What has been worse for the Marvel Legends Line?

Hasbro was very harmful for the line...
Store exclusives don't help when #$%^& Wal Mart does not stock their own exclusives!!

But on the good side at least ML didn't end up as part of Playmates toys... now THAT would've sucked big time!!

I think most of the blame belongs to Hasbro. Its very unforunate when I have diposal income and I cant find any ML figs during the holiday season at retail stores. It doesnt add up. With a little leg work I was able to get the DCUC Wave 10 characters I covet at retail

On top of that there doesnt seem to be any news regarding upcoming figures. I could deal with the lack of figures if I had something to look forward to but at this point the only thing we know is that we'll get 3 2-packs sometime next year.

All the Hasbro (Marvel related) news I've seen is for the Joe Scale figs... There's a Spidey line coming (in 3" 3/4) and some figures will have a T-Crotch... Seriously, T crotches shoud be banned... (They are one of the reasons I don't collect Star Wars. Also they helped me skip Indiana Jones.) At this rate it seems that I'll only be attempting to collect MOTUC... (not too fond of the many fiery hoops that Mattel is making me jump for the figs... They ARE nice but they feel a tad overpriced.)
I'm not too fond of the MU figs, yes I've bought a few, but I don't think I'm going to go crazy and buy everything.
Got a few Joes from the 25th and ROC. As soon as I locate a pair of City Strike Snake Eyes I'll be done with the Joe figs. (and IF I'm able to find a WWE B&B Sgt. Slaughter that would be icing on the cake.)

@#$%^ing Hasbro!!! still is better than Playmates... but hasbro has pissed me off royally these last few months...

You remember those Spider-man classics figures that Hasbro put out a few of every year? That's what those are, in a smaller scale, mean't for kids (which is a synonym for action features and less articulation).

MOTUC cost $20 per figure because they make less of them than a retail line. It's a basic rule of manufacturing, the more you have made. The less it costs per unit. IE 6000 He-mans costs more than 60000 He-man's. Mattel makes less than 10000 units of each MOTUC figure.

Now as someone who doesn't own any Marvel legends beyond Ironfist. I have no investment in these. So I can love MU until the end time. And Hasbro made massive improvements over Toybiz in terms of sculpting. Toybiz aculpting was abomiably ugly. It's the big reason I never dove in big time to LCBH. I think the big problem is that what worked Toybiz selling ML stopped working for Hasbro.

My biggest worry is since Hasbro are masters at reusing figs and rereleasing them with a slight change in paint and calling it a brand new figure (or version of a figure). THe worst fear is having the "kiddie" figures with less articulation appearing on the MU line. (still waiting for the other five members of the sinister six, but I don't want a tentacle snapping Ock that can't barely move...)

I know about the "limited run" vs "mass retail" cost ratio difference and MOTUC. I still think that they're a bit overpriced. (Various QC issues, the necessity of being online on the 15th at noon, while battling the Red Screen of Death, Getting the Subscription doesn't help either because it does not cover bonus figures like Battle Cat, The Goddess, Zodak, etc. So subscribers STILL have to battle the RSOD for their figs. I'm not counting the other lines that go on sale, or the scalpers that buy multiple figures to resell at an even more steep price, or the Costumer Service nightmare that is dealing with Digital River.) Basically it's too much of a hassle for toys that are pretty the same quality of mass produced retail toys. (Battlecat on the other hand seems like it's on a fair price.)

I'd kill for some more X-Statix characters...

:mad:Hasbro, without a doubt, has been absolutly toxic for Marvel Legends. Sloppy paint, crappy packaging(SP?), reduced articulation, inferior sculpts, and, worst of all, $#!++/ distibution! The 4^(<*&$ cancelled half of an exclusive wave in mid-shipment! And now, after a year long silence, all they anounce for sure in 2010 is 6 figures! Oh, but if you're into tiny, GI Joe scale figures, you're in all kinds of luck! 4^(< you Hasbro, and 4^(< anyone who supports MU over ML.

Hasbro ruined it for me by reducing the quality of the Icons line and then ending it :(

I agree.....hasbro ruined Marvel Legends.....it's a shame really.....

I know I'm late, but I agree with RN here. While Hasbro didn't make the best ML figures, they were still pretty good, and above all else, 6 inches. At first they were off to a good start, releasing a good mount of waves in the first year, then we started to see deep spaces between waves. Then we get the introduction of Marvel Universe, the intended replacement to ML (even though Hasbro denies that). Now that is all they do, and ML becomes nothing but mere two packs.

I'm sorry, that is unacceptable, as a die hard fan of ML, I hate to see myself drift and not look forward to what they plan on revealing. Because I know it's just going to be Marvel Universe. Now...we have a new scale for Spider-Man classics, you guessed it....3 inches. Hasbro is replacing our beloved scale, and putting their own stupid ass dumb **** spin on things. Hasbro was indeed the worst thing to happen to Marvel toys, they got the license simply for the name.

