What Brought You to the Hype and What Keeps You Here?

I first found the Hype, and began lurking, when Spider-Man 3 announced the symbiote suit involvement. Great movie, I don't care what anyone says. I was a huge Spidey fan back in the day. (I saw Spider-Man 2 37 times in the theater.)

10 years later I finally joined to discuss my most anticipated movie of the year... Logan.

I started lurking after TDK's first full-length trailer dropped, then eventually joined. I stay because I like the people here.

Okay, so I started lurking in 2008 after a high school friend showed me the website for superhero movie news around the time Iron Man came out. I found the forums and joined in March of 09.... for Green Lantern news.

What keeps me here? Oh, is that a loaded a question, . I don't really. After a string of these, including a wrongful banning, I kinda just just pop in and out every now and then.

In all seriousness, I don't remember why I came here the first time; it was likely looking for information on Spider Man 2, based on when I started my account.

I stay because this is one of the few places where you can discuss pro wrestling, the Avengers, the flailing DC Universe, LGBT issues and Sawyer's Hawaiian pizzas all in one place.

Superhero movies brought me here but I stay for geek news, geek humor, politics, sports, games, general movies, tv shows, and of course more superhero movies.

Basically I enjoy getting opinions on various topics but from other geeks. And being here during the golden age of superhero movies is too much fun.

Plus I like the layout. Just seeing it floods the pleasure centure of my abnormal brain.

Honestly, I was bored and looking for a place that combined all the things I loved, Avengers, Star Wars and stuff like that.

I'm hopeful this place is going to be fun. I see a books and music forum, hopefully things get lively.

You forgot to mention that you get to talk about your male strip club called "Sawyer doesn't live here anymore".

For me, I was just getting over a terrible, terrible hangover as a result of watching $#!tFormers: Age of SuckSTinkTion and TASM2. The cure ended up being going to see GotG. Plus, I was intensely curious about Marvel's upcoming slate of Phase 3 movies. From there, I wanted to see who was going to be cast as Captain Marvel. Some of the political threads interest me (though I've recently been suffering through another hangover that's likely to last until at least 2018).

I keep coming back because there are some very weird people who say some very odd things (see quote above).

EDIT: Anyone who puts pineapple on pizza deserves to be banished for life to, I don't know, maybe Sawyer's house or purgatory or some place like that.

I can remember how nutz people were about Ben Grimm's Brow and over all look in the FF boards when I was first posting regularly. It was probably the one thing that got me on the boards full time.
It was like people never knew Ben looked like a walking Baby ruth bar originally lol

Why did I join?
Took a break from Comic Book Resource, and my first impulse was to join another message board, namely here.


I'm still here cause I have fun interacting with the populace of the site. Comics, community, movies, Spider-Man boards, MCU's Netflix divisions, and DC entertainment sections are my favorite gathering places.

The moments when someone melts down on me -or when I'm the one melting down- are shockers at first, hilariously entertaining when I look back on them, some of them are hilarious at the whim of the moment.

I'd been 'hovering' for years as a guest, literally years (upwards of a decade) but never signed up. Would read and gage all the news etc. I was on the Empire Magazine forum at the time until it imploded in self congratulatory rage f-uppery and I took the 'leap' to here as such.

Really like the style, approach and debate of SHH, informed, casual, not too much judgement, fun aesthetic and no one takes themselves too seriously.

Opinion or thought is deemed valid and bar the occasional playground 'pile on', it's really respectful.
