What the...? Stan, are you ok?

Wow. Talk about a fall from grace, in a way. Went from creating the most inspirational and interesting superheroes of our age to developing a freakin' Paris Hilton cartoon. Wow...just wow. Poor Stan. He must really be needing some money because I've noticed he's been writing a lot of those crappy Sci Fi movies.

Hopefully Paris Hilton gets killed in jail or hit by a bus or something. That's the only way to save Stan Lee's reputation with his comic bretheren!!!

I feel bad about it, but I think I might actually laugh if I hear Paris Hilton died from a shiv to the spine in prison. I wouldn't want to, but I don't think I could help myself. Does that make me a bad person? :(

No, it doesn't make you a bad person. In fact, I think you get an automatic pass into heaven if you laugh at the death of Paris Hilton.

I mean...she is the devil after all.

Tart...I could go for some Frosted Pop Tarts right about now.

That's just insulting. He may be a cynical, manipulative, egotistical, hedonistic ass, but The Devil is at least inteligent.

Couple things:

1) Stan doesnt need any money. He won his lawsuit against Marvel, and, iirc, is entitled to 10% of all revenue from the films, including merchandise. Even from movies featuring characters he didnt create, such as Blade, Elektra, and Punisher....

2) Stan is running a business, Pow entertainment. They have employees who need to get paid. Stan is obviously pursuing a high profile celebrity to help generate business for his company. Some of you may not like her, and that's fine. Young men are often intimidated by attractive, powerful, promiscuous woman (although im quite frankly stunned that some of you are actually wishing her harm and death)...but the fact is that her ad for Carl Junior's was one of the most successful in history, so Stan is actually being quite savvy in trying to work with her.

3) I find it ironic and somewhat dis-heartening to see some of you slagging Stan on a forum dedicated to a comics universe he, at the very LEAST, co-created. SOme of you come here every day. I was hoping to see more respect for The Man.

Oh well.

Captain, please. We're in no way disrespecting the man's work. We ALL realize the contributions he made to the industry. However, when you put all of that to mind, and compare it to this, and things like Striperella, it just doesn't hold up. Just because he's an icon, does not protect him from ridicule, on the contrary, it opens the way for more ridicule because of his standing in this medium.

There in lies the question isn't it?

The guy was able to come up with phenomenal ideas. He did create most of the Marvel Universe after all, but his actual writing, is atrocious. Plot holes, bad, bad dialog, I've seen better pacing in fan fiction. But it's not his fault. Pretty much everybody writing comics back then were terrible. It's why the industry didn't get the respect it did. It was the age they lived in. Just about everything written before the mid eighties is unreadable.

Oh.

That must be why all those Masterworks, Essential Volumes, and Omnibus Collections are selling so well. :whatever:

And respect? Stan was asked to tour college campus' to lecture about Marvel Comics. His Drug Issues in ASM garnered media attention....

Sounds respectable to ME.

I don't know what to tell you, other than that I still respect Stan for pretty much building the Marvel universe. That said, anyone who does anything with Paris Hilton deserves to be made fun of. It's just a natural law of the universe.

Also, please don't use dime-store psychology. It makes you look pretentious.

Eh, if you say so Cap'n.

To whom? A bunch of strangers on the internet? That's ok.

Now that sounds even more Pretentious, Mr. Internet stranger.

I know. Maybe it's good he's not a mod anymore. A little actual power in this state and he'd probably ban the lot of us for defying him.

So what kind of baffles me is how he eliminated the Paris wannabe from the Who Wants to be a Superhero show, yet he's gonna make a superhero of the real Paris. :-\