I'm only going to continue buying their previous figures, because:
A. They're 6 inches
B. It's Marvel Legends

I'll be damned if I buy any of those Marvel Puniverse figures, nope, not me. I'll backtrack and get previous figures, but I'm not downsizing.

Have the other 3 characters been announced or is it still only Black Widow, Deadpool, and Valkryie we know for sure?

Just the 3 for now.

What I want to know is, what gave Hasbro the impression that people were no longer interested in the 6 inch line? I mean, from their perspective, sure, the tiny figures are great because they are cheaper to make and they can sell them at almost the same price as their bigger counterparts, but c'mon, no love for the Legends? I find that hard to believe...

It seems to me every time someone posts some kinda interview from Jesse Falcon or whomever, they are ALWAYS asking for Legends news.

It just pisses me off that Hasbro gets the coveted Marvel Legends property, which was one of, if not THE best toy line of the past 10 years or so....then they do everything they can to ruin it, and replace it with a smaller, cheaper (quality, not price), inferior product.

And, what, we're supposed to just jump ship and say "Yay, give us smaller, crappier version of what we've been buying for the last few years."

**** 3.75" Marvel Universe and **** Hasbro. :cmad:

I only bought 3 MU figures a few months ago, mostly because who knows if we'll ever see them in the Legends Line, Wolvie's X-Force Warpath, 90's Jean, and Classic Sunfire.

I know Warpath had a prototype, but again who knows if we'll ever see it. Classic Sunfire should have been released way before AOA Sunfire (still a cool figure though). Even thought it wasn't in the Legends Line, a 90s Cyclops was released in an X-Men line a few years back, I woulda thunk 90s Jean woulda eventually come out...:csad:

Seeing how Marvel Legends seems to be over (i'm only picking up Deadpool when it comes out)...and I already own most of the X Characters in the Marvel Legends Line ( I basically just need the variants, I own the basic figures, and the X Related BAFs )...I can go ahead and look for the X-Men Classics (2004, 2005-06) figs. Oh well...

Spider-jay can I add this to my sig:
"**** 3.75" Marvel Universe and **** Hasbro. :cmad: "

You better add that to your sig! Spread the word, brotha.

LONG LIVE 6" MARVEL LEGENDS!!!

Marvel Universe>Marvel Legends.

Every time I think I might be inclined to buy a MU figure I then see it in person and just can't bring myself to do it.They look cheap to me.

Marvel Univers>Marvel Legends.

No way!!

For guys that showed up late to the party, and can't get the Legends, and crappy little MU are the best they can get, maybe.

But as far as poseability, coolness, and just plain fun, LEGENDS ALL THE WAY!!

edit: Let me ask you this...If Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe were released at the same time and were both easily accessable, would you still prefer MU?

I believe I've seen him say he prefers the 3.75 scale to 6.I could be wrong.

...Doubt they would ever appear...but this is a wishlist of characters i've had and would have loved to see at one point or another...:csad:...I also added some of the more recent characters...

Cassandra Nova, Ernst, and No-Girl/Martha Johansson...(Cassandra to me is a no-brainer...)

Deathbird, Lilandra, and D'Ken...

Quentin Quire/Kid Omega and the Omega Gang....

a Husk and Icarus to display with the Cannonball...

a Vulcan and Corsair to display with Cyclops and Havok...

Any X-Statix members to go with the Doop figure...

Any New Mutants/Generation X/New X-Men/Young X-Men (I need more than just Cannonball and X-23...)

An Inferno Maddie/Goblin Queen...

and just for fun...Shortpack to go with Mystique...

I think of that list, your best shot is with Vulcan, mainly because he was the villian from War Of Kings, but everyone else....I say no chance. Sorry bud.

Nice sig, by the way :cwink:

saw the new spidey figs today... the ones that fit much more into "tarantulas" scale. Green goblin looks good if you didnt have one, and the new black spidey actually looks pretty badass... too bad there like a half an inch or so out of scale... they wouldn't look "horrible" in a display but there definitely scaling them down :(

MU are way more fun.

Yes.

Articulation has limits before it detracts from the figure, sculpting details too. It's why I hate Toybiz ML. The sculpting and artic were so over done the figures looked really horrible. MU and HBML in general have the right balance.

Lars, are you playing with them or displaying them?

When I used to play with my toys, I'd throw them around and bash them into each other and not care if they get banged up and if that's what you're doing, then yeah, I'd rather have MU. I'm not about to smash up my Legends.

But if you're displaying them like SpideyBoy and I do, the 6 inch Legends are so much better. Look at NewAvengers12 display. he has both ML and MU. You really think the MU looks better?

Your opinion and all, and no disrespect, but ML is superior to MU in every way possible. The only thing MU has going for it is that they pump out way more figures, way more quickly then ML. Of course, I prefer quality of quantity, but that's just me.

Both. I have them displayed on computer desk. So I can fiddle with them at my lesiure.
