They own the rights to the most popular and successful Marvel cartoons like X-Men: The Animated Series, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, and Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.

Hugely awesome shows which The Walk Disney Company owns, and they refuse to release them on DVD. Pretty much ALL famous TV shows are now on DVD, even old shows. DC has released their Batman and Justice League Animated Series on DVD and the Marvel toons don't get skwat.

They're not even playing them on their channels like they used to anymore. X-Men, Spider-Man, and Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends used to run on Toon Disney's "Jetix" hours and but ever since this year, they don't anymore.

Disney isn't doing anything with them. Why are they letting such profitable products go to waste? Are they stupid?

What's their deal? If anyone knows something PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

Should we blame Marvel for selling the rights to those shows, or is it entirely Disney's fault? Why did Marvel sell them anyway? Ugh!!!

I heard it's because Disney doesn't COMPLETELY own the shows. I heard Disney, Fox, and Marvel each own percentage of the show.

Thats the same reason why the `60s Batman show isn't on DVD. WB owns Batman and FOX owns the show.

When does Fox and Disney's rights to the Marvel toons expire? Maybe then Marvel can buy back the remaining percentage of the rights and release them themselves.

It doesn't. X-Men and Spider-Man were FOX Kids shows. When Saban sold his share of FOX Kids to Disney they got his percentage.

EDIT:

Correction! They were Saban productions distributed by FOX. Saban sold his production company to Disney. So its a Disney production with FOX distribution and character ownership by Marvel.

Man, I'd really like Spider-Man season box. They did release some of the episodes on DVD, why not the whole series?

I wish they would do best of. if it sells well they should relese more dvds. i got all the spider-man dvds. I only got one X-Men dvd.

Then why don't all three companies do some negotiations to release the cartoons? Will they be unprofitable or something?

No,those cartoons are among the best ever made. There was no being cheap, everything was done to the best of the ability.Animation, music, voice actors and writers were all the best money could buy.I think it comes down to rights, will Marvel ever get them back?Because i know they would be successfull if made on DVD.
