What is the oldest thing you still enjoy?

Literature: Dante's Inferno, Shakespeare, Animal Farm
Movies: Strangers on a Train, A Streetcar Named Desire, To Kill a Mockingbird
Music: Harry Belafonte, Tom Jones, The Beatles

I've been waiting for someone to post......

"Your Mother"

I enjoy breathing the most. I don't think there's anything older than that. :rimshot:

More seriously though, I enjoy paleontology. I enjoy studying dinosaurs, fossils, ancient life like that. I don't own any fossils right now although I occasionally argue with myself over buying some trilobite fossils.

In more recent eras, I do enjoy literature. Some of them are quite old, like Gilgamesh (one of the oldest written stories known), and some are very modern. And that brings with it studying some of the culture and the period in which it was written. It helps to understand stories in their original context more. Some stories really change when you realize that what we might see now meant something different then.

As far as modern entertainment, probably Doctor Who or Sherlock Holmes whose been adapted to television and movies more times than anyone besides Dracula (who I like too).

Trail riding on a horse bareback. I believe this is something that started several thousand years ago.

When I first saw this thread, I considered being a smart ass and saying "God and Earth," but decided to actually name movies.

If you're ever in the British Isles, try to find a remote, ancient stone circle. Sleep there under starlight.

I am not a spiritual person, but I swear that you will have the most extraordinarily dreams.

Videogames- The original Phantasy Star which came out on the Sega Master system in the 80's. One of the best RPGs of all time and far superior to the better known and overrated (sorry) Zelda RPGs from the 80s.

Books- I like the Greek classics which are more than 2,000 years old, but I don't know how much they've changed since then due to retellings and translations. So I'll say Nathaniel Hawthorne whose writing is almost 200 years old.

Movies- Casablanca I guess.

Comics- The Spirit from the '50s by Eisner. They still hold up today unlike other golden-age comics.

But my favorite oldest thing is sex.... which is as old as time itself. And has great replay value.

Thank you for those that replied with an actual answer than just being a smart ass,you got what I meant

Don't do that. Don't be the OP who tells other posters how they should reply. I hate that. People are having fun. No one's being a smart ass.

I enjoy classical music, film noir movies and really old comedies like Chaplin and the three stooges.

And I hate people being sarcastic and making lame jokes,Yes they are and people can have fun without trying to be funny,So yes I will be that OP.

If you still hate that then feel free to ignore my thread!

In fact, most people don't even read the first post, nor does a thread "belong" to the OP.

But feel free to ignore our thread.

I quite like really old dogs, that wag their tails in a sleepy way.

Besides Ulcer I didn't tell anyone to ignore my thread nor even to stop it,I simply thanked those who replied to make the thread as I intended

:whatever:

Really? Okay. I think regwec said it best. It ceases to be "your" thread as soon as you put it on the Hype. And by being overbearing and trying to micro-manage replies, you're not drawing more people to an otherwise fun thread. You drive them away.

Alright perhaps I shouldn't have said that to you and I apologize but I was never trying to control anything nor telling others how to post,I was simply thanking those that replied as I first intended and I appreciated that

I may be a smartass but I still gave real answers.

The oldest thing with the highest replay value is The Twilight Zone for me.

The Twilight Zone definitely still has high replay value!

The mythology of ancient Egypt. There aren't many more things older than that, lol
