What are you buying?Comics for October 18th

Buy better books. :o
Why stop buying it simply because it's a bi-monthly?

Because, it's simply ridiculous that this one member of DC's "Big Three" has just one title and it's coming out every two months. It sure can't be about quality, because 52 is one of DC's best books, and it's coming out weekly. Wonder Woman is a comic that has to come out monthly, or else the general public is simply going to pass on it. I don't want to have to go back every two months and try to remember what happened in a book I really don't feel the urgent need to buy anyway.

The reason why WW can't be a monthly is pretty well known. Allen Heinberg is writing it, and he, unlike most other comic writers, is already quite busy working on his TV properties.

While I didn't follow the comic, I'm quite sure Young Avengers suffered the same type of delays, but that title still florished despite its lateness. Why? Because it was a damn good book. Just like WW is a damn good book.

But, Young Avengers built it's audience before it started becoming very late. With Wonder Woman, you have a title that has consistently struggled at times, that has enough difficulty already amassing an audience because it's a female heroine book, and is kind of a dated notion.

Wonder Woman had everything going for it. It was coming off the popularity of Infinite Crisis, it had her in the amazing "Justice League Of America," and DC was finally getting the comic buying public's attention. But, you have to grab that consumer quickly and keep their attention. That's what Marvel is doing with Heroes For Hire, a book that would have struggled if not for the key Civil War tie-in.

Anyway, for me, I represent the comic buyer who is willing to give a new comic a try...but, I don't want to wait for another DC comic that is suppose to come out every two months. I'm already picking up Justice, All-Star Superman, and All-Star Batman and Robin....and, even those last two cannot seem to come out with a two-month time schedule!

I'm actually asking, if anyone knows the answer.

If it's anything like the Anita Blake novels I'd say...probably not. The first one may not have any of the graphic sex that later came into the series but it was VERY dark and some pretty nasty violence too.

So you're dropping it because you don't agree with the business and money-making decisions of a company you're nowhere near connected to? Seems pretty pointless to me.

But yeah, yeah, I know. You don't like waiting 2 months for a comic in general. Fine with me. Personally, the near-sole thing I care about is quality. And, IMO, WW certainly provides that. It being a bi-monthly just means it's 3 less bucks I have to spend every other month.

All im saying is that once hes done with these 3 issues, Heinberg better get his ass into gear and write up at least 12 more issues of Young Avengers.

No where near connected to? I've been a Marvel and DC comic reader since the 1970's, I spend anywhere from 70-130 dollars a week on a variety of comics; so, I think I'm pretty connected to the "business and money-making decisions of a company." In fact, it's the average comic fan who is probably the most important factor in deciding the fate of any comic. It's our support for their decisions that is a key factor in what the big two do.

DC acknowledges constantly that they have "the Big Three:" Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Yet, from their approach, it's really more of a big two, and Wonder Woman is the third wheel. How many books does Superman and Batman put out monthly? Then, add into how many spin-offs come from those books, like Catwoman, Nightwing, or Robin? THEN, add in all the specials tied to those two characters, like Batman and the Monster Men or Superman: Red Son. THEN, add into the fact that many of the team books center around a member of those big two, like with Robin and Nightwing in Outsiders or Teen Titans. AFTER ALL THAT, look at Wonder Woman.

Six issues in one year....if you're lucky.

Thanks. I might page through it in the store, or see if it has some kind of "MAX" style label on it. Are the novels any good (asking for myself now)?

The series was actually good for about six or seven books up through the Killing Dance and then I feel it began to go downhill and turn into nothing but supernatural based porn. But yeah, the first one especially Guilty Pleasures is a dream. A combination of romance, mystery, horror, and humor and quite groundbreaking. My other favorites are Circus of the Damned, the Lunatic Cafe, and Bloody Bones. My least favorite part of the earlier books was Richard Zeeman...yuck.

Hmmm, well I won't be buying any of them. But I'll certainly be reading them.

MWUHUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :ninja:
