Well technicaly you could make your character any ethinicity you want, as long as it doesn't cause an imediate conflict with their baser origins, such as Colosuss is a Russian and making him chinese would be a little ridiculous.

Aswell if you played Avalanche he wouldn't have to start as a villain.

It just feels like if I'd pick up Avalanche and have him be the school bully, then turn into a villain, I'd be going the exact same route as X-Men: Evolution. So I went with Rictor for a more original character, so to speak.
