that they are the first things to be destroyed in sci-fi/disaster movies like Planet Of The Apes, Armageddon, Independence Day, etc...I mean, think about it: how many times have we seen the Statue Of Liberty's head bouncing across the movie screen?? LOL :p

I bet that happens alot in foreign movies! :whatever:

Even though I know modern things for some reason don't count here, that giant damn in china is pretty freaking impressive.

Persepolis was an entire emperial city

like this some of the buildings were bigger then the temple of Athena. The jewels and stuff have been scrapped of though

If lady liberty is voted for it's only because people marvel at her flat chest and man face :o

Stonehenge. Egyptians, Romans, Greek, Mayans and Aztecs were productive civilizations and we built Stonehenge.

Stonehenge would be a nice 'Wonder' despite never actually visiting it.

I think it's obvious that Lady Liberty will become one.

The Acropolis, too.

Considering how far your people were back in 3200 BC, it's still impressive.
