What should Krypton look like?

Something like mountains that have a crystalline appearance?

Yeah, like in the comics, where the world is not all crystals but maybe some crystal mountains or crystal embedded in the rock. Similar to Earth's landscape but with elements that give it an exotic/alien feel.

Interesting to read what Peter Rubin had to say. I looked at his website and his concept art. This quote was interesting:

I've been happily busy on a very intense project for nine months, and now it's almost over… I've been doing concepts, 3d designs, virtual maquettes, logo design (hint, hint) you name it - and helping to break some new ground, I'm told, in the application of technology to production design. Shucks.

I honestly don't mind them parting with the Donner-style Krypton. More than the production design of it, I liked the atmosphere his Krypton had. It was otherworldly and somewhat haunting. I think that's the main thing Byrne took from it when he created his Krypton.

The focus here is on ships, but I tried looking for ones with backgrounds I found interesting...

I really don't want a crystal-mountain Krypton. It just feels too dated.

I can see what you're saying, but I would like a more rugged landcape of rocks, mountains, weird alien wildlife. And that can be in contrast to the Krypton capital, with its buildings, advanced technology etc.

I saw these again recently:

Michael Wilkinson spoke at the 5D | FLUX conference earlier this week, and dropped a few tidbits regarding Superman's iconic "S" costume design and how it will tie in to Krypton's history..

Wilkinson explained that since they created a “neo-medieval” back story for Krypton (which included the creation of a new language), it made sense to utilize the suit design as part of the mythology. “Everyone on Krypton wears this suit,” he suggested. Using ZBrush and rapid prototyping, Wilkinson came up the blue/gray color and chain-linked look. “It has function and purpose and a logic to this fantastical world,” he added.
I like the sound of it and makes me wonder what that might mean for a possible FoS. I also remember some users were using Final Fantasy as examples of "neo-medieval".

Except for that one with the white buildings above the clouds, none exactly scream Neo-medieval to me.

yeah......now I'm curious about the "neo-medieval" look.

just please no more boring Ice/Crystal planet.........

some of these art pieces are awesome. That's why i love concept art; they are so surreal looking that you wanna visit these worlds.

I could something like this fit with the neo-thing, maybe except the spaceport in the foreground:

The white tower reminds of the movie Krull if you remember that one, which also had this medieval space-thing going.
