Who should be next on the Big Screen?

the same as most other heroes, such as superman and batman.

Among which demographics does Wonder Woman rank as their favorite superhero(ine)?

im not basing it on her being known. her status as a pop culture icon has long been cemented. you'd be ignorant to suggest otherwise.

How so?

you just really know nothing of the character do you?

Yes, I do.

even if you want to believe this extremely flawed statement....it doesnt change the fact that wonder woman is still one of the most recognized comic heroes of all time.

I NEVER said that she wasn't recognized. Warner Brothers, however, doesn't really need a film about her, especially with its inherent disadvantages in terms of audiences.

seriously though, if you're not into the character, thats totally cool. it would explain you're lack of understanding of her character, importance, and potential. and that too, is entirely cool. but to sit here and deny the importance of her role in the history of comics, and deny her iconographic status in pop culture....you just look like an ignorant fool.

From what I have seen, far more people will line up to see a Superman or Batman movie than a Wonder Woman movie. When you ask superhero fans their favorite superhero, I will bet you that you will hear them answer, "Batman", "Superman", and "Spider-Man" far more often than "Wonder Woman". Wonder Woman has this weird case of Mainstream Obscurity, much like characters like Godzilla or what have you.
Wonder Woman doesn't really catch my attention like Batman and Superman do because she doesn't make sense to me. Why is this Princess of Themyscira wearing a bathing suit with a bunch of symbols of America, including flag panties and (in some cases) an eagle over her ****? Why is she a superheroine in the first place?

Give me Flash next, dammit!:argh:
I really want to see a proper Flash movie. I have a feeling that's what they'll do next.

It's gotta be Flash or Wonder Woman. Preferably both.

Among which demographics does Wonder Woman rank as their favorite superhero(ine)?

she is everyones most favoritest superhero of every single demographic that ever existed in the universe. :whatever: no one but DC's sales department can answer that.

how isnt she? she was the first female superhero, and has endured as the most popular female superhero ever created and is instantly recognized by the general masses.

Yes, I do.

im having a hard time believing that. otherwise all of this wouldnt be an issue.

I NEVER said that she wasn't recognized. Warner Brothers, however, doesn't really need a film about her, especially with its inherent disadvantages in terms of audiences.

the point of this is how easily she is recognized as a character, and thats enough as a base to sell a movie. and WB doesnt really need a film about anybody.

again, batman and superman have nothing to do with this. by your rationale, no superhero film other than batman and superman deserves to be made because no other hero is as popular. Wonder Woman stands on her own, and she is an extremely recognizable and iconic figure who could easily sell a movie.

I would like to see Green Arrow for some reason I'm not entirely sure of.

OK. Who would you market a Wonder Woman film to?

Her being the first female superhero is of no consequence if she isn't compelling. Being recognized doesn't equal success for the film.

While I don't know everything about the character, (most of my knowledge comes from the internet and Justice League, because I don't see Wonder Woman TPBs or individual comics too often) I do know much about the character.

Of course they don't need a film about anybody. Name recognition isn't the only thing required to sell a movie. Who knows how to direct a movie about the character? Who is it being marketed to? What is it about? And so on.

That's been the situation with Warner Bros. regarding DC characters on film, until recently.

Wonder Woman stands on her own, and she is an extremely recognizable and iconic figure who could easily sell a movie.

Being recognizable doesn't mean **** if the audience doesn't want to see a movie about the character. I'm not saying that the latter is true about Wonder Woman, but iconicity doesn't equal ticket sales.

I'm not sure either but GA seems to be a popular choice. I'm not sure what the draw is but I do like the guy. I hope if it goes though he won't be cast too young and he keeps the beard and stach.

I think its because Green Arrow is sort of a more flawed & less serious average guy version of Batman. I know I would see a movie about him, and I think with a bit more exposure outside of comics (like a movie or television series focused on him), he might really catch on with general audiences like Iron Man did after his eponymous movie.

The reason for Iron Man's success was RDJ.

Not entirely. IRON MAN also succeeded because it has a great story, great characters, et cetera.
Cast an actor of Oscar-level talent for Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, like Christian Bale is for Bruce Wayne/Batman, with a good story and a good script that gives them a lot to work with and explores the character, and we could have a critically acclaimed hit Green Arrow film.

