Something I Never Understood About Smallville

I'm sure the 'CLex' fans will be pleased :o

Well isn't Lex dead now? Or was he not in the truck that exploded?

I'm Pretty certain in the comics Clark never grew up around Lois and Lex.

Ok so i have no idea how old Clark is meant to be now but he's growing up (without the Glasses) around both Lex and Lois.

Wouldent when he moves to metropolis and Lois and Lex both Meet Superman for the first time they notice its just Clark?

Or am i missing something?

lol I *****ed about this years ago. Especially the glasses thing.

pre-crisis, Clark and Lex were friends. Not sure what happened immediately post-crisis there was some re-imagining of Clark's origins. Can't explain Lois in Smallville. That one is coming purely from the minds of the Smallville writers there.

Maybe he uses the memory stealing kiss on Lois to make her forget.

There's no way Lex Luthor goes out in the back of a semi in dingy alley; that death isn't grand enough for a character like him...if he were to die at all.

Lex is obviously still alive, IMO.

I think Lex will resurface by the end of the season. I'm 99.99999% sure.

Superman: Birthright showed flashbacks of Lex and Clark in Smallville. It put 'em bout the same age.

But again this has been wrote out of continuity and a new origin mini series has either started coming out or comes out this spring. Personaly I've liked some of the changes Smallville has made but other just make me just shake my head and ask why. Like I 'm a big Green Arrow fan and can't get enough episodes with him in them. Then they make it look like he killed Lex. I have my own thoughts on why they did this. And if there is a spoiler about how this story line turns out I haven't read it because I try not to read the spoilers. If I had to grade Samllville for how they handle Superman I would give them a B- because I know it has to be hard to please the fan and stick to DC/WB's rules about what they can and can't do.

Speak not of what you do not know. :o

yea i see them saying the real lex wasnt killed in the blast and was in a different location and it was just a clone like many said in the semi truck that went up. Then either give us hints during the rest of the season he is alive if we get a 9th season call and the finale is just a season finale since we know michael said he will only return for series finale episode.

If that is the case, then even the comics must be a horrible read for you, considering every writer comes on and adds their own "twist" to the character/villian/mythos.

Superman has never had one set continuity or origin...it has changed so much over the years. The television shows and/or movies have always sort of come up with their own versions or takes on the character.

Smallville made it's changes: some were great and other flopped, but they still are part of the show.

It's just like how the movies gave Superman powers that he never had in the comics, such as a celophane S to throw at villians or his super date-rape-make-women-pregnant-and-then-forget-all-about-it powers.

I have liked most of the takes on the character for different reasons, thus is the reason I own most of the Superman infused media as part of my Supes fanboy collection.

As far as Lex and Lois are concerned, in the Golden/Silver age continuity, both were part of Clark's life way before Metropolis. Appearantly that was their inspiration for adding them as part of the show.

I suppose it depends on who is adding those twists... which is what I was hinting at without writing an essay.

like Zorex pointed out, somethings have been good. Lex is probably the best example... but some of the things that were bad, were blatantly bad... sometimes I don't know how some of the scripts even get through the writing stage, let alone go to production. But other times the show has been good. But as of yet, I've not been wowed by SV in any way, by old stuff reimagined, or by the new additions to the mythos. There hasn't yet in my mind been a Hand of God, or a Sacrifice of Angels, or a Yesterday's Enterprise, or an Apokolipse Now caliber episode (relatively speaking of course).

still have hope for an episode this season that might live up to that list. But those last two left a sour taste in my mouth... not the two greatest episodes to leave and go off on a break with.

Ater reading the Superboy Wikipedia page it's surprising how much stuff Smallville use fron the comics. Like Pete Ross knows who Clark is and stuff like Clark meeting Green Arrow, Aquaman(or Aquaboy), Perry White, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, General Zod, Bizzaro , the Legion of Super-Heros and even Supergirl. Having never really pai attention to Superboy I was surprised about how much stuff SV has used from comic that came out in the 40's-70's.

^Well another thing "Smallville" could end up doing is marrying off Lana and Pete, since they get hitched and have a kid in the comics.

many of us were hoping that would happen way back, in the hopes of getting KK out of TW's hair...

how on earth could that happen on SV, Pete and Lana barely interacted and she showed zero interest in him and he didn't pay any attention to her at all.

I'll say for a millionth time Lois and Perry in the comics should have know that Clark was Superman. When it comes to this character, you just have to accept that the smartest people are also the dumbest.

Seriously, I don't know why this issue keeps getting brought up. This is just the reality of the situation for these characters. Whether it be on TV, the big screen, or comics. Smallville didn't change that and doesn't even need to worry about it as Superman will never be on the show.

it could have worked, had they not pissed the character into the wind. Atleast providing Jones with enough incentive to want to stay

yea that would have been nice if they had pete and lana have some relationship at some point when he was still in the show.

They never even hinted at it while Pete was on the show, the show has its own continuity, and Pete and Lana had little to do with each other

that's not my fault, it's their fault for lack of vision... Pete would have been a good intermediate BF for Lana, in the OMG middle years of SV.
