Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. What didn't you like?

I just want more veteran agents. I would've made either fitz or Simmons older. Have that mother/son or father/daughter dynamic in the tech department. Old school vs new school. It's very relatable to almost every fan, regardless of age.

Dial the comedy down a bit, bring in AIM or HYDRA and run with it.

C'mon can't we just have one fly over by Iron Man, even if it's reused movie footage and the cast pointing toward the sky and saying, "Hey, there goes Iron Man."

Another thing that bothers me about the show is that things happen in the show because the script calls for it but not because it's a natural progression of the show. Skye betrays the team but is allowed to stick around because she's looking for her parents.
Let's put this in a real world scenario:
After the Seals infiltrate Bin Laden's compound and kill him. They discover a young woman who's good with computers and allows her to tags along on missions. After a few missions they discover this woman has been leaking secrets to targets. See how stupid that sounds?

Agree 100%! SHIELD is suppose to be better than Navy Seals but between the scientists and Skye and all the comedy and stuff, its kind of hard to suspend your imagination.I truly want this show to succeed but I can understand why its losing viewers. Bringing in Daredevil or the Punisher would be perfect since Marvel has no clue what to do with them. If not, no way I can see this show gaining new viewers because most people were turned off by the first couple of episodes. Just saw the ratings for last nights episode and they lost more viewers again. Marvel needs to intervene if they want this show to survive.

The ratings went up again.

No it didn't compare to Ep4's ratings, Ep5's got lower viewers count/18-49 demo rating. 2.8 to 2.7 is a small drop, but its still a drop.

I'm really interested to see how will the ratings do when the show starts taking a break.

Call me negative Nancy but I can't see it doing any better afterwards.

This last episode was it for me. I know Skye is a hotty and all but Bennet is the most mediocre actress in a show chock full of mediocre actors (Ming-Na and Gregg excepted). But more importantly the character of Skye and all the story surrounding her just rubs me the wrong way, and in terms of continuing storylines THAT has been the focus. We get a little bit of progress of the "centepide" conspiracy and we're just twisting in the wind after 5 episodes about what's up with Coulson.

It's not JUST that focus on Skye has meant less time for Phil, it's also that the character is an idiot, but we are supposed to believe she's resilient and smart, and she clearly isn't. A huge pet peeve of mine is when writers on a show/movie keep telling me how smart a character is, then showing me that said character doesn't have the sense God gave the average dog. An example would be the first JURASSIC PARK sequel. We are told how J. Moore's character is this experienced scientist who is an expert on predatory animals, having years of field time with wild animals. Further more another scientist tells us at one point that T. Rex have a sense of smell superior to anything on Earth. Moore gets the blood of a T.Rex hatchling on her. This in fact is brought to her attention. "Hey, you're bleeding" "Oh, no biggie. It's baby T. Rex blood. Lets go trapsing through Raptor territory now. I'm not even going to take this blood covered shirt off." W... T... to the F?

Well on AGENTS we have Skye not bothering in the least it would seem to learn the differrence between the saftey and the ammo release on a sidearm AFTER already being in multiple life threatening situations. Then this last episode we see that Skye, after already warning her "lover" that he's being pursued by SHIELD makes the brilliant call to meet him at his apartment, and knowing that the manhunt is still going for said lover thinks, "Now is totally the right time for me to have some afternoon delight with my wanted by the super spy organization man." She's an idiot. Yet the writers think I as a viewer will forgive her idiocy because she's a nubile young woman willing to be the show's designated T&A. Sorry. I just refuse to subject myself to that level of insult to my intelligence on a weekly basis, especially since the one thing I do care about, Coulson's resurrection, is always being put on the back burner. For those who say it's only 5 episodes in I will reference something Joss Whedon himself said on the commentary of an episode of FIREFLY. Whedon made the point that the first five episodes or so of a show was what really should be considered "the pilot". If a show has not caught you by then, if the set up and characters don't appeal to you in some way by then he said, then they most likely never will for the viewer. I agree. It's been five episodes. I gave it a chance. Clearly it's not for me. What I am dreading is that this was a MARVEL show with heavy input from Joss. My Zod, what sort of offerings will Loeb and Marvel be giving us on tv WITHOUT Joss' input?

I know this all sounds harsh but it's my honest take. If you enjoy the show for what it is, more power to you. I just can't keep watching something that both disappoints and annoys me each week.

