Maybe you should except people have to go forward, Marvel is going forward why should DC backtrack? Batman should not have daughter, Diana Prince is worse then the glasses thing with Clark Kent. Barry allen is gone, accept it. Supergirl is a gimmick character as well was superboy. Marvel comics gave superheros problems and huamn feelings in the 60s, they did so buy realizing things must change. People[and things] never progress if they keep harking back for a time long long gone. I grew up after post crisis, and yet i respect the silver-age things to a degree. But i look at the stuff back then, and realize why things had to change.
has it ever occurred to your highness that there is nothing wrong with looking back to your roots, hmmm? specially in the attempt to be so modern you forget who you were to begin with? applies for human beings, and very well applies to the comic book franchises, since essentially you're dealing with make believe people. suddenly to look back on the rich history that has made it so enduring in the first place is CRIMINAL. i ask you, why do you see it that way? what is so abhorently disgusting about the pre-crisis that you cant stand it being mixed with the elements of post-crisis in the attempt to "move forward"? is it because it will invalidate a good deal of your precious post-crisis? well, boohoo. now you feel what pre-crisis followers went through.
you want to talk gimmicky? three words for you: Death of Superman. the most successful gimmick of all time, even got the national press to weigh in on it.
and the rest of what you said.... geezus. i'm not gonna start with that. i dont want to go waste the rest of my time proving why what you said is heresy to any superhero fan.
No one wears bell bottoms anymore [i hope]. If people brought back "classic" elemets all the time, we would be a in world where black people can't go to th same schools as white people[as were the norm in the silver-age days].
you see, its post like these that reflects the sad state of comic book fandom. what the hell is wrong with you, pulling a race card? you think pre-crisis followers like the old comics because of backward sentiments like that? you obviously dont know much about pre-crisis other than what you see when you browse through an archive.
that's part of the problem of the fandom-- everybody takes things so goddamn seriously. whatever happened to the days where you pick up a comic book and have fun, have some good laughs, let your imagination soar and forget about the real world for a while?
my post was a response to Retconned's questions on what i'd like to bring back. i answered him honestly, the things that bothered me most. you dont like 'em, you didnt have to read them.
