What If the glasses are gone!

The glasses are just one element of his "disguise".

I always thought that it was stupid, before I ever heard of Nolan. And it's not really a "problem", i just always found it silly and unbelievable, so when they start talking about how they want to make Superman less of a cheeseball or MOS more realistic for how we are & react in the real world...it seems just as cheesy that a pair of glasses would make somebody completely blind to the similarities. What's over-complicated about it? So you can't create a new disguise that's a little more believable without being super technical? These are brilliant writers and they can use their imagination. It also makes Lois Lane look like a complete ****** yet she's supposed to be an intelligent woman at the same time?

I've never thought it was stupid at all. Because I know it's not supposed to be realistic. Obviously. No one actually thinks a pair of glasses would disguise them.

Just like, for instance, no one actually thinks you can get to the top of a tower by climbing a woman's ridiculously long hair. But you wouldn't try and make a rapunzel story where the prince uses a ladder.

The 'hiding in plain sight' disguise of glasses has a POINT to it. A point that's important to the character, and the whole dynamic of the story.

To loose that would be incredibly sad to me.

Let's hope the fake mustache doesn't fall off.

Give him a fake beard and blond wig with the glasses.

I dont think its important at all. Its very small in the grand scheme of things, and it's because a large portion of the fanbase are USED to him having the glasses cuz it's always been there.

The glasses are the equivalent to the Jokers perma-white argument. Most people had a hissy fit over what they were doing with Heath, the end result made more sense and the vast majority don't care anymore. Because it's not what makes The Joker. Same with Clark/Superman.

The glasses don't matter IMO. And if they can find a way to do it differently, then so be it.

The glasses work, because they are simply the cherry on top.

You have to remember that it's because of Clark's personality that people don't see Superman as well.

As I said before, yes maybe people will think, ¨Clark sure does look like Superman¨.

But it all boils down to this - ¨that quiet, mild mannered, idiotic four eyed loser CANNOT be Superman, even though he looks like him¨

This....people just don't get that...they think it's cheesy cause WE know already that Clark is Superman

I think changing it has more of an effect than you realise.

As it stands, his whole change of personality as Clark Kent is a part of the disguise, right?

But why on earth would he have to act any differently if he had a fool proof disguise that was impossible to see through?

Why would he have to constantly pretend to be nebbish and much less confident than he is, if it was not absolutely essential that he keep up that ruse so that no one realised he was Superman?

But then maybe you just don't care if they leave out the Clark Kent personality... Maybe that's not important either

Charlie Chaplin came third place in a Charlie Chaplin lookalike contest.

Groucho Marx went through years of people not believing he was himself because he didn't have his famous (fake) moustache from the movies.

The glasses disguise is better than people give it credit for.

^Yeah, but did Chaplin's and Marx's family and friends know who they were?

The only real problem with the glasses disguise is that it doesn't adequately explain why an intelligent reporter who's seen both men up close wouldn't realize they're the same man.

Give him a fake beard and blond wig with the glasses.

I know you're joking, but if he wore a wig and glasses it would be a better explanation for why Lois doesn't recognize him.

Indeed.

Since Superman has dyed dark jet Black hair, Clark can wear a light brown hair wig.

Example of light brown hair:

Cavill's dyed black hair for Superman:

It would make a difference, especially if his Superman hair is short and his Clark hair is longer and shaggier, like the picture of Cavill from Stardust.

It wouldn't be out of the norm either. Black Canary and Supergirl do the wig thing for their disguises.

Even more useful would be if he wore a fake beard with the wig. It would conceal Cavill's jawline.

It would be like this, with much lighter hair for the wig and a fuller beard (like in the set photos):

Clark would look like a modern hipster. Nothing out of the norm.

Yeah glasses or not cavill has a very distinguished face and features how are they going to establish clark not being obviously superman?

Them taking a more "relalistic" approach i hope they're not going to make a building full or reporters being ignorantly un-aware of the similarities between the two. I hope they have something up their sleeves.

Even in returns it was ridiculous how lois who obviously had intimate relations with superman still didn't see any resemblances between him and clarke.

Of course they did, because they had no reason to doubt it was them. My point was that it only took a very slight physical difference for people to not believe Groucho Marx was himself, despite presenting himself as Groucho Marx and not acting any differently.

Imagine how much he could have accomplished if he ran with it and pretended to be someone completely different.

In fact, an actual Marx brother did take advantage of that. Did you know that Chico Marx dressed up as Harpo Marx and Groucho was fooled completely? And that's his own brother.

So, there you go. Family and friends can be fooled.

But I'll bet Chico had to put on more than just a pair of glasses to fool Groucho. In fact, he must have put on a wig, which is something I think Clark should do.

How long did he fool Groucho for, anyway?

The glasses are a must. If they want to add in a fake beard or a wig, that's fine, but the glasses stay.

Are they gonna have an explanation for why no one recognizes him? In this day and age, Clark would be on TMZ in like five minutes.

The glasses are alien, from Krypton, they came with the ship he arrived in, that's why when Clark wears them, nobody recognizes him, once he takes them off, they know he's Superman,, look at Superman The Movie,,,

I think this makes sense...

¨This is all I can send you...Kal-El...these pair of glasses so no one will recognize you when you put them on¨

:lmao:

LMAO

Superman: But why father?

Jor-EL: You're so damn ugly, even when you were a baby Kal-El. The truth is that I didn't want an ug-mo for a son and I had to get rid of you. I couldn't take any chances of anyone noticing that you're my son. Looks like it didn't work.

I'm ok with them ditching the trunks but I'll be damned if they take Clark's glasses from him

Just imagine if they didn't work on certain people.

"Honey, I swear that guy is Superman"
"Who? Him? He looks nothing like him"
"OH COME ON! HE'S THE SPITTING IMAGE!"
"Superman doesn't wear glasses...and he isn't five foot two, with long blond hair and buck teeth"
"...Well I know what I'm going to do for your seventieth......putting you in the loony bin" :awesome:
