What if Ang's Hulk was never made, '08 is the first time Hulk is on the big screen, how would things be different? Would it be doing better at the box office? Would marvel of released the longer Norton cut with a bigger psychological element? Would the film of received this last minute marketing scheme? Would they of hired a more experienced CG team? These kinda things.

We would have gotten a bigger opening weekend, and a much lower B.O dropping rate from week to week.

There'd be hype for this. That's the fact of the matter. This had all of the makings of a good film, but that was all overshadowed by the fact that the last film burned the audience so badly. Don't forget, Ang's film was hyped up as a great film. The editing issue, the marketing...would that matter if this was the first try? I don't think so. But because it isn't and the first is seen as a bad movie, it couldn't generate enough interest and the pessism has kept that interest low.

You may be right about former but not the latter. I don't think '03 has anything to do with the B.O. drop rate.

If this had come out in in 2003 instead of Ang's it would've done close to Spiderman numbers. Atleast twice the numbers it's doing now.

Me neither, i just dont the marketing or distribution of Hulk was good or big enough.

I meant if the '03 film never existed, TIH would not have nose-dived, week to week, at the B.O like Hulk '03 did.

Ummm...I don't think so.

I second that. He may be popular, but Spider-Man has remained in the spotlight in different mediums for some time. Hulk hasn't attracted interest since the TV show, despite the fact that he's a household name. Maybe it would've come close to the first Spidey's numbers, but I doubt we could've hoped even for that.

If HULK was never made, TIH would've had the potential to be up there with Spiderman. Actually it woud've if this was done way earlier:

MARKETING!!!!!!

Anyway, great movie:yay:

By most reasonable accounts, it had a good opening weekend. Bettter than expected. If it doesn't have good legs, that's its own fault.

Please stop saying "of" when you should be saying "have".

I don't think the "last minute marketing" had anything to do with hulk 03. I think it had everything to do with Iron Man. Marvel was pimping that like there was no tomorrow. and the buzz from IM hadn't died down enough for them to stop pushing it, early enough to start pushing TIH. That's what happens when you have an unexpected hit, and another moving following close after.

It would have put numbers equal to IM, and yes the 03' version did hurt TIH. I know ppl who wont see TIH because of the 03' version, before TIH came out ppl still had a negative perception from the 03' version even though ppl haven't seen TIH yet. TIH was screwed before it even had a chance, thanks Ang, and the ppl who hired him.

I think I understood what you said, but I still don't agree with that point.

Agreed. This movie is not doing poorly by any stretch.

It would've opened with much more but I still don't think that it's legs would have been as good as IM's or Spider-Man's because I honestly don't feel it is as good as those films.

i don't know what ang lee hulk's competition was but it seems this hulk had alot of hurdles to overcome.

i don't know if the BO would be different, but at least there wouldn't be any comparison discussion and threads. it will be all about the 08' movie.
