Can someone fill me in on "Up Up and Away?"

What the plot is, what happens? I heard Lex goes crazy and destroys Metropolis or something, how does he do that?

its like a better superman returns... written by someone with talent...

Pretty much what sethcohen said. It's a "One Year Later" arc, so Superman's been missing for a year. He starts to get his powers back, a battle with a few choice villains ensues, and Lex emerges with a plan to get back at Metropolis for turning its back on him. Very good arc in my opinion, and worth checking out.

Its a blatant cash in to Superman Returns where they made Lex Luthor a total reatrd. Pick it up!

but isnt that what singer did in SR?

Up, Up, and Away was pretty good for the first few issues. The last few weren't up really all that up to snuff with the first bits, but still good.

Up, up and away, was for the people, who wanted back the Superman of old, without any of the Bryne - Man of Steel stuff.

So, as I said earlier, they put a bald cap on Dick Dastardly and gave him the papers of Lex Luthor. In his underground lair, he schemes, has a funny sidekick, attacks metropolis, easily gets whooped, and murmurs "I hate you" to Superman as his ship blows up and he flies away, goes to jail.

But don't worry, not all the DCU is turned into ******s. Superman is a genius now. And even without most of his powers, he took care of like half of his rouges gallery, at once, so I'm on the edge on my seat about his next adventure. How will he get out of that one?

All we need now is like three more Kryptonians, and the silver age will be totally restored. And I'll weep. :(

"Up, Up, and Away" left me down, down in the dumps.

I'm practicing my obnoxious, clichéd reviewer-speak. How was that?

NICE! now all it needs is a snarky mean-spirited jab sentance to finish off your clever quip and youre an official reviewer!

Basically, it was the story that ruined Lex Luthor for me.

I still blame Singer.
i feel a song coming on...

BLAME SINGER! BLAME SINGER! fired from your job? BLAME SINGER! wife cheating on you? BLAME SINGER! characters acting out of character? BLAME SINGER! BLAME SINGER!

Superman Homepage has reviews of each issue of the arc. And over there, they love the story...I did too, actually. I thought it was great.

(just scroll down to May, 2006)

The arc starts with Superman #650 in May, and alternates between Superman and Action Comics. So you could check out the reviews for each issue if you wanted...see the pros and cons...but as I said, those reviews are pretty glowing.

Its hard to fathom that by the name of the website, I wonder why they liked it so much.

But it's not like they love everything related to Superman....they have a fair share of negative reviews.

I don't. Superman Returns' Luthor was way better than the Luthor in "Up Up and Away."

They were about equal in their craptasticness.

At least Singer's Luthor seemed to have at least some degree of depth. Up Up and Away's Luthor basically took Lex, who by this point had become a very deep and complex character, took out all of that depth and complexity, and replaced it with everything crappy about Luthor that the post crisis DCU tried to get rid of.

I still think we can all agree that the bits with Clark Kent were brilliant.

I counted 237 asshots of Lois Lane in Up, Up, and Away.
