The Dark Knight What Happened to ... Wayne Enterprises, the Monorail

People mention the Narrows. Gordon mentions the Narrows is lost at the end of Begins, and in the loosely tied-in Gotham Knight, the Narrows is Arkham now, with certain prisoners kept locked away and others allowed to roam the streets as "citizens".

Only just seen the film here in the UK, but the monorail was noticeably missable to me - it's a minor niggle I know, but it was such a point in the first film that Bruce's family built it for Gotham, it should have been prominent in the background during street scenes, even it wasn't a plot device - it's just there!
I did wonder why they didn't show Wayne Tower again, but like as been already said, i'm sure there's more than one Wayne building in Gotham.

the monorail might be there more than you think. every seen where batman is rushing through streets (like in the lamborgini to save reese)... he's driving right under it! you didn't think streets had roofs did you?

that's actually the elevated train in Chicago, so if you see him driving under it for a stretch in Gotham, it must be the monorail. sorry i don't have a screen cap.

maybe this can give you an idea what i mean, though the one bruce drove under wasn't closed in by buildings... but you get the idea. what else could it be in gotham?

Why does everything need explaining? Would you prefer a 2 and half hour kicka$$ Bat film, or would you prefer a 2 and a half hour question and answer session about trivialities?

my question: is the street where they have the showdown with the semi the same street that had the monorail crash in front of Wayne Tower at the end of Batman Begins? Or is that on 'the other side'?

The monorail was noticably abscent in this film. It is a minor gripe, just wondering where it went or if it all got torn down? Also, Wayne Enterprises just magically in another building, without the signature logo? Was that because it got destroyed in BEGINS?

Minor thoughts I had seeing if anyone had any insight into them.

I was wondering the same thing but it looks like the question has been answered. :)

I was watching it again, and there is a city shot where the camera zooms in to waynes penthouse and in the lower left you can see a train going by

I think you can see the monorail in one shot, maybe not though.
The monorail IS in the movie. you can see it right after the scene with Bruce falling asleep at the meeting. Afterwards, you see a outside shot of Wayne Enterprise, and you can see the monorail on the left, and a train goes by.

By the way: I don't know if this has been said, I've only read the first page. ;)

I just watched the movie today, and travesty is right, you just have too look. Clearly they probably took that section out of the wayne tower because it collapsed and that section would have to be rebuilt, seeing how its a weakness they could have changed the location, or at least thats how I would explain it.

I know what you're saying, but surely that's just Chicago's rail system, as featured in The Blues Brothers and the French Connection - the Monorail in BB is a lot higher above street level and it's supports are different. I suppose in the suburbs it could be different, but in the middle of the City surely they'd be the same as BB.
Hell, who cares, TDK was pretty much perfect anyhow! :woot:

I know it showed Bruce and Luscious doing business in a new building with WAYNE on it, but do we even see Wayne Tower in the film?

During the tractor trailer showdown isnt that Wayne Tower in the background behind Joker and Bats?

I was dissapointed we didnt get to see anything to do with it in the film, it being fixed from the monorail crash, or see the monorail being included at all.

Is this not Wayne Tower in the background?

That is a pretty nice shot. Production photo and not a still, I assume?

And I'm not sure about the tower. Where exactly was the party held?

Yeah they showed it. It said W A Y N E in big letters. lol.

I'd imagine after the monorail crashing into the basement of Wayne Tower taking out some structural columns, and with the destruction of that rail line, both would have been undergoing vast repairs. Hence another building being used for Wayne Enterprises in the meantime. Also, the virals mentioned on the Rail site which lines were no longer in use/under repair or whatnot, and the one to Wayne Tower was one line.

All in all its no big deal, but a slight reference or glimpse during the film wouldn't have been to much to ask for.
