The Amazing Spider-Man 2 What Did You Not Like?(Spoilers!!!)

So if I'm understanding Webb's recent interview correctly, all the stuff with Electro got shoved in to make it less obvious they were going to kill Gwen Stacy?

Seriously?

Dehaan, Dehaan, Dehaan.

He was the biggest flaw of the movie IMO. I feel his performance just wasn't that good, he didn't do anything except act shady for nearly the whole movie. The only time where he didn't seem shady was when he was desperately asking for Electro's help, I liked that.

I feel that if they changed Harry completely by saving his transformation for the sequel & by making him a bit more happy in this film, the movie could have been so much better. If they did this then they could have expanded on Electro & give him some motivations.

CA:TFA was decent (7/10), TIH was okay (6.7/10), T:TDW was okay (6.7/10), IM2 was meh (6.5/10), Thor was mediocre (6/10) and Avengers was awful (4/10). At least that's how I feel about them, of course.

"We were very careful to adhere to that. I think in this movie, we reverse engineered everything from that event. We knew that the Goblin had to do it, but who the Goblin was, I think we had some leeway because there was a precedent in the comics that Harry actually did turn into the Goblin, but we wanted to kind of withhold that. We knew if we just made him the only villain, the cat would've been out of the bag."

Seriously?

I don't think it's the only reason they have Electro in the film. In other interviews Webb mentioned that he wanted Spider-Man to have an adversary who had powers greater than his, and Electro is God-like in his powers. That and visually remarkable, something like that.

I didn't like the drawn out boring scenes, Peter barely giving a crap about Uncle Ben, where did Electro get his costume from (didn't bother me really but it's lol), the short amount of Goblin time (loved him overall though). Need to tighten things up and vastly improve part 3.

There is a very quick scene of a worker at Ravencroft walking down a hallway wearing a costume similar to the one Electro wears (minus the metal collar), maybe he took it off of one of them. But yeah, it's never explained.

I didn't like when right after the serious scene when Harry begs Peter to help save his life by helping him get Spider-Man's blood, Peter is joking with Gwen in the closet and spilling coffee on and tying shoelaces together of the villain and clicking his heels in the hallway. I also don't know how he webbed the coffee cup into his hand without spilling any.

The thing I hated though was the X-Men post-credit scene. I can't stand that it's there.

WOW!

I must ask what did you rate the movie out of 10?

Sure. But do those powers have much effect on Spider-Man? Nope. Even at the end of the film when he's being pummelled with electricity, he still comes out pretty OKAY.

At least with the first film, they got that aspect right.

And I have to say not only was the Kafka portion horrible, but the editing as well. What was up with those close-up reaction shots of him? That scene was edited like a student film.

First off I liked the movie and feel it's quite under-rated, however the thing that bugged me was Norman Osborn.

He seemed like just something to get Harry's plot movie and was a waste of Chris Cooper. He'll probably be back but it's a poor way to introduce him.

I don't feel that way about Rhino as he had more to do and was lots of goofy and fun like he's supposed to be.

Imo they should've had Norman in the Harry Prison cell scene instead of The Gentleman.

Norman: You disappoint me, Son.
Harry: I should've known you would pull something like this. (Faking his death)

Agreed. So overrated. Basically I felt ASM2 was close to Avengers, but had more drama and emotion.

Odd thing is one is trashed for being comic booky and the other is lauded for being comic booky, one is trashed for having a corny Villain without motivation and the other is beloved for having a corny Villain without motivation

I've also read people say that the
birth of Electro is corny.
Nobody complained when they did pretty much THE SAME THING in The Spectacular Spider-Man.

well, in this one it was
really corny because of Jamie Foxx's delivery in the scene, especially the way he acts the "being electrocuted" part, it almost looks like one of those "acting like he's getting electrocuted as a joke" gags. Which even further emphasizes his already cartoony over the top design, not to mention the birthday song where he stretches the part with his name like "MaaaAaaAaaAAaaAaAx", which really pulled attention to the dumb gap in his teeth

weirdly enough I loved the movie, but the little annoying things like what I just said have no right to be in the movie imo but since everything else is so damn good you can kinda tolerate and ignore it

After hearing how bad Kafka was, I expected something much worse. He wasn't the best, but it was tolerable.

I actually didn't like the Rhino. I understand his purpose in the movie to be just some goon who Spider Man gets to pick on (similar to the Spectacular cartoon), but I thought the performance was just a little over the top. He was at a 10/10 and he could have toned it down to about an 8

Cat out of the bag? So what? You're going to screw the whole movie over into a jumbled mess just to TRY to keep the climactic twist (that everyone and their mothers saw coming in the first place) a secret? The revelation that the GG was in the film in the first place kinda let the cat out of the bag, didn't it? Also the fact that the "surprise twist" was spoiled two months before the films release...

So now that the cat IS out of the bag, can we ask the question: Was it really worth it? I'd say no. The "surprise" is revealed and the movie is still of overall poor quality. I think I've been giving these guys too much credit here...

It seems like they rushed the entrance of Goblin into the movie. Their fight was not that long at all, which made it seem even more rushed.

I also did not like Felicia. Unless they are going to try to tie her into being Black Cat, which I don't think they will do. Things just seemed a little bit scattered in this one compared to the first.

 There was no good purpose in having Electro in this movie.

Lol I loved when he was singing the Bday song to himself!! Foxx has the voice lol

A lot of those were facetious and redundant----I am actually a fan of the reboot, but I thought they made just so many needless---easily fixable errors that it annoyed the heck out of me.

I give it a 6 of 10 and my list of things I liked about the movie would be just as long.

When a movie with potential falls from the "very good" or "Great" category---I begin to dwell on all the little things I wouldn't if overall the story was a hit in my mind.

So much of that list could have been fixed in post production/editing that it's infuriating they didn't.

regardless, Harry Goblin as the only villain would've been a bad call anyway
