It can be anything from the listed items in the title to old Tv shows.

BOOKS
1984 now.

The Foundation. Actually is being written write now for possible trilogy.

The Once and Future King.

Survivor by Chuck Palaniuk- not sure how audiences would take it...

Videogames
Halo - Mostly bc the fanbase and budget would be gigantic.

Gears of War - Script is written and Len Wiseman to direct but same as above.

Comics

The Dark Knight Returns - Mostly bc it would be a finale and has sooo many villains and includes Sups battling Bats and if wrong in any way it would severly disappoint.

Watchmen- The buzz is good but the pressure for this to be great is immense.

The Catcher in the Rye

One of my favourite books, but it'd be hard to think of a single scene that would hold any weight on film. It could be done, but it would fail, fall, die trying.

Comics
Sandman
Preacher
Y: The Last Man
The Walking Dead
Arkham Asylum

Games
Metal Gear Solid
Halo
Resistance
World of Warcraft
Killer7 (this would make less sense than Eraserhead)
Condemned

Anthem...mainly because I think I wouldn't be able to get the same feeling as from the book.

I know they're doing Ender's Game, but that thing is honestly a pedophile's wet dream. It's a good book, but it's basically Lord of the Flies with even younger kids.

Games... Katamari Damacy. Starring Will Smith?

That and every Philip K Dick story adapted to film (even the really good ones) avoid his bizarre non-sequitur story endings... It doesn't help that his stories generally read like dreams, and always fall into psychadelic ramblings in the third act.

Just about anything by Kurt Vonnegut. I'm really worried about the upcoming Slaughterhouse 5 movie.

Books:

Death Dealer
The Silmarillion
The Vampire Lestat(Done the right way. Not the piece of trash that was QOTDINO.)
The Once and Future King
Deception Point
Ninja
Dante's Inferno
Gilgamesh
The Odyssey
The Illiad(I don't count Troy at all.)

Video Games:

Metal Gear Solid
Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past
The Darkness
Castlevania

Comics:

Preacher
Arkham Asylum
Spawn

American Tabloid and The Cold Six Thousand by James Ellroy could make for fantastic movies, too bad they are impossible to adapt.

Tetris is the hardest form of other media to adapt into a movie. End of thread.

What'd you think of Choke?
I'm not sure it worked very well....

I liked Choke. It was one of the books I was more surprised that was adapted but Sam Rockwell was good but I expected more from Denny's character...i don't know. It was a 12 million dollar budget and was pretty good.

Not to make this into a 'Choke' thread, but I didn't see it (but I will on DVD). However, judging from the trailers, it looked really awkward. Not funny awkward (Wes Anderson, The Office) but the kinda awkward where the director didn't know how the shoot the movie properly.

"Weapon X", yeah agreed about Sam Rockwell, I've always liked him as an actor and i thought he was really good in this. Angelica Houston was great too.

for me, the film straddled a fine line between a Judd Aptow movie and nihilist drama, which fits in with what Octoberist said about it looking awkward.

I agree it was pretty good (definately NOT a bad film by any means), but I just can't work out how I feel about it. Oh well... back to the actual topic i guess.

Does anyone remember Freedom Fighters for PS2 and Xbox? It was about Russians invading America and taking over. You have to lead the resistance against the Russian army by raiding post offices, schools, etc (all of which are now Russian bases).

And, get this, the final battle takes place on the frozen water surrounding the Statue of Liberty.

Great game and I've always said it should be made into a movie.

I LOVED that game.

Really loved it. :ikyn

Perfect! You're the first person I've talked to in a while that remembers that game.

A Freedom Fighters movie would be like today's Red Dawn. Russians vs. Americans in the streets of Manhattan. Yea...good ****.

Katamari Damacy.

Hey Mladen and Octoberist, I didn't think Choke was one of his better books but definitely had interesting characters to follow. Victor and Denny were pretty interesting in their everyday life. My expectations weren't too high to be let down anyways.

Joker nailed it with Tetris and I heard some company wanted a Pac-Man movie to make. Also, imagine a Kirby movie. There would be more hummer jokes than any movie ever.

Back to the idea...another risky adaption would be FALLOUT but I would love to see it.

Freedom Fighters was great, the squad based gameplay was good, funny the main character was just a plumber and by the end of the game he was a hero. I have the pc version.

Sounds familiar...does he take mushrooms and fight goombas?

No, I remember that game too. It was okay. Cool concept.
