I got told this by a potential employer this week. I wasn't certain what that really meant. Now, I feel that it was the nice way of saying "We don't want you". Anyone else ever heard this? It was brand new to me.

Were you headed to the bathroom and was she female?

Sounds like something you say to dump your girlfriend/boyfriend.

"We're not singing from the same hymn sheet"

They were being diplomatic.

It's a nice way of saying, "You don't have what it takes to get us where we need to be."

Or when a girl says "Not even for $500.00".

To summarise - you won't be getting a second interview.

But thanks for coming.

Actually, they didn't even say that.

It's corporate speak for "Oh, you wanted a job!? BWAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAA!"

jag

yeah - i thought that was pretty straight forward employer talk? aka "we don't want you". sorry.

500 is usually only a first offer though.....there's always room for further negotiation.....what was the topic again?

They were coming on to you. You should have hit it.

So evily cruel, the world at hand.

"Your direction is not our direction." Find a new direction.

I suppose the context in which it was used may tell us something different.

Can you type the section of dialogue it was used in...?

Was it "we're going in a different direction, now please take your knee off my throat"?

Indeed. I've decapitated many a consultant for using such phrases.
