Hi everyone,

what do you think deserves a Netflix/Disney+/Prime adaption that will get everyone talking?

personally I would love to see a Starship Troopers tv series or a V for Vendetta one

I honestly can't think of one as I still prefer big budgeted movies that get a theaterical release.

A proper adaptation of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and Magnus Chase books.

Riordian's books are a good suggestion for series that could run long-term.

For prestige-type work, I think that "Persepolis" and "The Emperor of Ocean Park" would be prime for TV mini-series adaptations.

Left Behind

I am Number 4

Percy Jackson

the pyrdain chronicles

Old Man's War which I think is getting adapted by Netflix but nothing confirmed so far.

The Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold has it all: space battles, romance, spy stories, humour, and strong, sympathetic protagonists from a variety of backgrounds and orientations. Although quite violent at times, it's more optimistic than the slate of dreary downer series currently available.

New Lazy answer, but Potter.

Marauders (the previous generation at Hogwarts) could be like early Smallville.

(At least, I'd like it to stay somewhat cheerful like that. Or it could be small-scale dystopian like Riverdale, but I hope not.)

Not that what you’ve suggested isn’t a good idea, but I wouldn’t want to watch it. I’ve never cared to see the Marauders’ teenage years play out. If we have to do a prequel series, let’s focus on the Founders or even Dumbledore.

Defenders Of The Earth
The Dark Universe (The Mummy/Frankenstein/wolfman /Dracula/The Invisible Man)

I was watching blade runner 2049 last night and it made me realise just how awesome a blade runner tv show would be

Harry Potter definitely. It would be a phenomenon all over again. In fact every year that passes I am more and more surprised that a TV series hasn't already happened. Even an animated series.

As much as I have enjoyed the movies in the past, it would be better suited to the longform/series format IMO. Each school year could take place in 1 season and whilst I wouldn't want to see it turned in to 'high school drama' ala something like One Tree Hill or whatever but you could almost give it that school procedural feel with the overarching plot and dread. You could show a lot more of the stuff from the books that didn't make it to the movies, give more time to other characters, show the kids going to more lessons and learning spells and you could show the passage of time within each school year more effectively, with each season building towards the respective story climax. You could even potentially not have it focus on Harry and focus on other kids with Harry in the background and what these other kids do during this time.

Personally I would only be interested in a series set in the HP books timeline or maybe something exploring an adult Harry Potter but should they ever do anything with the property, just keep Yates away from it.

Some of these wouldn't exactly be 'massive' but I would also like to see or see value in:
  • Dark City (would love to see something based on this concept)
  • Extraction (set in the world of Inception)
  • Enemy of the State (could make a great limited series)
  • Truman Show (not saying I would want to see one but a show based on it could be good/big)
  • something set in the Cloverfield-verse maybe
  • Push (liked the world even though the film wasn't the best)
  • Underworld (kinda surprised it hasn't already come about)
  • Adjustment Bureau (had some interesting ideas that could be explored)
  • Cube
  • Stargate
  • Sliders

I Second a Series on the Dresdan Files. SciFi did a series at one time but it only lasted a Season. I think it was done by HBO or Netflix or one of the streaming sites it would actually be done better.
