What do you think the symbiote is?

I'm really starting to think that the symbiote won't be the alien suit, but something else. I'm kind of worried that it will be the "cure for cancer" suit from "Ultimate Spider-Man". I thought it was cool and all, but I would like it if such elements from the Ultimate universe stay in the Ultimate Marvel universe. But if it happens, then yeah it happens.

After watching the new trailer and seeing Harry's goblin suit, I've noticed that it's black (correct me if I'm wrong) and bears a striking resemblance to the symbiote. I'm now getting the idea that maybe the symbiote could be something that was developed by OsCorp or something around that alley, and maybe Harry is trying to use it to defeat Spidey, and the latter ends up getting a symbiote himself.

What are your theories?

So far I get the feeling Sam Raimi is working off of the Spider-Man animated series, with regard to Venom and the symbiote, at any rate. My guess is we'll see John Jameson returning from some outer space flight with the symbiote stowed away on his spacecraft, and somehow Peter will come into contact with it during one of his super-hero spectacles. Pretty much carbon-copied from the television show, which I'm actually very okay with, because those episodes were slammin'.

I was hoping that they'd show John returning to earth (not without having some type of altercation in space) with the symbiote stowing away on the ship. Scientists recover it and its being held in a lab or the government comes and gets a hold of it. Something along those lines. I just want the symbiote to be the ALIEN symbiote.

I'm sure it will be. Sam Raimi's take on Spider-Man has held very few similarities to the Ultimate-verse, if any.

It's an organism found on the moon, or some passing asteroid what I say. If they truly did get that bit from the cartoon, good move. That's the best way to bring the symbiote in without Secret Wars, or going into the Ultimate crap.

I hope it has something to do with JJ's rocket trip because that would mean SM3 would be in IMAX. If the JJ space trip is true the next trailer probably will start with a countdown and a Saturn V taking off.

Well the symbiote looks alive when peter has it over him, so my bet is it's an alien lifeform, and Raimi isn't stupid enough to detroy his fanbase by messing somehting like that up!

The symbiote is from the moon. There was a blurb in the Chicago Sun-Times that had an interview with Kirsten Dunst, they made mention that the symbiote comes from the moon. I assume a John Jameson mission...
