The glasses are just one element of his "disguise".
I always thought that it was stupid, before I ever heard of Nolan. And it's not really a "problem", i just always found it silly and unbelievable, so when they start talking about how they want to make Superman less of a cheeseball or MOS more realistic for how we are & react in the real world...it seems just as cheesy that a pair of glasses would make somebody completely blind to the similarities. What's over-complicated about it? So you can't create a new disguise that's a little more believable without being super technical? These are brilliant writers and they can use their imagination. It also makes Lois Lane look like a complete ****** yet she's supposed to be an intelligent woman at the same time?
Let's hope the fake mustache doesn't fall off.
I've never thought it was stupid at all. Because I know it's not supposed to be realistic. Obviously. No one actually thinks a pair of glasses would disguise them.
Just like, for instance, no one actually thinks you can get to the top of a tower by climbing a woman's ridiculously long hair. But you wouldn't try and make a rapunzel story where the prince uses a ladder.
The 'hiding in plain sight' disguise of glasses has a POINT to it. A point that's important to the character, and the whole dynamic of the story.
To loose that would be incredibly sad to me.
The glasses work, because they are simply the cherry on top.
You have to remember that it's because of Clark's personality that people don't see Superman as well.
As I said before, yes maybe people will think, ¨Clark sure does look like Superman¨.
But it all boils down to this - ¨that quiet, mild mannered, idiotic four eyed loser CANNOT be Superman, even though he looks like him¨
I dont think its important at all. Its very small in the grand scheme of things, and it's because a large portion of the fanbase are USED to him having the glasses cuz it's always been there.
The glasses are the equivalent to the Jokers perma-white argument. Most people had a hissy fit over what they were doing with Heath, the end result made more sense and the vast majority don't care anymore. Because it's not what makes The Joker. Same with Clark/Superman.
The glasses don't matter IMO. And if they can find a way to do it differently, then so be it.
Give him a fake beard and blond wig with the glasses.

Of course they did, because they had no reason to doubt it was them. My point was that it only took a very slight physical difference for people to not believe Groucho Marx was himself, despite presenting himself as Groucho Marx and not acting any differently.^Yeah, but did Chaplin's and Marx's family and friends know who they were?

Imagine how much he could have accomplished if he ran with it and pretended to be someone completely different.
In fact, an actual Marx brother did take advantage of that. Did you know that Chico Marx dressed up as Harpo Marx and Groucho was fooled completely? And that's his own brother.
So, there you go. Family and friends can be fooled.
¨This is all I can send you...Kal-El...these pair of glasses so no one will recognize you when you put them on¨

LMAO
Superman: But why father?
Jor-EL: You're so damn ugly, even when you were a baby Kal-El. The truth is that I didn't want an ug-mo for a son and I had to get rid of you. I couldn't take any chances of anyone noticing that you're my son. Looks like it didn't work.
