I'm Pretty certain in the comics Clark never grew up around Lois and Lex.

Ok so i have no idea how old Clark is meant to be now but he's growing up (without the Glasses) around both Lex and Lois.

Wouldent when he moves to metropolis and Lois and Lex both Meet Superman for the first time they notice its just Clark?

Or am i missing something?

It's a completely different continuity, but I agree it's kinda silly how they brought in so many Metropolis characters.

So its not even explained in the show? oh, i thought the'd be a reason i never knew about.

Well they could have Lois and Lex find out hes supes when they first interact with him. Lex already knows about Clarks abilities so its not going to be a surprise. Clarks time as Superman will obviously be different from the comics. Lois will probably help make his suit for all we know.

currently in the show clark is about 22 yrs old, lois is about 24 yrs old and lex is about 28 or so. Yes in most incarnations clark didnt met lois or lex to he was working at the planet. But the show isnt ment to be like the comics. It it taking apsects from the different eras of comics, films, cartoons and adding their own twists.

The Lex in Smallville is more a mix of Pre and Post Crisis Lex. Here is the link to Lex Luthors Wikipedia page, I'm not sure I could explain it good enough.

And I don't know as much about Lois but I think Smallville is the first mention of Lois in Smallville. Hope this helps.

There are actually a couple Superboy comics with Lois in them

in legion of three worlds the legion go back to twentieth century Smallville to find Lex so it seems like its back in continuity

How is that a bad thing? I do not want to see a Superman series that exactly like the comics.

well yes some times their twists have been good for the show's mythos but then we got times like witch lana, superlana, and others have been crappy.

this was always the problem

You're right. People have completely ruined Superman by adding their own twists to him. I mean who needs the Kents, heat vision, flying, kryptonite, the fortress of solitude, Doomsday, etc. Those things all really suck...

If that is the case, then even the comics must be a horrible read for you, considering every writer comes on and adds their own "twist" to the character/villian/mythos.

Superman has never had one set continuity or origin...it has changed so much over the years. The television shows and/or movies have always sort of come up with their own versions or takes on the character.

Smallville made it's changes: some were great and other flopped, but they still are part of the show.

It's just like how the movies gave Superman powers that he never had in the comics, such as a celophane S to throw at villians or his super date-rape-make-women-pregnant-and-then-forget-all-about-it powers.

I have liked most of the takes on the character for different reasons, thus is the reason I own most of the Superman infused media as part of my Supes fanboy collection.

As far as Lex and Lois are concerned, in the Golden/Silver age continuity, both were part of Clark's life way before Metropolis. Appearantly that was their inspiration for adding them as part of the show.

You win some you lose some. Most of the twists I think have been pretty good, namely Bizarro and Doomsday. I hated these characters in the comic books, but Smallville has made them much more interesting, and even more personal. Superpowered Lana and the kryptonite suit on the other hand....

I didn't know this, but then again I've only ever read a handfull of Superboy comics. And in my opinion writers adding their own twist to charactors is why DC has to retconn everthing every 10 years or so.

And I know there was a comic where Clark and Lex were friends.

Superman: Birthright showed flashbacks of Lex and Clark in Smallville. It put 'em bout the same age.

I agree. I'm no Superman expert, but some of the stuff just feels wrong to me, specially since this is a show about how Clark becomes Superman.

I really wonder how they would pull off Lois not recognizing Superman, since she's seen Clark without glasses during this whole time. :hehe:

I'll say for a millionth time Lois and Perry in the comics should have know that Clark was Superman. When it comes to this character, you just have to accept that the smartest people are also the dumbest.

To be honest, I hope in this continuity Lois finds out and helps Clark make a costume.

Well we can hope maybe the smallville producers/writers can think of something good about the whole glasses and superman thing. We can thank al/miles for mucking up the whole glasses thing.

It's no big deal...Series Finale, Clark just memory kisses everyone. Retcon and problem solved.
