Just like the title says. I'd like to hear what you guys didn't particularly love about the pilot episode. Personally I really enjoyed it, I'd just like to hear some common issues that people have.

-Humour sucked
-Forced references to every part of every Marvel movie ever
-Maria Hill's only purpose was to provide exposition
-For all the hype about the effects and production values, the opening action sequence was awful. The climax was pretty good though
-Forgettable casting

And probably some other stuff I can't think of right now. IMO J. August Richards was the best part

The humor needed considerable improvement. I expect and love the humor in the Marvel Studios films; however, some of the jokes in the pilot made me cringe, and also took away valuable time that could have been used to shade the characters.

My main complaint is with the writing. Some of the lines were absolutely terrible and over the top cheesy. I mean I love some cheese, but I don't like to cringe when I hear a line. Like when peters says " no, it's an origin story." That was awful. Lol. Some of the lines just fell really flat. Whether that's the fault of the script or the actors I really don't know.

The obvious reference to Coulson not being exactly Coulson sticks out to me. He died but he's now either a clone, a robot/android/mechanical something or he was brought back via magic means and he "cannot ever know."

The exposition was clunky and rushed, a point I also made in the pilot thread how this could have been resolved with a 2 hour opener instead of a 1 hour rush job.

I don't like that mutants are now referred to as "gifted" although I understand the reasoning behind this is because of licensing issues due to Fox.

They brought in too many people at once to keep track of. It goes back to the rushed feeling of a one hour pilot. There was no time to know much of anything about anyone besides Coulson who we saw in The Avengers and Maria Hill who is only a cameo at this point (though with HIMYM ending this season it opens Cobie's schedule toward the end of the season for SHIELD).

The quirky humor that Joss Whedon seems to overdo in everything he does lately.

Am I the only one that didn't like the flying car?

So dumb.

I feel like "gifted" is more of a general term for superhero
I think the pilot seemed rushed but hopefully the other episodes dont

There weren't any mutants in the pilot.

Skye. I wouldn't find her as annoying her if she were in a smaller role like F/S, but she doesn't work for me as a lead. It's Dollhouse's Echo all over again.

I loved it. It was/is a reference to Nick Fury's car (not sure if it still is Fury's car or not) in the comics.

I didn't like the really, cringeworthy bad humor. Not many jokes worked. Nor did I like any of the characters except for Coulson and that is just because I'm a fan of Clark Gregg because of New Adventures of Old Christine

Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye.

I loved it. Only complaints:
- wasn't long enough. Have episode 2 here NOW!
- no Nick Fury, even a fifteen second cameo would have been nice.
- no Stan Lee, seriously? When Stan "the man" Lee appears it's gotta be big!

Casting. From the first time that I saw the cast photo of this show, I knew they wouldn't be great as the principal cast. Something is just missing from them.

And the humour and some cheesy dialogues.

This has always been a problem with Whedon. The jackass doesn't know when to let up with the corny dialogue. Even when he was hired to write an Alien film, he still somehow ended up turning that into a comedy.

Calling Whedon a jackass? Really?

What didn't I like?

EVERYTHING.

I'm currently loving Bates Motel so back to that for me. The SHIELD show stinks more than a giant green Hulk turd.

Want to know something weird? Before I opened the thread and read your post I guessed you'd say: EVERYTHING. Honest to god. That's hysterical! :lmao:

Well I wouldn't have even bothered to watch it if I didn't think I might like it. The concept sounded promising. The execution wasn't.

Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye. Skye.

And Ward. Ward. Ward. Ward. Ward. Ward. Ward.

He and J. August Richards shoulda swapped roles.

Although its only one episode in so I may come to like the characters later on.

The actor playing ward had some pretty bad delivery. Thank God Coulson is on this show.
