hey all,

i know that Batman's lack of superpowers is what makes him more interesting.

But, IF Batman did have superpowers, what type would he have? IOW, what superpowers would "fit" Batman's theme and character.

Since he's a mysterious, shadowy creature of the night, I would think some kind of psychic / psionic power would fit, kind of like Raven from Teen Titans or The Shadow.

Or, maybe some kind of "shadow manipulation" power, like X-men's Psylocke....

any ideas??

I dont want to think about batman with powers, he dosnt need them.

Take a look at Daredevil if you want a Batman with superpowers.

Yeah, i can't even imagine it. His whole appeal to me has always been "normal guy able to walk shoulder to shoulder with Gods (JLA)"...

None at all, I don't want to imagine a Batman with powers.

I would like him to be immortal, not like Highlander or have healing powers like Wolverine. Just a man who doesn't really age much but can be killed by a single bullit.

Not immortal but maybe wolverine type indurance and stamina and maybe being able to see a little better then the average human in the dark.

simple, constant insomnia

he manages to stay awake for 24hrs to keep him from going to bed and dreaming of seeing his parents being murdered.

but for some reason his body manages to adapt and he doesn't get tired.

giving him all the time he needs to train, do his detective work, work as bruce wayne and fight crime as batman...

heck, indefinite insomnia should have been a power of his from the get go.

the best thing is that it doesn't affect him in any shape or form but allows him the added time to get done what he has and i believe it makes the character more credible.

Id still go for a power that increases bats indurance like wolverine or maybe more like captain america who has something in him that delays the release of acid build up in his muscles that leads to tiredness this means he can fight on far longer then a normal human like batman.

If he did have superpowers... would he even be Batman anymore, or just a variant that's closer to Superman?

I vote: Batman with no superpowers.

Like many of you I don't even want to think of Batman with Superpowers...

batman shud hav shape shiftin powerz and aslo be able 2 fly!11!!!!

doesn't he already have an eidetic memory? That's sort of super. =\

Wow... I would have never guess such a strong anti-powers reaction. I consider Batman highly non human, due to his implausible fitness and his completely impossible level of skill and knowledge. To say nothing of his relative infallibility and clear insanity. I haven't been able to see him as a "normal guy who just happens to be rich and trained" in many years.

Regardless, if Batman were to have a power, it would obviously be a mastery of darkness... not this living palpable darkness crap, but simply be able to make it dark as he wills it. He basically has this already, but it would raise his fear factor that much more.

Hypothetical question, and everyone freaks out :whatever: ....

Yeah darkness powers are pretty good, like Nightcrawler or Psylocke as super-bats first mentioned. It's a subtle and unique power thats fits the character - unlike super-strength, agility, endurance, flight etc. He still has to train and develop methods for those skills.

A memory power would also make sense but again I think it would make him too strong. He can't be infallible.

I'd just say nightvision and sensitive hearing. He gave himself these powers through science or medicine or something.

Or the insomnia thing. That is an awesome idea November Rain

SHAPE SHIFTIN!!1!

Maybe the ability of flight (for short distances), super hearing to a limit ,enhanced vision (nightvision), and even the ability to heal quicker than normal. But I cant really see batman with powers but it might be cool.

Nup. Insomnia. It makes perfect sense without adding new abilities. Instead of sleeping he spends his time being a badass mofo and making plans and grilling.

Is there anything less menacing than a superhero in a field?
