Well...apparently I almost died. :(

I just got back from the hospital yesterday. I woke up Friday morning unable to move my major muscle groups in my arms and legs. I was rushed to the hospital, and what they found was that my potassium was the lowest they had ever seen. To top it off I had an irregular heartbeat. It turns out that I have hyperthyroid. I was in the midst of a thyroid storm, and the hormones caused my potassium to bottom out. The lack of potassium caused my irregular heartbeat. Only problem was once they got those things normal, my heart rate shot up to 130-160. I was lucky I didn't have a heart attack. Now I'm on beta blockers to keep my heart rate down as well as thyroid medication. This ordeal has been one hell of a wake up call. All I wanted to do while I was in the hospital was spend as much time with my fiancee as possible. Anyway, I felt the need to share my experience with all of you.

I'm on beta blockers too. My heart beat went 300 beats per min. Scary **** when it's going fast! Glad your ok man!

I'm glad you made through that close call. guitarsingerguy

Damn. That makes my heartbeat seem tame by comparison. What exact drug do they have you on? My first didn't work too well, but I like what they've changed me over to.

Thyroids are powerful little bastards. I had an overactive thyroid which caused me to lose weight too fast, leading to gallstones, leading to having to get my gallbladder taken out. I'm also tachycardic.

Down with the thyroid! :cmad:

I'm sorry to hear of what had happened to you. I am glad you didn't get a heart attack. Please take good care of yourself. I haven't heard from you for so long I was beginning to feel worried. Hope everything else is going well in your life.

:csad: Wow, close call... glad you made it through... Did your doctor recommend any lifestyle changes?

Cardicor 1.25. Are you on yours for life?

I'm on a generic form of Inderal. I don't think I'll be on mine for life. I went to my GP today, and apparently this whole thing stems from an immune disorder. I'll know more after seeing my endocrinologist. I can't thank everyone enough for the support. I really appreciate it.

Hope you get off it sometime soon:up: It's a pain in the ass trying to remember to take it everyday:cmad:

I'm glad you're okay, but if you do bite it, I got dibs on your stuff! :cmad:

Seriously, though. Glad that you're safe.

Wow. That seriously sucks. I know how that feels. My appendix went last week, and I was in absolute freaking agony.

To cheer you up:

That cheered me up and I didn't even have a near death experience.

Glad you're ok! Stay healthy
