This is just a weird thought that I had.

What with there being the possibility of a Dark Knight Returns movie, hopefully having Frank Millar involved in the production some how and his having worked with Quentin Tarantino in the past in Sin City, I just started to wonder what if the same man who directed classics like Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs would do with the Caped Crusader if he was in the driver's seat.

What do you think his vision of Batman would be?

"What do you think his vision of Batman would be?"
- Bad...

Considering Frank Millar previous plans for a Batman movie I would hope he stays away from the franchise and post Jackie Brown Tarantino's movies have been kind of meh to me.

A Tarantino Batman movie would be just like his other movies a bunch of homages, ideas and scenes from obscure movies taped together into one film.

I suspect Quentin Tarantino's "Batman" would be another gloriously-bloody late '60s/early '70s-influenced revenge-drama homage to car-chase movies and chopsocky flicks. And for some reason I see Tarantino having the cajones to put whoever plays Batman in a muted version of Adam West's costume and driving a black '70s street machine of some kind with red trim and red bats painted on the sides.

If he actually took a Batman story and adapted it faithfully i think he would do a good job. He is able to portray criminals with realistic reactions, charteristics, while at the same time giving them the staple movie conventions.
In much the same way he could do costumed crooks and heroes as having the conventions, whilst giving them some realistic actions, I think it would be very interesting to see what he would do with them.

He's said in an interview that if he were to do a superhero film(as people were always asking him 'why don't you do the Flash or something?') he wouldn't do an established character but invent his own, so's he wouldn't have to deal with fans getting on his case, he could invent his own rules.
It was an interview on UK tv I saw this, maybe on the culture show.

I reckon Tarantino could do a really good job with more obscure characters like Cloak and Dagger the drugs message in thier earlier stories (and origin) would suit him perfectly.

If Tarantino directed Batman I imagine it would be an 80's style like Millers Year 1.

I could see elements of Ledgers Joker but it would be done to the extreme. Like with Gambol in the pool room but you would see the blood and him cutting the Chelsea Smile.

Saying that, would WB take a risk in using Tarantino and would he be comfortable knowing he would most likely have restrictions on the final cut of the film? He said recently in an interview that he was asked to do Casino Royale but felt restricted with what he was allowed to do so he didn't even consider doing it

-What does the Joker look like?
--What?
-What country you from?
--: What?
-What ain't no country I ever heard of! They speak English in What?
--: What?
-ENGLISH, MOTHER****ER! DO-YOU-SPEAK-IT?
--Yes!
-Then you know what I'm saying!
--Yes!
-Describe what the Joker looks like!
--What, I-?
[pointing his gun] Say what again. SAY WHAT AGAIN. I dare you, I double dare you, mother****er. Say what one more goddamn time.
--: He's p-p-ale white...
-Go on.
--He's got a big smile...
-Does he look like a *****?
--What?
[Jules shoots Brett in shoulder]
-DOES HE LOOK LIKE A *****?
--No!
-Then why you try to **** him like a *****, Brett?
-- I didn't.
-Yes you did. Yes you did, Brett. You tried to **** him. And Mr J don't like to be ****ed by anybody, except Harley Quinn.

That way?

Robert Rodrizuez for Batman is a dream for me. I would love a Batman movie by him. Great action with blood and gore, with sexy women plus sick ass villians battling The Batman.

As for his film the time period would be in the 60s/70s. Though him wearing Adam West Batman uniform or driving his car. Well the 60s/70s format will be their in Rodrizuez film, but I doubt he would drive the West car and wear his suit. It would be a regular Batmobile and him wearing the all black suit. Movie would be greatness for me.

I always wanted Guillermo Del Toro to direct either a Clayface or Scarecrow film

For me I love to see David Fincher directing a Batman movie.

Not necesarily, when Reservoir dogs came out, folk would all talk about 'Ohh, that's the movie where the guy gets his ear cut off' as if it was some big gore fest. But in the actual film during that sequence the cameras pans away and you don't see anything of the act at all.

That doesn't chime with what he's said in other interviews.
He was quite outspoken to the press after CR came out, saying that he was angry with the producers of Casino Royale because they didn't ask him to do CR or even acknowledge that they got the idea for the re-boot from him. It was Tarantino who had the idea of re-booting the Bond franchise by going back to the sourse and doing a realistic hard adaption of CR , the first Bond book. He said this in a lot of interviews in the years before CR was announced, I remember reading them.
I imagine they didn't ask him to do the movie for much the same reasons you said in your post, he would want to do things his way with no restrictions, and is a big enough director to have this freedom on all his films.

He petitioned to do one of the Star wars prequels when they were announced, and even did some kind of demo reel, but i imagine even if Lucas was shopping for other directors he would not have given one to QT for much the same reasons.
So yeah, I agree, it would probably be the same with any Batman movie.

All i know is that if Tarantino directed a Batman movie, it would be damn good.

A rated R Batman movie inspired by the Adam West show. It would be glorious.

I think a Tarantino Batman film would probably be terrible in all honesty. QT (shush) is known for his delivery of sharp and witty dialogue, and casting the right witty and cynical men and women to deliver this dialogue. Would you really want to see a film where Batman talks to Commission Gordon about massaging Catwoman's feet and how hard it is to get a special metal to form his batarangs while Kool and the Gang play quietly in the background for 2 and half hours? Think about it.. Im sure there would be some good action and stuff...but he just doesnt have the right tone for a Batman flick.

...come to think of it, I actually CAN see Tarantino directing a live-action version of All-Star B&R. :oldrazz:

If Tarantino directed a Batman film there would at least be a closeup of woman's feet.

Lol he has a fetish or something? Jeez louiez poppa cheese.

As for an Allstar B&R take that be GREATNESS! I mean, words cannot describe how fantastic that movie would be. Batman smacking Robin be hilarious to see on film too.

I would not take any children to see that movie! I dont want Quentin Tarantino to direct a Batman movie

Lol sorry but a RAMBO style Batman movie be great, minus the killing cause he does not kill.

Couldn't agree more. Whenever I watch Se7en I think of Gotham City. Fincher would be perfect for the job.

As for Tarantino, the movie would probably begin with the ending, have the beginning in the middle, and the middle in the end.