The level of incompetence for this team is also staggering. It's not consistent. Ward is supposed to be a bad @$$ secret agent but can't shadow a target without being made? I stopped watching the show 'live' and catch it on On Demand when I can.

I think either the characters need to be retooled a bit or they bring in other more interesting characters to spice things up. Like TheHeatKitchen mentioned, I want to see more veteran, experienced SHIELD agents in the show or added to the team. So far, I don't feel this group is well balanced enough nor have any real chemistry with each other.

I think this show really needs that "Firefly" factor of a tight-knit, well rounded group of individuals and personalities. Eventhough Firefly, too, took its time to get set up properly, the cast gelled very well together from the very first episode and I think thats what this show is lacking.

Great post Roach and Krypton. This show doesn't seem like a SHIELD or even Marvel show at all. And like you guys I'm trying to give this show a chance but it's so unrealistic and teeny-boppiery(a new word I made up)that it comes off silly and seems like it should be on the CW or ABC Family. The opening pilot shows you how many people wanted this to succeed but this show just fumbled the ball. I'm going to hold off a little longer but it feels like that's all I'm doing.

My complaint with the team is that there is a lot of overlap with jobs. May being on the team sort of negates Ward. She even took over Wards questioning of Coulson. It's like having Wolverine and Wildchild on the same team...eventually Wildchild is going to be redundant.
To give them a different job I would have made Ward the expert in espionage...think Face from A-team.
Fitz and Simmons also seam redundant. What are there areas of expertise? I would make one a medical doctor and the other the tech scientist. So now they have clear cut jobs without being redundant.
Skye seems to be growing into Ward Jr and I think this is a mistake. They should use her skills as a computer expert and hacker instead of making her a field agent.

Mission Impossible meets A-Team!

I really want to like this show but its just not happening. I don't know how many episodes they had filmed prior to the premiere, but I hope they can start retooling the show sometime soon. Maybe bring in Ron Glass and J August Richards as regulars. This current cast has negative chemistry.

Second season needs a complete retooling of the show.

I meant that it went up from a 2.6 in the initial reporting to a 2.7 in the final ratings .
Pretty sure last weeks initial rating for episode 4 was 2.7, final rating was 2.8
That is what I meant by "up again"
Sorry if I wasnt clear.

Minor tweaking?
Maybe .
A full on retooling might make things worse .
It is not a disaster.
It is a show like any other, experiencing its first year growing pains .

Get rid rid of the Tide angle.

Get rid of Syle.

Make Ward a bad ass with some solo mission.

More minor to world threats.

Retool the cast.
Get these guys a base…are we to believe they live in a plane that's flying all the time?
Stop showing SHIELD as incompetent.

Also use some d-list supes and vills to round out your ep.

Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation
Skeleton Crew
Silver Sable

This may have already been said, but for a Joss Whedon show, absolutely nothing so far has made it "feel" like he has had any involvement whatsoever. The humor is terribly bland and cookie cutter, the characters have zero chemistry and absolutely nothing interesting about themselves, the writing is boring and utterly uninvolving...really the only think I like about it is Coulson. Ward annoys me (seriously, he's supposed to be at Black Widow skill-level?), and Skye outright ticks me off when she's on screen. She's so irritating.

Everything about this show feels manufactured by the network with Joss' name slapped on. I would have thought he would make it feel more Marvel-y with MCU references for the fans to enjoy then all this new stuff (not the movies, but the broader comic universe). Hurry up and just reveal Centipede as part of Hydra!

I would say, the show needs a real major tweaking after its hiatus. Rework some characters, add someone from the comics to the team (SHIELD related or no), and give the show some kind of actual villain.

Since How I Met Your Mother is ending, maybe they can bring in Maria Hill as more of a regular to compliment Coulson, I definitely think the show could use more of her. They just need to bring in more experienced and older SHIELD agents to whip this team into shape and add some character and spice to the group, thats what it sorely lacking so far.

I think that this is a for hire job for Joss.
Its not like he had a passionate vision for SHIELD and insisted that he be involved .

Sorry if I wasnt clear.

I was comparing the ratings of Ep4 and Ep5.

So yes 2.8 to 2.7 is a small drop, but still, its a drop.

Just saw the Capt. trailer this show need to step up it's game in the second season:wow:
