I feel like bomer might be a littke short for shazam. I like him for flash or GL though. Although I wouldn't mind him replacing RDJ in the near future hopefully.

I think Bomer and Hammer are both pretty weak choices for Shazam.

Joe Manganiello might be the best bet. Ashton Kutcher is a good wildcard choice.

None of these. None at all.

Patrick Warburton isn't too old, right, right? :(

Actually this whole project could be ruined by calling him Shazam. Sounds like a cheap knock off, like Captain Wonder or something.

I love Bomer, but I want him with Marvel Studios. :oldrazz:

He'd be good as Shazam though.

Bomer screams Nightwing or Batman to me, depending on age. I'm gutted Sean Maher is getting too old for Nightwing to be honest. :(

Daniel Cudmore he'd be a physical match for the Rock but I don't know about his acting. I've only seen him play Colosus . My other choice from the x-men universe is Nicholas Hoult acting wise he's got it all.

I also think Hammer is a reasonable choice. Attack away.

I think that's the right word for Hammer, in my view. I look at him, and I don't particularly think "Captain Marvel" right away the way I do someone like Lee Pace or Benjamin Walker, but I guess he does have that innocent All-American look to him. So, he's not my personal favorite choice, but I'd certainly take him over Ashton Kutcher any day.

I don't get the Joe Manganiello love. Manganiello isn't a good actor.

Bomer is too old for Nightwing. He would have been good for a younger Batman though.

I like the Ashton Kutcher suggestion (lots of pages back) very much. That's an even better suggestion than Brendan Fraser, how impossible it might sound.
There IS a superhero vibe to Kutcher, and now we've found the right character for him. :awesome: :applaud:bow:

Joe's a dreadful actor and a dreadful choice.

Matt Bomer is the best choice for Shazam? The dude doesn't have the physicality or the presence.Bomer would look tiny next to Dwayne Johnson. Horrible idea.
Manganiello has both the physicality and the presence. Joe Manganiello is far more likely to be cast as Shazam than Matt Bomer.

Your other suggstion, Armie Hammer is equally unfitting. He doesn't look the role at all. He's a big guy but doesn't look the part at all.

When we have a guy that looks pretty much exactly like Black Adam, I think they should try to get a guy that looks like Shazam....

And that's funny that you'd call Manganiello a bad actor, after you've suggested Bomer and Hammer. To be honest, none of those three actors are going to be getting an Oscar anytime soon, and they're all about on the same level.

Manganiello is probably who they'll end up using. I can at least see him being on the shortlist. Just like he was on the shortlist for Superman and Batman.

Hammer will probably also be considered, but he just doesn't look the role at all in my opinion. Hammer was pretty bad in J Edgar, but I'm willing to give the guy a chance. I've seen some scenes from Lone Ranger and he didn't seem that bad.

Bomer won't be considered at all. I think they're going to go with a very physically intimidating guy to challenge Dwayne Johnson.

and yeah Airwings, Ashton Kutcher is actually a fantastic choice for Shazam. He's a big guy, he resembles the character, and he can totally NAIL the child trapped in a man's body thing.

Anyone calling Ashton Kutcher's chops into question needs to watch The Butterfly Effect immediately. Ashton Kutcher is a fantastic dramatic actor, he just usually sticks to comedy.

We'd be very, very lucky to get Kutcher. That's one of my favorite choices for sure.

What about Mac?

i brought up ben walker years ago, i think he'd be a good choice. went to julliard, has stage experience. i think he could pull it off.

I remember him doing great in Butterfly Effect, and being pleasently surprised. He's good.
The same can be said about Jim Carrey in Number 23.

Kutcher and Fraser can both nail "child in adult body". The reason I suggested Fraser before is that he's done a string of adventure/fantasy films with humor in them, and he's also got quite the "Shazam look". He's well suited for playing heroes, and quite physical. All of it could have worked in his favour.
But Kutcher is about a decade younger and is more likely to get the role.

Maybe we should also nominate Josh Hartnett? He's also got a superhero vibe, and he's the same age as Kutcher.

A lot of declarative statements, unsupported by fact or reason.

You seem to be a "big muscles YEAH!" kind of poster. Well, nobody credible is going to match Dwayne for that, so WB are going to have to think a little bit harder.

Why do you like Manganiello? It almost can't be for his acting

It's not and it's never been the case. He has the "super-hero look" (debatable) and that's it.

There were a number of people who wanted him for Superman as well before Cavill was cast.

I've seen a lot of him on true blood and in a cast of mediocre actors he even failed to stand out there.

We need someone we have never heard of. Christopher Reeve was largely unknown before Superman . Need a 6'4" bodybuilder who can act, but has the innocence of a child.

...either that or someone who is a "no name", like Henry Cavill was before Man of Steel(maybe not necessarily a bodybuilder but an actor with the same type of dedication as Reeve and Cavill). I mean no disrespect to posters suggesting Ashton Kutcher, but when I see The Big Red Cheese on screen I want to say "yeah, that's Captain Marvel", and not, well, you know. Ben Affleck as Batman that's different, since he wears a mask and as Bruce Wayne he plays a character who is essentially a celebrity as he is.

Sure Kutcher can act, but then there was also no doubt that back in the mid-70's, people like Jon Voight, Robert Redford, and Warren Beatty could act, but obviously they were just not "Superman".

Joe Manganiello's physique is an obvious plus, he looks like a superhero. His muscles aren't the only thing that have me thinking he's a good pick. I've personally been impressed by Manganiello in every role (other than Flash Thompson) that I've seen him in.

Zack Snyder brought Joe Manganiello back to test for Batman after he was the runner up for Superman in MOS.

Zack Snyder disagrees with you, he thinks there is more to Manganiello than his muscles. He was the only other actor Snyder was seriously considering for Superman.

Matt Bomer's build is far too slight, I don't see him getting big enough for the role. I also think Joe Manganiello looks a lot more like Shazam.

Matt Bomer's features are very elf like. He looks like Dick Grayson, not Shazam imo. Bomer even said that he wanted to play Nightwing in live action.

Really though, there isn't a clear choice for Shazam. If this were being made 10 years ago, Brendan Fraser would've been THE ONLY choice. Or Patrick Warburton.

I can't wait to see who is cast. I think it could be a while before that's announced. We don't even have a director announced.

The previous director was supposed to be Peter Segal. I can see this going to him. Or Brad Peyton, who was working on Lobo with The Rock. We need a director with a knack for visual effects, nabbing one of the Harry Potter directors would be a smart move.

I'm guessing Captain Marvel casting will come after the director announcement, but I could be wrong.

I agree with every word. Just as with Thor & Superman, I want them to get an actor that can have both the look & skills to pull the character off. I want to feel like whoever they cast literally stepped out the pages of a comic book.

I think his look is more the "dumb boyfriend that's too dumb to realize Sheldon is insulting him on Big Bang Theory" look.
