When it comes to the greatest film franchises, most of them end up in the toilet, one way or another.

Studios these days now are considering everything from continuing on these franchises, to remaking there original incarnations, and etc. From the proposed 'Robocop' remake, to Rob Zombie's 'Halloween' film.

If you're like me, you'd say to leave these franchises alone, and don't allow anyone else to screw them up more then they may already have been.

But if given the choice, which of the following film franchises could you see getting away with being resurrected, be it through a remake, or a new installment that is an improvement over the last one?

Feel free to give an explination for your choice as well. If I've left any out, don't hesitate to include your own choices into the conversation.

James Bond maybe, as expectations tend to be more sensible for these films. Most of the franchises listed have seen their best days.

Most have had to much damage done with poor sequels,DTV versions and general oversaturation of the franchise

Predator could maybe be saved with the right director but i doubt it and the fact not only Cameron but also Arnie our out for a Terminator 4 i think ruins it's chances

Off the poll, I'd say The Evil Dead. But they're all pretty tired.

I just like to think with Raimi's popularity now, if he came up with a top notch story & got Bruce involved, the Evil Dead would be my pick.

I REALLY want another Elm Street movie. Before Robert Englund gets too old.

Franchise is such a terrible word to tag onto a series of films. Series or saga is more appropriate. I find franchise to be disrespectful to the artists who created the films. Franchise sounds like something a studio suit would use to describe a series of films...nothing more than money making endeavors.

I say if they made another Alien movie like Aliens, it would better than seeing another AvP sequel.

I think most of those franchises could be brought back from the dead, just not yet. Wait a few years for them to fester in the dark, find some ambitious director that's looking to bring life back into the setting and not merely wanting to cash in on the name. Then, release an awesome ass trailer for the film(s) and watch as fans relive their childhood glee as when they first saw the films.

I say Terminator. Just bring in Cameron again.

On second thoughts, rather than a tired sequel within the same continuity, a reboot with new versions of characters and storyline twists could work for some of these franchises, especially with the passage of time. If Batman Begins can revive the Batman franchise relatively soon after Batman and Robin it is certainly possible.

That would be a dream come true. He could make T4 and end it there. Isn't he suppose to make a movie this year?

All of those franchises COULD pull off another film. The question is, WILL they?

Not Robocop, in the live action show he died. He killed someone in the OCP and stopped functioning.

That would be cool. There's so much that they could still cover that could be done with multiple sequels. Terminator 3 was just a prelude to the epic war yet to come between man & machine. We may never get to see a full movie that is souly dedicated to the war just bits & pieces each time. The next movie could deal with the creation of time travel & trying to prevent the first bad Terminator from coming back & Michael Biehn could be brought back into the series to reprise his role from the first movie all they would have to do is just show him going back in time without ruining the first movie.

How about a remake of the first Terminator were bad Terminator Arnold Vs. Good Terminator Arnold? Either way there needs to be a finality to the series with the next movie or doing more & more sequels will turn into a complicated mess.

I wouldn't mind another Jurassic Park film and I might even get pretty excited over another Alien flick.

Predator. The story wouldn't have to be very intertwined with the first 2, so it could be a fresh, kickass movie.

your quite wrong, actually your wrong wrong wrong.

In both live action versions either the series or even the Prime directives series..Robo did not shut down.. In the latter it was actually Robocable who set of a EMP pulse which shut himself down.. Murphy survived.

I want a Robocop Sequel, but darn Weller surely won't be back unless he's paid a billion dollars and it just aint robo without him...

The Alien Franchise ... Maybe ... but only if they involve a director who understands what this series is about. Is Ridley Scott really that busy ??

The Terminator Franchise ... Oh yes ... We just want the future war.

The Robocop Franchise ... No ... A product of the 80s that had its moment.

The Snake Plissken 'Escape' Franchise ... Nope ... Carpenter has nothing left to give. I would be keen to see a Thing sequel but thats it.

The Predator Franchise ... Yes ... Sky is the limit, so much be could be done if done right. Would need a decent budget.

The Evil Dead Franchise ... Mmmmmmmm ... maybe.

The Halloween Franchise ... Yes ... Myers has much to give as a character.

The Nightmare on Elm Street Franchise ... No ... Please put Freddy to sleep.

The Friday the 13th Franchise ... Maybe ... But it needs 'something' ...

The Jurassic Park Franchise ... NO.

Other Franchise ... Die hard .... Bring it on !