I want a Batgirl movie. A Barbara Gordon Batgirl movie. And all the actors who ever played Batman and Robin should make cameo appearances. Since they'll all be old and fat, they won't be able to play superheroes, so they'll have to be bartenders and taxi cab drivers and sewer workers, but they should show up all the same.

And Batgirl has to be a redhead. None of this Yvonne Craig with the wig attached to the cowl. I want the real McCoy.

it doesnt matter who i would market it to.

her being the first isnt what makes her compelling, but its part of why she's important. her story makes her compelling. and its a great story.

so you've never even taken the time to read the good wonder woman comics?

thanks, mr. obvious. but thats not even the issue.

That's been the situation with Warner Bros. regarding DC characters on film, until recently.

and now that they're expanding beyond supes and bats, wonder woman would be the next natural step in the order of things.

just because you dont want to see a movie about wonder woman, doesnt mean everyone else doesnt. her iconography doesnt equal ticket sales, but its a solid beginning to build on. and its a stronger beginning than most other characters have.

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Flash are DC's big 5, and we know for a fact that Green Lantern is not the only superhero other than Batman and Superman that WB wants to try making into a movie franchise. It only makes sense that they try to do Flash and WW next, because they're amongst the cream of DC's crop. Can you honestly think of a character outside of DC's Big 5 who would make more sense than Wonder Woman to make a movie out of? The only one that comes close who I can think of is Captain Marvel, but only because a family superhero film stands to make a fair bit of coin, not because he's more popular than WW (which last time I checked, he isn't). Maybe Teen Titans, but again, that would be more of a kids / family movie, not an epic blockbuster comparable in ambition to Superman or Batman.

Not that many people even want to READ about Wonder Woman anymore. I'm not sure people will want to see a film about her.

WW classic (read: aged 30's-50's years old) readers are among the very fanatics. But they still account a mere single digit percentage of total movie goers.

Thor used to sell inside the top 10 during JMS era.

Not that comic sales directly translate to how popular a movie would be. But it just goes to show that DC don't really care about WW either. She hasn't had a push in years.

Compared to the push Marvel is giving to either Ms Marvel, Storm or Spider-Woman, Wonder Woman is getting a first class treatment.

it doesnt matter who i would market it to.

I am asking you because I want to know what you would do with a Wonder Woman movie.

Haven't had much of an opportunity. I don't see Wonder Woman comics very often.

and now that they're expanding beyond supes and bats, wonder woman would be the next natural step in the order of things.

I guess she would be, but the live-action Wonder Woman movie seems to be stuck in development hell. Not sure exactly why though.

I'll see the movie if it's good.

I see your point, but Wonder Woman hasn't not received a live-action film for a lack of trying. It's stuck in development hell.

Not that many people even want to READ about Wonder Woman anymore. I'm not sure people will want to see a film about her.

Agree.

His book sells around 50k a month doesn't it? And he's on the Avengers, which sells no less than 70k a month.

WW books sells what? 30k a month?

You're comparing leprechauns to unicorns. Assuming 50,000 thor readers all go to see the movie, that's still a small fraction of the number of people that have to see the movie that will be enough to make it a hit. Comic sales =/= ticket sales. They sell on such a tiny scale compared to movies, you might as well be comparing 7/11 novelty cup sales.

I am asking you because I want to know what you would do with a Wonder Woman movie.

my personal ideas on what i would do with a wonder woman movie are irrelevant. i'm also not interested in the debate that would surely ensue from it.

What is the great story?

i've already mentioned writers who have had good runs on wonder woman.

Haven't had much of an opportunity. I don't see Wonder Woman comics very often.

they're not hard to find. the good ones i've already mentioned can be found on amazon for pretty cheap.

I guess she would be, but the live-action Wonder Woman movie seems to be stuck in development hell. Not sure exactly why though.

i dont think its stuck in development hell. rather, they just havent made an honest effort at getting one produced. few years back they tried for like a minute, then it just kinda faded away without any active efforts to revive it. either way, lots of movies get stuck in development hell, but that doesnt mean quality movies cant come from it.

I'll see the movie if it's good.

i'd wager most people would....if it's good.

They really should have put their effort into making this...

Instead of this....

And on the cusp of Superman Returns, before Iron-Man came out they should have just rebooted this...
