Smoking

  • Privatise it

  • Illegalise it

  • Legal in stores and anywhere outside

  • Anywhere outside (streets, outside mall, etc)

I hate smokers.

That crap is nasty and causes harm to others not just the weak willed simp suckin' on the cancer stick.

Not as much harm as you're likely to get if non-smokers ever manage to get smoking illegalised. If you've ever seen a heavy smoker with a nicotine craving you understand what I mean.

I've got my personal reasons for disliking smokers and tobacco in general.

Yeah, I've known plenty of heavy smokers that haven't gotten more than a couple hours of sleep at a time for years on end because they have to get up 3 times a night to smoke.

personally I smoke and I always will. If somebody wants to not smoke, I'm fine as long as they don't try to tell me where I can and can't smoke. If they don't like it, then get away from me.

A little hard to get away from you if we're in a resturant eating at the next table. I paid for my food just like you did and I deserve the right to enjoy it. I've had this argument with people in resturants before and I always win.

You are correct. Smokers are the catalyst for the issue. Therefore, they should be the ones to go elsewhere.

More than enough reason to ban the stuff.

More likely you'll end up with a bunch of pissed off addicts who are going to snap at anyone for any reason. and I do mean snap violently.

so you don't like me huh? well that's very ignorant. what if I applied the same logic and said I didn't like non smokers?

it's called smoking section, non smoking section. I'm not making you sit next to me any more than your making me sit next to you. Owner's choice. He owns the restaurant it should be his or her choice. there are non smoking restaurants and there are restaurants for people that like to smoke inbetween dinner and desert. such as myself.

I paid for my food just like you did. remember that.

you have a choice for which restaurant you go to. and when I was a waiter, me and all of my fellow employees took a 30% drop in income because of the smoking ban. and I had to freeze my nuts off on top of it. so not only was my job sucking more, but I didn't get nearly as much money either.

several months later my boss went out of business. you tell me what gives you the right to do that to us?

You can't completely eliminate nicotine frome tabbaco as it exists in it naturally, but I agree completely that the amount of nicotine in ciggarettes needs to be regulated to a much stricter degree.

6 years ago I was watching the news and phillip morris had successfully genetically engineered a tobacco plant without nicotine. they said it was to help smokers quit smoking.

we saw how that turned out. never made it to the market.

I've smoked tons of tobacco and tons of weed and my heart and lungs work better than that of most non smokers. why? because I excercise! Most people my age are fat as hell. they don't want to take care of their body and then they ***** at me for enjoying a cigarette.

If I want to open a building where people can come sit down, eat a meal, and smoke cigarettes I should have the right to. Consumers have all kinds of options. there are tons of restaurants who target consumers specifically who don't like to smoke. but no. *****y people want to ruin it for everybody else.

I applied the same logic as you when I was a smoker. Eventually it catches up with you, though. I quit because of the cumulative effects and what they were starting to do to me. Enjoy it while you can, but eventually it will exact a toll. You can't wilfully ingest poison year after year without repercussions.

I know it will always make my lungs not as good as they could be. but I could say the same about somebody who doesn't excercise. their lungs will never be as good as they would be if they excercised. theyir body and their heart will never be as good as they would be if they excecised. I've seen first hand that not excercising is worse than smoking. I wasn't always in great shape. I was a smoker before I excercised and each year I get more and more in shape.

I can go out to my garage and dance a million miles a second for hours leaving buckets of sweat behind me when I'm done.

It's not just about your lung capacity, dude. Seriously. Smoking causes other issues like heart disease, high blood pressure, astronomically high triglycerides and high cholesterol, thinned artery walls, insulin resistance, hormonal imbalances and a host of other issues. The kind of issues you blow off (I know I did) until you HAVE them. And I've always stayed in great shape, too, but I was lucky and caught the few things it had done to me early enough to normalize and/or reverse things to a point where they're no longer as much of a threat to me. Not everyone's so lucky. So, have fun dancing in your garage, but it's not all about the lungs. You aren't going to listen to a damn thing I've typed and keep on smoking, and I know that because I was the same dame way, but ten years from now when you discover some of these things have crept on you, think of me, whispering "I told you so.". :)

I've never met a single smoker with hormone problems. My excercising gives me a strong heart and low cholesterol. I doubt I'm going to have insulin problems. there are some medical people in my family and as far as I remember talking about diabetes, because several memebers ofmy family have it, smoking has nothing to do with causing it. smoking is just a little bad for you everywhere. but excersie is good for you in a host of ways.

it's acumulative life style. everything counts and adds up. smoking or not smoking is the be all of taking care of yourself. there is your food intake, which city you live in even based on pollution, and excerise which makes more of a difference than anything else. I don't doubt for a second that living in chicago is worse for your lungs than smoking. just go there once and take a breath of the not so fresh air. It will make you throw up if your not used to it.

baby steps:

First make it illegal indoors in public buildings for a few years (and raise the cost of cigarettes every year).
Then make it illegal outside in public places for a few years
Finally make it illegal everywhere, because it doesn't just hurt the smokers it hurts everyone around them. There are absolutely no health benefits to smoking.

Smoking is an addiction and a very hard habit to break

But what about the money? You know how much America will loose?

Smoking will never be illegal.

The same with drugs, booze, prostitution, etc, etc, etc.

being a smoker, i can completely understand why people would want it seperated in their restaurants and why it isn't allowed everywhere like department stores, malls, theaters, etc.
but since i live in a town where it's actually illegal in bars and club AND restaurants, i think that's just ****ing ridiculous. i think in bars and clubs it should be legal. and i can understand in restaurants, but there were many here that had seperate areas just for smokers, even behind glass, where it has been made illegal.
come ON PEOPLE!!?!?
don't you know you can't have a little drinky without a little smokey!?!

and **** everyone who wants to make smoking OUTSIDE illegal.

Yeah. The tobacco industry will never let smoking outside become illegal.
