What Brought You to the Hype and What Keeps You Here?

Just looking for a forum that had something I was interested in. There are some really toxic forums out there and a whole lot of inactive ones.

This place is a little too restricted at times but better than the alternative of the awful ones where there is no moderation and most of the time people actually stay somewhat relevant to the topic.

Teellie you SOB, how you been? Feels like forever since I've seen ya.

I've been here. Just maybe not quite as active in some areas.

I came here in 2004. This is actually my second account, my first was locked for some reason... Dew couldn't figure out what was going on, so she said I had to make a new account.

I came here because it was a great place to talk about comics and movies. But it seems like less people are here to talk about comics, but that is the reason I come here. Though I mostly just lurk.

The hype today isn't much like the one I originally was introduced to. I feel like there is to many sub forums, but the mods really crack down on nonsense a lot quicker, which makes a safer, cleaner place.

I lurked this site on and off ever since the release of Batman v Superman.
I thought I'd finally just join after almost a year. With all of the films to be released this
year, it'd be cool to stick around and join in all the fun.

It's such a great time to be a fan of the comic book genre. I guess that, alone, is
what will keep me here.

I just joined up here after finding out the IMDB boards are getting shut down. I'm not a troll (that I know of :thf:). I'll probably mostly lurk around to pick up info to fill in knowledge gaps and I will contribute when I feel like I have something relevant to say.
I like Marvel and DC and I hope that the former keeps up it's run of quality material and that the latter can come around and improve on its struggles.

You're definitely not a troll, as that is the most charitable description of the DCU I've ever seen. :o

Welcome to the Avengers the Fantastic Four Force Works the Hype! I hope you survive the experience!

I reckon there will be a good few who will be on the Hype till death!

I've been lurking around here since 2002 when the first Spider-Man movie came out. Seems I'll be spending all my superhero discussion time here because of IMDb forums going away.

Not a troll either , usually 😜.

Looks like this thread will suffice as the place to welcome new members.

As the amazing Peter Selleck Ted Danson Steve Guttenberg person greeted
Welcome to the Avengers the Fantastic Four Force Works the Hype! I hope you survive the experience!

I started visiting the site when it was Spider-Man Hype as it was my primary source for Spidey news, became a pretty serious lurker on the boards during the Spider-Man 2 mania and didn't register and start posting 'til a few years later...mainly due to my uncontainable excitement for TDK and the need to actually talk to people about it, lol. Became a mod just over 2 years ago. I stick around just because it became my internet home and the only message board I really post on, and I've grown fond of a great many posters I've gotten to know here over the years.

Man of Steel. I was on here a lot and posting every minute my first couple of years here. Now I don't really post anymore. I'll hop on the website to lurk every once in a while.

The main reason I'm still here is the special bond Reek and I have. It's the gift that keeps on giving really. A roller coaster of emotion and the closest thing I'll ever have to an actual brother.

That 20 to 1, female to male ratio.

i've always appreciated your honesty lol
for some reason, your answer reminded me of Ronny Shade and I can't for the life of me figure out why

been lurking here since 2004.
Have seen the development of a LOT of movies, starting with spider-man 2, batman begins, fantastic four, x-men 3, superman returns, all the way to the MCU and the DCU.
I can still access my old private messages (unlike my MySpace account) and it brings me tears of joy seeing people send me the first unofficial look at kelsey grammer as beast scanned from a European magazine or a sneaky description of the Dark Knight prologue.
With twitter and all that business taking over I don't want the hype to go away, it's overused, but it is nostalgic, and it's one of the few things left from my formative end of high school - college- post college years. without this it's just adulthood (boring and sad).

I joined when they announced the Ghost Rider movie. I was here a lot but my kids have grown up and I was on other boards and I just don't have the time I used to. I left message boards mostly but occasionally pop back here to see what's up. Also I wrote a book so that has and will take up a lot of my time.

congrats on the book CR

Thanks. It is the first of a trilogy. I have learned a lot through the process and the 2nd and 3rd books hopefully won't take so long to publish.

I miss the old days when I was here more consistently - there were nice people and lots of interesting conversations.

Just no time. Be well and peace to you CC.

Ronny Shade wished he was me.

I came to over hype Spider-man 3.

Then it was just down hill after that... Besides The Dark Knight.. Good times there.

I used to be a regular poster on another, smaller forum. Because it was so small, there wasn't a lot of diversity in discussion. Entire days would go by without new posts. I joined the Hype out of boredom. Getting into it with one of the mods on the site months later encouraged me to post here more frequently. I continue to post because the Hype is, for the most part, a fun place to be.

just to keep dialogue going:

What areas of the Hype do you frequent?

i'm mostly the Community Forums, but i delve into the Game of Thrones and Lucifer boards and occasionally Products. I plan to delve back into the X boards one day and I've bookmarked Star Wars for when i finally see the films lol
